there's not one tournament for 'good' players and only a few for even decent ones
It's not cool to exclude the dedicated minority like that, who would appreciate competition the most. what it ends up with is tournaments that are parodies of real competitions because everyone is shit.

I don't check the tournament as much as I did, but I remember being slightly pissed why nobody would make a tournament for 80k-90k players.
To be honest, wouldn't it be harder to make a fair tournament for people under 10k? There are thousands of way to reach 40k, mine was playing the high bpm 3.8+ stars Hard until I ran out of map. I didn't start playing Insane until 35k or so. I've seen a player who got to 40k by playing HD HR DT Normal with 99.5%+ accuracy. At least everybody with 4 digits (I think) can play 4.5+ stars map. Pretty sure silmarilen said something along the line of, "5 stars is where effort is necessary for every player".
5.4 stars is where actual effort is necessary basically.
