just wondering
The ideal 7k layout is to use both 3 middle fingers in your hand as they have the most strength, then your thumb (or thumbs alternating) for the middle key. Using a pinky is pretty difficult in most cases and will get much much harder if you decide keep using it for higher level player. This is only speaking for 7k however, not 5k.uugene wrote:

human anatomy. Nerves are split between the ring/middle and ring/pinky, making those fingers awkward to move very independently from one another unless you train them. But even so, it wont be as good as say ur index and ring fingers moving together.uugene wrote:

Using both thumbs is quite hard to even get started so it's recommended to just use one thumb unless you have incredible reading abilities.Bobbias wrote:
Many patterns in odd key modes will use symmetrical patterns. If someone uses an index finger for the middle key, that means that symmetrical patterns are no longer symmetrical for your fingers.
That is only one example of the disadvantages that using a non standard layout (by standard I mean symmetrical between fingers, excluding thumbs).
Ideally, you want to use both thumbs on space, although most players do not learn that technique. By having 2 fingers available on space, you can use whichever finger works best for the specific pattern you need to hit, and can alternate thumbs for faster sections, which lets you compensate for the generally slower speed of your thumbs.
But even without the advantage of both thumbs, you still have an advantage using 1 thumb on space compared to other layouts.
