Does taking a break actually helps gameplay?

Hello people, its me again, that one annoying 6 digit who probably asks all the questions. If you check my profile or have checked or reviewed it before, you will notice my highest top play is done over 3 months ago, meaning I haven’t improve much since. A week or so before, I have also asked on forum about my fingers locked up during high intensity jumps, and after training, nothing has changed. So now I have decided to leave osu for a bit before coming back fresh, but worries that it would do no good but instead makes me even worse. So I decided to ask on forum yet again, does taking a break actually helps you within any of your gameplay?

No. Being rusty means you are playing bad due to not playing much or taking a break. Playing bad will not help your gameplay.

If you mean "Will taking a break from osu! help" then yes, any sized break will help really.

Let me tell you my experience

2-3 days ago i took a break
around 1week and when i come back circles feel weird when look at them lol
My accuracy decreased (recovered)
My stamina is fully gone. I am still not able to gain it back
I forgot how to tap bursts and few patterns (recoverd)

I stop mind blocking
More consistent
Lose some of my bad habits. Example- many times i hit a pattern but idk how did i hit it

In total If you think you have got a bad habit and you wanna lose it then take a break
I think you should take a small break and after that start playing from maps which you are comfortable

I take breaks constantly, I don't think i've ever actualy played osu for more than 5 consecutive days.
In my experience, breaks are were I build the most skill.

I just now came back from like a 1 week break and set 4 of my top plays in less than a week

you'll probably get worse at streaming, and have to regain the speed. Everytime I take a break I have to build all my speed and stamina again

this goes for most things btw.

putting in the practice builds both fatigue and skill. fatigue decreases your skill, so taking a break to lose the fatigue makes you perform better.

obviously for osu and other video games its mostly mental fatigue (mind blocks, boredom, bad habits, etc) though.

I took a 3 week break and I saw absolutely no improvements, only negatives. I have yet to gain my aim and speed that I once had before that break (I'm about two weeks back). Seeing the other comments makes me think that I must be an anomaly though and you will probably increase in skill instead, but it seems as that is not guaranteed.

3 weeks seems a bit too long

Nah Wither Ive had months off at a time (with like a couple hours played pissing around playing random stuff in those months) and I still felt a big improvement after coming back still. That might not be the case for everyone though of course, but its still possible that itll turn out that way for others

Imho 4-5 days of a break is optimal. I've recently took a 5-day break and it feels good to restart your mind once in a while. Also, your hands will thank you for that.

I don't think so.
You can play too little and you can play too much.
And let me put it this way - most people are not playing to the point where their bodies fail to keep up with playing the game, because of pain, major discomfort, injury or physical exhaustion.
kujubuo
yes but if you have played like 1 hour only and taked a break it wont work that much. But if you have played too much it will work

Osu skills are like cement... you have to let it harden first... so yes taking a short break(1-3 days) is recommended.

took a break for 2 weeks cause of covid and from 200k (edit: 190k idk i forgor) went to 170k in less than 5 days when i recovered. also 1 missed a 6* when i dont even think i could do 5* and 200pp was very doable at the time. now i cant even get sub 5 miss on that same map.

i think breaks are good.

Took a month of break because i started to become busy, since i just graduated highschool and became a college student, plus genshin and pubishing gray raven...
And in my experience, after a month of break, it gave me five 400pp playsand even got my first 7 star fc badge

It's actually a rare necro W

Anyway, if you're rusty guys, you should derust as soon as possible because it doesn't help with gameplay at all.

A use case for taking breaks could be used for mental reasons though
