Where did that come from?? Is that something only people outside of Philippines do? Never seen someone I know IRL do that.
Oh, why is so used here?Zelzatter Zero wrote:

It's like one of the text emoji. Instead of choosing 👋, o/ is really easy to do and saves time.jaredlol123 wrote:

not that old, 2008-2013 were the shining days of those "emojis"THAT_otaku wrote:
large group of people all around the world use it, its just an internet thing (though i feel like it leans towards mainly older internet users and osu players (cause shige)). Theres also o7 which is a salute instead of a wave and other variations too like /o7 |o/ etc which are rarely used
That's like 9-14 years ago, not as old as the internet itself but that's like nearly half a generation apart already.Polyspora wrote:

i always use urban dictionary to find the meaning of the emoticons cuz google cant read special characters.abraker wrote:

why are you talking like shigetora brought it up to the community lol, if you search the forums (more common on farewells) you can see 13-14 years old threads using this emoji. Facebook was always a strange place to use internet lingo, so formal and shit. but if you went into someone else's blog, a online game (DDTank, Transfromice and WoW for example) you would see it 100% of the time, usually comes with a hi, like this "hi (insert name) o/"jaredlol123 wrote:
So shige popularize it on osu or made it more popular?????Interesting, I never had this on Facebook, even in the past, or at least not really using "o/" for Waving a hand. It's very well used here in osu like I will see it everywhere. Even the other discords I joined doesn't use it but discord has its own wave I guess that's why
my bad, i always use it in osu chats even back in those yearsPolyspora wrote:

I said shige made it more popular, not bringing it to the community? Did I misunderstood the other post? I see, so its used in more older games. We also use these things as well as reactions and emoticons in messenger and facebook. Yeah, fb is less formal in Ph that it feels like twitter, tiktok, youtube, and twitch combined since most people use it. Tho I do see it in some threads, it still seems that "o/" is more widespread in osu these days. Thanks for the reply and info.Polyspora wrote:

the stickman emoticons were popular in america and europe, japan and the east had their own way of phrasing their emotions, maybe its the same case with philippines?
