The only real answer I have is. . .

p r a c t i c e

(No, seriously though. The more you play and get used to 7K in mania!, the better you'll get and overall improve. I would start off with lower keys like 4k or 6k if possible and build from there ^^)

► Have Patience. Finger independence take some times to learn but when you learn it, it's worth it.
► Vary your plays. Don't plays the same beatmaps again and again.
► Don't be affraid to play harder maps. My rules "If you do a 88% accuracy in this map, you can learn. Less than 88% is just no brain spam."
► Find a key setup where you are comfortable. example, mine is AZR SPACE IOP because my hand is big (AZERTY keyboard btw ).
► EnJoY tHe GaMe.

Tips from me for all beginner:

Most important one:
  1. Don't play convert map (osu standard mode map), play mania map instead, it has piano logo. if you confused then just go to song filter - mode - osu!mania
  1. Use fixed scroll speed. go to setting - general - then turn off "Scale osu!mania scroll speed with BPM", then pick how much speed you comfortable with using ctrl + f3/f4
  1. Play 1* or 2* first, if you can reach A score consistently then move to 3* and repeat it again (* = stars in map difficulty)
  1. Practice frequently. what i mean is like this, 1 day play 1 hour for ten day, not 1 day play 10 hour for one day (sorry if this confusing, it is so hard to explain xD)
  1. Change to custom skin because osu default skin is too skinny and not so visible which makes game harder i think

  1. Play song/map that you like, you are not gonna improve when you play map that you don't like
Less important one:
  1. If you can, use mechanical keyboard, because it is more comfortable and.. i don't know, it just improve gameplay a lot
  1. Cut your finger nails before playing (long finger nails is not comfortable for me)
  1. If your hand is sticky / sweaty then use powder (i use baby powder)
  1. For "space button" use your dominant hand, if you right handed then use right thumb, left handed use left thumb
  1. Play with people in multiplayer mode, you are not as energetic as playing with other people when you play solo even though osu is not "direct player interaction game" like CS-GO but it is there. i feel it my self, sometime i cannot even beat my score that i play in multiplayer when i play solo
For me 4k is about speed, 7k is about muscle memory, that's why they say "play more!" because play more will build your muscle memory and that's what make you better =)

You've only been playing for a month. It takes years for most players to get decent at 7k.

If you are still at the same skill level after a year, then you should maybe look into changing things up

I recently started as well, about 2 weeks ago. If you want to share maps or maybe practice with me send me a message.

I would like to stress the importance of playing a ton of different maps

This comes from a guy who plays the same maps over and over and doesnt improve and wonders why and comes to the same conclusion every single time

Forget the 7k and continue with the 4k.

7k is not worth the effort.

How to learn 7k:

Play maps that are super easy until you can hit every single note without thinking.

Then look for maps that have 2 things: faster single notes, preferably short clumps of faster single notes; and 2 note chords.

Then look for maps that expose you to different combinations of single notes and 2 note or 3 note chords.
Slowly work your way up both in speed, and in handling chords.

Once you can handle chords and single notes in different patterns, that's when you should begin to focus on learning to handle LNs (long notes, holds).

When trying to learn LNs, remember: you need to both press and release the key on time to get a good accuracy rating on LNs.

When you start learning LNs, look for maps with single LNs being held, and other notes being played at the same time. LNs make reading much harder, so you need to start out simple, and get a feeling for what it feels like to play different notes (and later, chords) while holding a key down.

Learning 7k takes more time than 4k to get through the beginning phases of learning. Just reading 7k is harder than reading 4k. There are many more possible patterns that your brain has to learn.

It's also common to have periods of time where your improvement slows down, or stops for a while, so you shouldn't expect to always play at or near your peak skill.

And don't compare your learning speed to other players. Everyone ;earns differently. Everyone has different amounts of time to devote to the game, everyone has different map choices when they play, some people have natural talent for rhythm games, and some people do not. All of that affects the speed that someone learns at.

Talent: some people are just naturally going to pick up rhythm games and get good fast. Most people will not. Some people will be unlucky, and improve even slower than most people. It's not fair to anyone to compare your learning speed to other people's.

Mindset: you need to decide what part of this game you find the most rewarding. Are you playing just to improve and see how good you can get? Are you trying to rank up and get the most pp and highest rank you can get? Would you rather just toss on an easy map to mindlessly SS, or do you want to push yourself and see if you can even survive something that's way too hard for you?

If you decide you are taking things seriously and want to be competitive, you need to take some time and learn how to practice specific skills. If not, them you can basically play whatever. As long as you make sure not to avoid certain kinds of patterns, you should mostly see slow, steady improvement.

If you lack finger independence, it's not a bad idea to play convert maps(it's what I did). Push your limits on the daily; don't be afraid to get A ranks or even B ranks. Play a variety of different maps as well. Stretch your hands, find a skin that's comfortable for you, and play more. Be patient with yourself as well. If you need more help, feel free to PM me when I'm online :D I used to be a 4k player up until february of this year, so I know exactly how you feel when you ask the questions you are asking. Best of luck!
