There is a reason, ranking maps requires either having BAT friends or mapping songs under 2 minutes long. The ranking system does not support ranking a map if one does not meet the above criteria, as the amount of time a mapper would have to put into trying to get their map ranked would be in the range of months or even years which is impractical for most people so they just plain don't even try.

This creates the ~graveyard maps~. Maps that are not for rank. This thread is dedicated to the graveyard maps, which are fun for many people, but also unrankable in the current state of the ranking system.

Gonna update the op here with a maplist. Anybody who has maps they want to add to the list, post a maplink, I'll scan the thread and update the op with maps every once in a while. The maps have to be graveyarded, not pending.

For each map I'll mark the main difficulty (mapper's / hardest, or if the mapper's is unfinished, then the main GD) and give it a level display too since unranked maps tend to be harder, so just to give you a rooting to sort by. They might have more difficulties that are fun too, GDs etc, so try everything not just the one that's marked. Also, the easier maps on the list are very fun as DT maps.

Can't forget Groundhog and deltaMAX. Some of their difficulties have really dumb parts, but if those were fixed up then they'd be funner than pretty much every ranked map.

I am not so sure about the quote, it could be out of context. I mean, ranking maps that don't fit the ranking criteria, that's kinda new to me.
Also this can easily be abused, don't like the ranking criteria? No problem, just let it grave and it will get ranked!

On the other hand, the only other option would be like a specific ranking group for such maps (like approval, but something else), which don't affect your ranked statistics but have their own scoreboard. That makes sense, but ranking those maps certainly does not.

Quality-wise and design-wise there is nothing in the maps that I've listed so far that is unrankable map-wise. The only thing that prevents those maps from getting ranked is the mappers' lack of connections with BATs and thus less of desire to actively pursuit ranking for them since they know it will be in vain. Testament to that is certain maps that only got ranked recently after fighting for rank for over half a year, while other maps are getting speedranked in 3 weeks or less simply because they're either for a very short song or by a person with BAT connections.

Yeah, no.
afaik peppy wasn't talking about maps that don't fit the ranking criteria, but those that don't get ranked due to the mapper being inactive or the lack of mods.

Having this said, obviously, none of the maps that lack easy diffs can be ranked.

It's a different case for, e.g. this map. This map is like perfect and could be approved right now, without anyone complaining.

Tom's (aka Pancake's) difficulty calculator. Probably the most accurate app when it comes to determining a map's difficulty.
