General Info
I've returned from the dead to bring you our annual top 10 list for the top catch players in Portugal. With a CWC, that feels like it was last year, behind us; I am curious who you think shined the most in 2022 out of all the Portuguese catch players!

My List
For my list I've decided to not include players who were inactive this year.
1. Airdown
Although my good friend air unfortunately didn't join CWC he did briefly play during the beginning of the year before he disappeared in March. Air shows that if there is someone to chase me down the depths of #1 hell it is this man. Reaching close to top 200 again and setting some juicy HR scores. Undoubtedly if this beauty of a man participated in CWC we would've witnessed Portugal's first win in a CWC match.
2. Hiroto-
The rising star of Portugal. Hiroto has not only been one of the fastest growing players we've had in a while but also is the first in a while to threaten top player positions. He started off as a nomod specific player but has branched out into a more diverse playstyle. With mainly converts and HR being some of his largest improvements. He was an irreplaceable member of our CWC roster and was one of the few players that could keep up with the high standard on certain maps.
3. Rosa
Unquestionably the star player of our CWC and 4WC. A convert hidden player to the core. His anti-meta playstyle has shun like no other in the tournament setting competing with high level players. Similar to other years, due to his anti-meta playstyle he also isn't able to perform at the same level on typical meta maps. This didn't stop him from being an absolute unit for both 4wc and CWC.
4. Goncs
Goncs' tournament performance can fluctuate a lot. In CWC he had a couple of plays like in HR1 against Finland where you would not expect a player of his rank to be able to keep up with the mid half of the map (together with hiroto to note!). In 4WC this fluctuation became more evident where you can see goncs' either not perform on maps what you would expect and on other times he would be a god dominating other player's in the match. Although I will be very biased to say this, I think his recent score on ultrasonic says a lot about his future. Such a crazy score he's arguably in competition with the people above him in the list. For me this also justifies placing him above bell and nelson who also did fantastic in 4wc or demi.
5. Demigod Yoxide
The god of demis, the demis of god, and yo of xide. I don't know what I am saying but I do know that demi is a quite rounded player. He mainly misses out on HR as his high ar or high cs performance isn't as up to par as his other skillset. He has fully transitioned from nomod player to HD player. He has become very comfortable with converts and also has tried to pick up the pace with specifics after having left that to dry for too long. He can do low ar HD better than most players in this list, although in my opinion is still a bit lackluster. (4wc has shown very clearly that we're not great at HD)
He's also able to play DT quite well although he can struggle with speedy specific DT maps. If not for his HR ability, or lack thereof, demi is our Jack of all trades master of none. Truly a shame he was not able to participate in 4wc as a hidden and dt player was crucial. (Besides also having more members)
If demi participated I'm confident Portugal could've been top 5.
6. Nelson
A tie! Can you believe it? Nelson surprised me the most in both CWC and especially 4WC. He has practiced a lot of HR for tournaments but don't let that mislead you to think that this man can't play DT. Because he definitely can. He also popped off on nomod in both the match against Australia and Europe. Getting an SS on 8th planet research. Besides his tournament performance this man has been climbing and climbing this year.
Can't wait to see what he has in store for next year.
6. [SS]Bell
Bell has had a great performance in 4WC being the HR carry of the team and also being able to juggle between nomod specific, convert, DT, and ofc HR/MM carry. A long time player showing that he has still got it. Bell also a whole list of loved scores beating lots of top PT players and has quite the score history. Being able to play long and short maps.
Honorable mentions
I know, this isn't really a top 10 but I only had 7 people I felt made sense to put here. Ofc we have strong players such as buffow, gold, and ptrollyo but they have been inactive or have become a relax god.
I would like to honor the next section to the signs that Nicole and Tuga might be back! Two players that have been in the top 10 of PT and are definitely no slouch to catch. The other mention I wanted to make are the new top 50 players! The most immediately notable growth being from DPkf followed by Tyuni, Zeluis, and sagiiT. I hope you guys enjoy catch and look forward to see you all continue to grow.
Personal Message
Although I might not be quite active anymore I wanna thank the small but fun and friendly PT catch community for the good times and friendly banter. Although the possibility for my activity to return is slim I hope this won't retract from your enjoyment of the game. Keep catching fruit guys!
