PM from BanchoBot when you dont have the map

I really hate when non supporters are specting random persons and they ask for /np all the time
I would like to request somthing like, when you are watching someone play and you dont have the map, BanchoBot PMs you with "<User> is playing <map>"
and sorry if this its duplicate :c I really dont read forum much

Seems that there are people who didnt understood this request, this isnt an ONLINE AUTO DOWNLOADER, its just a np from banchobot for those who doesnt have the map when spectating someone.

But doesn't that already exist? At least for supporters.

It's more of a convenience rather than a necessity, so I'd say to keep it a supporter-only feature.

For support its the Osu! direct thing
This thing only /np the beatmap e-e not direct download it

i believe this was request not too long ago but then linking it in #spec every time the person starts playing a new map

when you have a supporter status you can download a map easily without closing the game, using osu! direct and don't mind much about how non-supporter feels like. not all people have the ability to pay for their supporter status everytime it is over.

when your supp is ended its too annoying and unusual when you need to search for an exact song and there are 3 or more maps of this song (for example 'no pain no game'), user is playing Insane and all 3 maps have the same named difficulty and you need to download all of the maps to finally start spectating.

imo this feature should exist u_u

or it's better to have the popup window clickable linking to a beatmap page like we already have clickable '<user> is now online ' popup which transfer us into the pm tab

Not a bad idea, I was thinking of that at the begining but I dont know why I didn't write it here, thanks :D!

I'd publicly support but I have no stars, so you have my silent support, I think the BanchoBot account isn't really used for much and this little feature isn't that much and it gives more use to the account.

Idk why people like to complain about downloading from the site. I even download from the site even though I have supporter.

Generally downloading from site is not bad, but the fact that you spect someone and can't get the accurate beatmap with ease is bad.

The problem isn't with download from the site. The problem is w/o supporter you need to search after that song and probably when you already have it, the spectated is already changed to another map and go on like this.

Supporting this. Too bad I don't have yet the stars even I've got my supporter tag.
It would be really a good idea to make people locate the beatmap easier.

Just an example if I spectated a user without having a copy of the beatmap.

I think that could be introduced.
Getting a link from BanchoBot that directly leads to the URL of the beatmap is practical for the non-supporters. I see no reason not to implement this.

It sounds to me like it'd also fit very well(maybe more so) for multi games, as to minimize the wait between song switches where one or several users lack the map the host has picked. I support this, but the OsuDirect popup serves the same purpose for supporters, so maybe peppy would like it to be supporter-exclusive? All speculation, of course.

Just throwing my idea of an alternative here: how about making a request for expanding the existing /np command? eg

/np (followed by nothing) will display what you're playing at the moment
/np [username] will display what that user is playing at the moment

Then there will be no issue regarding the auto /np being too similar to the Supporter feature, and it gives more functionality imo cause one can /np multiple players.

Still if someone new comes in the middle of the map and he/she ask for a /np when there is already a conversation it will be annoying even with your suggestion Oinari. I'm not against it but I prefer the original idea. And even tho its similar they are not the same.

Sure, I'd prefer the original idea too, but there are concerns that it's too similar to the supporter feature. The alternative I suggested is an attempt to get rid of that concern.

And if someone new comes in asking for /np as stated in your example, tell them to use the "/np username" command and don't ask it again next time. It's better to teach someone how to fish than spoon feed them.

This would actually be better than the OP's suggestion, as you can use this to get maps someone is playing without having to flash-spec them.

Because when someone says "np please" , 7 out of 10 times the ones who respond to it are supporters. Well this is annoying, I don't want to see spam in the spectator chat, and I don't believe no one does either, so just let them have their link and leave supporters be peaceful (lol)

hmmm

I have supporter though one of my friends doesn't. However when he spectates me even though he doesn't have supporter, Bancho automatically /nps in the "spectator" chat

I thought this was already in osu..... unless I misunderstood something again

There's an option to auto /np when they start a new song from menu, but if you come midway there is no /np
