What would be the longest beatmap ever made? Is there a limit to how long you can make a beatmap too?

There's marathon maps that are over 20 and 30 minutes long. They only get approved though, not ranked.
I would say the limit for a regular song is probably ~4 minutes, but it really just depends.

Longest beatmap that I know of is parapara max:
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/972
It's about...38 minutes long I think?
Of my beatmap inventory, the longest Ranked Beatmap should be luvotomy, followed by Compilation.
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/696
<- luvotomy (5:41)
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/2085
<-- Compilation (5:16)
Note that these two maps are old before the Approved Ranking was implemented.
Maps that are too long go to Approved. A rule of thumb would be 5 minutes or more. Check the Beatmap Ranking Guidelines.

The longest approved map is Yoko Ishida - paraparaMAX I. It goes for 36:17. The longest ranked map that I have seen is Capcom Sound Team - Street Fighter 2 Megamix. It goes for 5:32.
Edit - too slow.
