At the beginning the bottom shows which keys represent which column. Is there any way to keep the letters visible throughout the entire song? Normally they fade away when the song starts.

No but this shouldn't really be a problem. You aren't supposed to be looking down there anyways. It's best to relate the notes to your fingers than the actual keyboard keys :/
Maybe if Peppy implements per-note skinning then you could implement it on your skin. But as things stand now, I'm pretty certain it's not possible.
Mind if I ask why you want to do this? We can most likely find an alternate way to get the results you want.

It's for my sister, she plays mania, I play standard. She's coming from OMGPOP's Hit Machine, which keeps the note names on it, so she wants mania to be as similar as possible. (Familiarity issues? /shrug)
Actually you'll be able to only skin 3/7 keys with letters, Drace was right \o/.wait99 wrote:

Unfortunately, as it stands, it's impossible. Like Drace said, you shouldn't be focusing on that anyway. There'll be an adjustment period, but if she keeps playing, she'll get used to mania just fine.
