Had a quick search on this and I didn't see something similar. My bad if this is duplicated.

Currently the slider hit frequency is automatically determined by BPM and slider tick rate (The last bar on timing section). Details as follows :
  • For tick rate 3 :
    BPM <250 : 1/6
    BPM >=250 : 1/3

    For other tick rates ( 1, 2, 4 ) :
    BPM <=125 : 1/8
    BPM >125 and <250 : 1/4
    BPM >=250 : 1/2
I'd like a feature that allows mappers to select the hit rate of taiko sliders, rather than limited by the above conditions.
This can be achieved by something like this:

Be note that the original "Slider Tick Rate" in timing section will no longer have effects on slider hit frequency.

The benefits of this suggestion are as follows:
  • 1: Mappers can choose the hit rate for every green/red line, which means a single taiko difficulty can have more than one slider hit rate.
    (eg This allows having 1/3 sliders in one part of the song, and 1/4 sliders in another part.)
    This is because some songs have 1/3-based and 1/4-based beats on different parts.
    Forcing only 1 hit rate of slider will discourage mappers to use sliders in certain parts, probably lowering the quality of taiko maps.

    2: This suggestion also helps avoid the situation that the taiko difficulty is forced to use 1/8 sliders.
    Songs that have BPM of <= 125 will be forced to have 1/8 sliders, as mentioned above
    1/8 sliders are usually not very suitable for gameplay because it is quite difficult for players to hit all ticks in the sliders
    ( Since 1/8 = Twice dense of 1/4. BPM 125 1/8 will be same as BPM 250 1/4 )
    Such sliders may also don't fit the softer and less intense feelings brought by the slower songs.
Any thoughts ?

- allow red have custom speed instead adding green line too,
- only affects taiko mode, not other mode for now.

but yeah this idea is nice, support.

for compatibility, don't forget that it needs "default defined value" for certain bpm :D like the conditions that currently used to determine drumroll tick

Reasonable, but then this could have problems for maps with different time signatures with same BPM ? My bad, red line should be used in that case lol
Also we need more concrete reasons stating why green lines shouldn't be allowed to have different tick rates

Sure, as the title suggests.

Yes, we would need some general guidelines stating what tick rates are suitable for different BPM and difficulty ( Kantan ~ Oni )

And thanks for supporting this :)

If this would be implemented, taiko mapping with sliders would be way more easier and we would have the possibilites to variate them more and in a fair way with the music.
I support this as well, especially because currently the slider on high and low BPMs dosen't fit at all.

Support ~ it would also go great with a taiko-specific editor if one is ever implimented

I vote we just remove slider ticks, and every slider have a cap like they already do, you can just play them at a personally comfortable speed. This works too, though.

Sorry for late response

Possible, but won't that make sliders play very similar to spinners? Because spinners can be played at the speed players want.
Also I guess it would make sliders too easy as players will just smash keys like a crazy ?

Aww yeah #TnT Style

I support both aabc's and MMzz's idea either one would be better

bump - This needs more attention.

Someone changed his mind, kek.
I'm a bit unsure whether the linked request sufficiently covers this one as it looks like it wouldn't cover different sliderfrequencies within one map.
Personally I'd be fine with the linked one as a rhythm that isn't dominant in a map doesn't look like it should be covered by a slider, rather by actual notes.
It would rather encourage the use of sliders over difficult spots with a fitting time signature in easier difficulties which doesn't look like a good thing to me.
