Well, what better way to get into the holiday spirit than a little bit of beatmapping fun! In this contest, mappers will create beatmaps based on each other's short text prompts. The limit is your imagination!
- November 1 – Contest announcement and forum post.
- November 1-11 – Prompt submissions open.
- November 11 – Prompt deadline. Prompts distributed. For your prompt, be sure to check your osu! inbox for a message from -mint- or RandomeLoL!
- November 11-December 3 – Mapping period.
- December 3-20 – Judging period.
- December 23 – Showcase on the osuBSM Twitch channel (time TBD)! The top 8 submissions and more will be shown along with live commentary, along with the results.
To ensure baseline quality of submissions, there are some requirements for joining the contest.
As of November 1, 2023, you must have at least one of the following:
- one ranked beatmap or guest difficulty,
- one loved beatmap,
- OR participation as a custom mapper in a badged/officially supported tournament (MWC, 4DM, etc.).
- Prompt must not exceed 5 words in length and may only contain alphanumeric characters or common punctuations. Hyphenated words count as multiple words.
- Prompt may be a descriptive genre/style, or abstract concept/phrase.
- Prompt may not be a song or artist name or in direct reference to one. Indirect references are okay, but use them at your own discretion.
- Prompt must adhere to osu! Rules (wiki/en/Rules) where applicable.
The organizers reserve the right to disqualify or request revisions for any submission, but will ensure that the prompt submitter will be informed in a timely manner. Only those with submitted prompts may participate in the contest, so disqualification for a prompt submission will result in disqualification from the contest entirely.
- Submission must be in .osz format.
- Submission should be an osu!mania beatmap in a keymode that abides by the ranking criteria (4 to 10 keys).
The length of the beatmap must be between 1:00 and 6:00. - Submission must only contain one difficulty.
- Submission should have a background of reasonable quality.
- Hitsounds and storyboards are optional. They may be taken into account in judging.
- Difficulty name should be identical to the prompt received.
- osu!’s AutoMod should be able to achieve maximum score on the beatmap.
- Submission must NOT be uploaded to the osu! website until after the contest’s results are finalized.
- Your submission must be solely made by you. Collaborations are not allowed for this contest!
Judges
Each submission will be graded out of 50 points, which are broken down as follows:
- Fidelity to the original prompt: 20 points
- Creativity: 10 points
- Gameplay: 10 points
- Conceptual execution: 10 points
- 1 month osu!supporter to the mappers of the top 8 submissions.
