I've always typed with the left shift key and I almost never uses the right shift.

But I've noticed that some very fast typist tend to use the right shift.
Which one do you prefer using? And are there any benefits of using either one over the other?

I use left shift just because that was the intuitive key to type when I started using computer. Alternating is probably faster if you know what you are doing but you'd need to spend time learning how to alternate efficiently.

I use to press the Right shift more frequently, Although I do sometimes press the left shift.

Right shift because it's easier to me. But sometime I alternate.

You always use the shift of the opposite hand to the letter you want to type.
Trying to type a capital A by pressing shift+a with your left pinky at the same time is likely going to prove very difficult if you are actually 10-finger touchtyping.

Occasionally I'll remember that R-Shift exists and I'll try to use it when necessary. But most of the time I solely use L-Shift. If you want to type more efficiently it would help to use both, but I don't really bother. I never learned how to "properly" type on a keyboard as well so that might be why. I know that some friends of mine had simple keyboard/typing classes for that during their elementary schools.
