Sign-up Rules and Brackets
- The ranges for each bracket of play (in rankings and SR) are as follows:
  1. 900K+ (1.5-2*)
  2. 899-700K (2-2.5*)
  3. 699-500K (2.5-3*)
  4. 499-300K (3-3.5*)
  5. 299-200K (3.5-4*)
  6. 199-150K (4-4.5*)
  7. 149K-100K (4.5-5*)
  8. 99K-50K (5-5.5*)
  9. 50K-10K (5.5-6*)
  10. <10K (6*+)

- All who post will be checked by the end of sign-ups for your range (and obviously when I'm putting you in your brackets).
- Two days before sign-ups end will be when your bracket placement is locked in, also called the "lock-in" phase. At that point, even if you get enough pp to advance to a new bracket (eg. at 501K, you get enough to jump to 497K, but you will still be locked into the 699-500K bracket). However, advancements before that point will be accounted for and you will be moved to the proper bracket.
-Players who sign up during this lock-in phase will also be subject to said lock-in as well.
-Any bracket that has one or zero participants will be removed.
--If a bracket has only one player, they will be given a one-time option to jump down to a lower bracket (eg. a single 499-300K player may jump to the 299-200K bracket). If this option is not taken, you will be removed alongside the bracket.
--If this option is taken, this will be waived if and ONLY if a lower-bracket single player decides to jump into your bracket to make it a 2-person (and thus viable) bracket. If nobody opts to take the advancement (or will otherwise be affected by it before you), your own advancement will take place.
Examples
Example 1: Player 1 is the only one in the 500-699K bracket and opts to take the advancement to the 300-499K bracket. Player 2 is also the only one in the 700-899K bracket but does not take the advancement. Player 2 will be removed with their bracket while Player 1 will advance.
Example 2: Player 1 is the only one in the 500-699K bracket and opts to take the advancement to the 300-499K bracket. Player 2 is also the only one in the 700-899K bracket and also takes the advancement. Player 3 is also the only one in the 900K+ bracket but does not take the advancement. Player 2 will advance as they were still in a single-person bracket, but Player 1 will not because Player 2 has moved up to join them.
Example 3: Same scenario as Example 2 except the 900K+ does take the advancement. Player 2 will remain in their bracket since Player 3 advanced, while Player 1 will be removed as nobody was able to move into their bracket.

-Sign-ups officially end at 23:59 April 30th, 2023. Anyone who asks after this day will not be added.

