I sometimes use osu for background music on the starting screen, I think it'd be great to play specific collections.

obligatory osu is not music player comment
You can already do this by selecting your collection and keeping it open
Click the triple lines in the top right corner:
Then click your collection in the top left:
Keep it open if you want it to keep playing songs from that collection.
You can alt-tab and do whatever during.

Pretty much this.
It's a game, not an mp3 player. This has been denied several times in the past.
