Nice! I think one of the first backend things I did is make a discord bot. The most ambitious backend thing I did is a bot that monitors forums. It runs this thread necro game lol

Oh damn that's actually really cool. I actually develop a few Discord bots myself. One of the biggest ones I've created is for a venting server that I've administrated for the past two or so years that handles isolation, private venting systems, and other stuff customised for the server. ooo nice! I had a bigger project in the works, but it fell apart since the relations with the person I was collabing the project with deteriorated. The plan was to make a discord bot that runs OCR on score screenshots and automatically enters them into a leaderboard which players can use discord bot to view. It would have been able to recognize score screens from osu!, Etterna, and FlashFlashRevolution. We got as far as getting the discord bot up, core server backend set, and FFR scores being recognized 90% of the time.

Doing that with osu! would have been... interesting. I have absolutely no clue how I would have handled osu! result screens as text can be anything due to skins. Prob advanced neural net or something. I wish I new more about AI stuffs :\

Perhaps you could try and use AI to try and figure out what it says as well as you can and try to compare it with the user's osu profile to see if it is accurate and correct anything that was wrongly parsed? I think that should be possible - I need to research the osu API moreabraker wrote:

You would need to gather thousands of screenshot and manually assign what score in what user's profile they belong to. Then consider that score in user's profile gets overwritten or pushed out by better scores. That's like nghhhhhh argh.
It's better to just go through screenshots and fill in info by hand. Which is still a tedious task.

That's true. If you want any inspiration there's this really cool bot called Kirameki which has a osu! Score Screens Analyzer event - best of all it is open source!abraker wrote:

Oh I see. The top header stuff is standard text that isn't skinnable. It can use that and request profile info and get the score info that way. Guess that's good to keep in mind. I see it uses Tesseract, but if I were to use the code I would need to port it as I written the stuff in Python.

I'd imagine there's probably tesseract implementations in Python too. Also, I only just noticed that you are actually one of the core developers behind osu!skills - that's really cool! I've always been interested by that site - how you actually come up with the figures and analyse the scores like that it's really interestingabraker wrote:

I only came up with the reaction skill from scratch, and did minor fixes to the other skills. For reaction skill I didn't really analyze scores, just based it on limitations in human ability. I did some research on human reaction time, making a bunch models. Started by fitting the graph from human benchmark website: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/9j26q2g5v4. Did some research of reaction based on screen refresh rate, AR, etc. Modeled reaction time with respect to how far the object is away from the center of the eye, hz of screen and other stuff, but I didn't end up using this: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/nlrvwgjlui.
