Display a more accurate Arrival date on the profile

Hi.

I don't like how some things are shown inaccurately in my profile.

e.g. this



May 8th, 2012.
December 9th 2013 is 2 years afterward, indeed.

I don't see why it should be rounded up for every 6 months.
Also a few months ago it displayed 'about a year ago' on my profile when I've been here for over a year.

My suggestion is that just show the total number of years and months after that player has arrived.

people just go by playcount to see how long someone's been playing

You resolved your own feature request already, just hover your cursor over it and you'll get a more accurate date.

Oh, please...

It's true that I don't see why it is displayed as such though. Having the date of registration would be more convenient for sure, but it's not that bothering, now is it?

Actually the OP brings up an interesting question: why is the arrival even rounded up? Doesn't it make more sense to round it down when dealing with anniversaries (eg time spent working in a company)?

It doesn't bother me but interesting to discuss nonetheless.

EDIT: Actually I got an interesting example on hand. One of my friend mistook another player as me at a tournament rego because our usernames are almost identical. Now check our arrival dates. There's almost 10 months of difference and yet we're both displayed as "3 Years Ago" cue Cirno lol

It used to be like that. If I remember correctly, it used to show like "7 June 2009". I've always liked it better like that. It especially makes more sense for people like this, since although they were early, it's kind of inaccurate.

6 months ago or so it said 3 years for me, now it says 2 years O.o I think he has fixed something not too long ago.

Yours will probably roll over around Jan 26-28?

Anyway I think this rounding up looks weird. It looks more natural to round down to the nearest 0.5 year increments.

I definitely agree. It shouldn't round up after half a year has passed.

Actually, the easiest way to solve this..

"Over 2 years ago" if you've been here for 2 years 10 months for example

Profiles on osu!next will have the month+year you joined on your profile and you can already access it by using next.ppy.sh so I think we can consider this added.