Mod madness rules
-There will be 10 maps for each bracket, with each map getting two days each to play.
-All viable mods for play--which excludes Relax due to auto-hit, excepts Touchscreen, and combines DT and NC as a single mod type--will be sorted into five different levels based on my perception of how difficult they would be to FC or SS. Of course, if anyone has a more viable means to separate them, by all means suggest it.
--Level 1 is for mod combos that should be easier than the SR of your bracket. This will largely be reserved for the HT mods, and songs from it will be up to .3* above your bracket SR.
--Level 2 is for mod comboes at the same difficulty as your bracket SR. This will include NM, for example, alongside most of HD and the more difficult HT variations.
--Level 3 is for mod combos that are more difficult than your SR, such as HR or DT or EZ, and maps for these mods will be up to a full star below your bracket SR.
--LEvel 4 is for most of the 2- and 3-mod variations, and will have maps up to 2* lower than your bracket.
--Level 5 is for what I deem to be the hardest variations, which will be most of the 3- and 4-mod variants along with all levels of FL (except HTFL). These will be up to 2.5-3* below your bracket SR.
---Furthermore, all FL-based mod combos will have maps under 2 minutes.
---for the brackets with SRs that will not go below 2*'s: The 900K+ bracket will stop at the sub-1* maps, the 700-899K bracket will stop at 1-1.5*, and the 500-699K bracket will stop at 1.5-2*
--Every bracket will have at least one combo from all five levels in this challenge.
SR distribution by bracket
Level 1 / Level 2 / Level 3 / Level 4 / Level 5
900K+: 2-2.3* / 1.7-2* / 1.4-1.7* / 1-1.4* / <1*
700-899K: 2.5-2.8* / 2.2-2.5* / 1.5-2* / 1-1.4* / <1*
500-699K: 3-3.3* / 2.7-3* / 2-2.5* / 1.5-8* / 1-1.4*
300-499K: 3.5-3.8* / 3.2-3.5* / 2.5-3* / 2-2.5* / 1.3-1.6*
200-299K: 4-4.3* / 3.7-4* / 3-3.5* / 2.5-3* / 1.7-2*
150-199K: 4.5-4.8* / 4.2-4.5* / 3.5-4* / 3-3.5* / 1.9-2.2*
100-149K: 5-5.3* / 4.7-5* / 4-4.5* / 3.5-4* / 2-2.3*
50-99K: 5.5-5.8* / 5.2-5.5* / 4.5-5* / 4-4.5* / 2.3-2.6*
10-49K: 6-6.3* / 5.7-6* / 5-5.5* / 4.5-5* / 2.5-3*
<10K: 6.3-6.5* / 6-6.3* / 5.5-5.8* / 4.8-5.4* / 3-3.5*
-For each round of competition, I will select one mod combo at random (using random.org) for each bracket, and then select one map from the designated SR range for each level.
-You may only play the mod combo assigned to that map, no more and no less. Any submissions that do not match exactly will not be counted.
-For each map, players will have two days to submit scores for the map. Once that two-day period is up, you will be unable to submit another score for that map until the final days of the challenge. However, as stated in the sign-in rules above, you may submit as many scores as you like within that two-day period for that map.
-After Round 10, the final days of the month will be a free submission period, where you may submit scores for all the maps in your bracket as a final chance to upgrade your scores. Once the final day of the challenge is over, no more submissions will be accepted.

Competition Rules
- Scores must be submitted or dated from 00:00 May 1st to 23:59 May 31st. That does mean you will need to re-do your score if you had one submitted previously.
- There is no limit to the number of scores you may submit, so long as it is submitted within the time-frame of the challenge. Submit one-and-dones, or replay your maps every day until you get the best score you can, whatever works for you.
- Picture proof or a link to the score is required in a companion thread that will be made on the day the challenge starts. It is also on you to ensure your links work and are updated. I can and will trawl for scores if absolutely necessary or if something janky happens, and if I find a broken link I will try to point it out, but I will not be doing so regularly.
- Players must submit scores for at least three maps by the end of the first week, and for at least seven maps before the open submission period. Players who fail to do so will be automatically DQ'd and may not re-enter. Repeat offenders will be barred from participating in future challenges. If you find out you can no longer participate or don't want to, please just let me know instead of ghosting. I have no problem with you requesting to leave at any time.
- Points will be distributed based on the number of players in each bracket minus one per 5 people. I.e. if there are less than 5, all participatns will get points, while if there are 5 then four will get points while last place will get none.
- If a player FC's a map (excluding combos with SD), they will be given a bonus point.
- If a player SS's a map (excluding combos with PF), they will be given two bonus points.
- Tiebreaks will be broken down as follows, from top priority to lowest: Accuracy->score->timestamp.
--Example 1: Player A has a play with 93% acc., while Player B has 95%. In this scenario, Player B would win the map.
--Example 2: Player A and Player B both have 97% acc, but Player A has 8.5M points while Player B has 7.8M points. In this scenario, Player A would win the map.
--Example 3: Player A and Player B both SS the map, but Player B has 1,100 more points due to a faster spinner. In this scenario Player B would win.
--Example 4: Player A and Player B both SS the map and either have the same spinner points or the map has no spinner. However, Player A submitted their play one day before Player B. In this scenario, Player A would win.
- The player from each bracket with the most points wins.

