I am a returning player, and I have over 60,000 beatmaps that require sorting. Sorting by "Date Added," playing through each individual song, and then placing them into folders such as "Tech Maps," "Stream Maps," etc., have been a part of my daily regimen for osu!. As I find myself using the number keys 1,2, and 3 to efficiently sort through songs, I have accidentally deleted my folders containing 10,000+ beatmaps by pressing 1 twice in a row, which deletes them without confirmation. This has happened many times, and re-adding them back to new folders proves to be a rigorous and monotonous task.

By adding a [Lock] option to folders, players would never be able to delete a folder, even if they pressed the the number 1 key twice in a row. They would still be able to add and remove songs within them, completely removing fears of ever losing a folder, whilst maintaining the editability of them.

You can force kill osu! from task manager if you want to prevent collections from saving. Collections save only when osu properly closes. Saved me a few times when I accidently deleted a collection.

I just tested what you recommended, and while this does work, I believe relying on a safeguard outside of the osu! application still allows folders to be accidentally deleted. A lock function would completely remove risk of any sort of deletion, as well as prevent the usage of task manager in such cases. I also believe it would provide a general sense of safety when sorting through thousands of beatmaps; I'm sure many players have experienced accidental deletion like me.

Perhaps instead it would make more sense to have a confirmation message like there is when you press "Delete all visible beatmaps". This will give the user a reasonable chance to stop the deletion. I don't think a "lock" feature exactly fits with the rest of osu!.

Probably would have to be in lazer regardless.
