Last night, I wanted to play some multiplayer with a friend. I'm using lazer, he's using stable. I wouldn't show up as online for him in stable when I started playing but he showed up as online for me when I used lazer, and when I made a lobby, he couldn't find it at all.

Can you not play cross-version yet? I know lazer is still in development, so I'm just trying to figure out if it's possible to play cross version multiplayer like normal from lazer to stable. When I say "Multiplayer like normal" I mean how MP works in stable right now, so I can change the map and mods after every song, instead of the current playlist feature that seems to be the only option. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if it's just not implemented yet.

It isn't possible to play cross-version.

Currently in lazer the only multiplayer available is "Timeshift", which is different than the multiplayer you are used to playing in stable. I believe plans are to implement a multiplayer system similar to stable's in addition to that at some point though.

Timeshift is essentially correspondence osu lobbys, only in Lazer. For a set period of time participants can play the maps that have been selected, whenever they want to. Read more here:

Please don't bump old threads in the future, this one is 1 1/2 years old :)

So I have a friend who uses normal osu and wanted to play with me but since I have a mac (bad decision I know) and can only play osu lazer, we can't make a room together. Is that how it works?
