I've been tinkering with some of my collected skins and combining them to create whatever result I wish to achieve, but now I've hit a brick wall as I can't seem to get the custom playfields or let alone find one. You know those boxes that cover the actual playfield of osu that some skins have (i.e Varvalian skins, Seoulv9 skin). It's either I don't know what type of skin element I'm actually looking for or it's just not a thing with new skins anymore. Please help.

Playfield covers were always put on scorebar-bg. But most skins nowadays don't utilize those, so you may just find a regular HP bar background instead.
