Not really here for the points, but just thinking about how we narrowly avoided a tourist trap in Bali. I'm stupid, I assume that because we've been riding horses for a long time and elephants are much bigger than horses, that elephants are fine with rides. Turns out this is not the case. In any case, the place we went to charged US$70 per head. We weren't paying that, that's more than twice the price of admission to the zoo in my country. Google reviews later warned us of animal abuse happening at that place. However true or false whatever the hosts or former visitors tell us, we knew something was up when they charged that kind of money...
EDIT: Before people yell at me for supporting the Singapore Zoo... Well, Steve Irwin gave us a thumbs up when he visited us in the early 2000s, so it should be fine...
i do think they were somewhat hasty assumptions when these are such distinct kinds of animals but you ultimately hadn't done anything anyway, and this was an understandable response overall... i can't really imagine paying that either
also i doubt you would have gotten much backlash here of all places, most people are ignorant about those contexts (if not that, then i'm at least speaking for myself) but you've made whatever informed/uninformed decisions made sense to you... i can't imagine i or anyone else would be in much of a position to compel anything from you, even in light of wishing that people avoided being complicit in perpetuating animal abuse
granted, we can only make assumptions until we've known it for ourselves, and we can only hope there would be protections in place for the assurance of their welfare someday soon...
so, you're okay <3
i guess it's at least an informative experience, yeah? :

(sorry if i didn't say much, my brain's still trying to wake up, lol.)"
i love thattt qvq
i find it so endearing when someone can give so much attention and care to listening and being aware of you and your needs, demonstrating how much they value your wellbeing... i'm glad to hear you have that from someone like him <3