Prizes
- The winner of each bracket will earn 2 month's Osu!Supporter from me.
- If a player FC's all maps in their bracket, I will give them an extra 2 month's supporter.
- If a player SS's all their songs in their bracket, I will give them an extra 4 months Supporter on top of the 1 month for winning.
- Others are more than welcome to offer their own rewards to players if they so choose. However, if you are participating you may not offer a reward of any kind for the challenge. If there is enough support for it I may allow for rewards on brackets outside your own, but that remains to be seen.

Another "just posting for sign-up start-up" thing. I really need to get into the habit of doing this on the 20th...

Be aware the "roundtable pools" section will be edited for the mod madness rules, so you can effectively ignore that for this challenge.

Is that an /in?

Also, I've updated the OP rules for mod madness. I implore everyone to give it a lookover for any questions. There is still some information to include (what mods go where, the comprehensive breakdown of each level's SR range, etc.), but I believe I've covered the gist of what will happen in this month's challenge.

I've chatted with Shino before and she told me that she can't get access to the spreadsheet on any means. For me, I'm the one who can only check very seldom (like once a week?), so sorry for troubling.

I have a friend in Canada and he can help me but not often.
Or I can see the other people's score in the same group when they hand in.
I will try my best to solve the problem,if I still have problem,I will send you message.

The Lock-in phase has officially begun. Anyone still in a single-person bracket may request to advance if they so desire, or they will be removed along with their bracket.

(God, trying to organize all the mod combos is annoying, but at least I'll only have to do this once <_<.)

Both of you are in the same bracket, so that won't be happening.

Sebastian, Petrusha, dPeace and Jer1cs (again...) are the only ones in solo brackets for right now. The first three are also in a row, so we're waiting to see what happens there.

No. They must be submitted to Osu.

I know you're not one for ranking up, but I'm not accepting offline scores. I need to be able to trawl for the scores myself on the site in case something goes wrong (i.e. a picture without enough information, like what happened with one of BinNurSuchten's pics last month). I'd like you to participate, but I understand if that's a deal-breaker.

I'm still confused about the rules of this challenge.

So is our score increased by what type of mods we use? And do the mods stop at a certain SR?
heipizhu
Oh, and btw, will we going to have a mod multipiler for EZ?

Sorry, but no.

The purpose of this month's challenge is to see how you all do with various mod combos on various songs. Your points do not change by the mods used, but you can earn extra points for FCs/SS's (and depending on how that goes, I might carry that over to next month's and expand it to varying percentages). The "levels" are just a rough grouping of mods based on my perception of their difficulty. Each level has a specific range either above, at or below the base SR I use normally, and maps will only be pulled from those specifc SRs after I have selected the mods you will need to use.

For example, via Random.org I pull level 3 for your bracket and the mod combo is DT/NCHDSDSO. That means I will select a song for you from wthin the 2-2.5* range for you to play with that specific mod combo. Note that I am grouping NC and DT together since they function the same so I will not disqualify submissions that use one over the other, but the HDSDSO must be there alongside DT/NC for it to count, and you may not include other mods with it.

Do also be aware that I will not award bonus points for FCs if the combo includes SD, or for SS's if the combo includes PF, as both of those mods require you to FC/SS, respectively. I am aware that technically you can miss slider-ends on SD since that doesn't break combo, but I will consider those to be FCs for the purposes of that mod.

heipizhu wrote:

What do you mean?

In any case, due to some circumstances regarding work, I will be delayed in starting the 1st round. Everyone who has made an /in between my previous post and this one will be included, however. Round 1 will begin as soon as I post the maps in question, and will be extended an extra day to make up for the delay. Rounds 2-10 will still remain as two-day rounds, but will all be pushed back a day as a result (Round 2 will begin on May 4th, and so on). I apologize for the delay.

Now, officially. All maps are posted (embarrasingly late, but...).

For Heip

For Shiro/Rega

Fairly tough draw all around as everyone got FL in some capacity. I wish you all luck with that.

EDIT: My profile and sig are also updated as well. Also, happy birthday to me today.

It is the diff that it directs you to when you open up the link. In this case, [MEISEI STORY]. This will be the case with all maps.
