I'm rather speechless, to say the least.
You have turned osu! into a different game, and it still plays well.
However, I find it odd that Hard is ranked higher than Maniac even though it seems like it shouldn't, but that's not a problem.
Although, it seems odd that you have the section-pass and section-fail images skin, but not the sound, you should add a blank wav for those two.
Other than hearing the sounds of passing and failing, I would be able to bubble this, and will if you fix that.

I removed the images because it was distracting on the tutorial. Hopefully a 0 byte file will work just fine, if not I'll get a blank wav or something.

I'm unsure as to why Hard has a higher star rating. I think it's because the note spacing on the timeline is very strange, whereas maniac is even notes/really long streams. If BATs could change Maniac's star rating to 5, that would be super, but this probably won't be implemented until osz2. It is, without a doubt, one of the hardest maps I've ever played on osu.

Sorry, no.

were this a normal map I'd welcome a taiko, but it's not, and it's not like this is a unique song to osu.

With the new DJMAX osuka skin coming along, please be patient while I update the skin a little, and possibly change the name so future technika style maps all have something similar in them.

Edit: and we're all set. Hope everyone likes the new skin.

Yes, and in previous versions I had the flash.png uploaded, but I never made it because in actual technika, it is really a countdown, and after it's done, the approach bar appears.

I'll work on it a little bit, as I already have the graphics made, I just never implemented it.

I've never played either, though I would love to try. I don't think there are any machines within 300 miles of where I live though...

my android pad plays it alright, but no stacking, colors, sounds, or storyboard, so I'm not getting the real feel.

Sweet, thanks. This map isn't sight readable at all, since it literally is a different game, so some of the things that will catch people (like the bigger jumps) won't be surprises when they actually go to play it.

updated with the 44 byte audio silencers because apparently they cause a problem, but only when looped? Oh well. Another day, another full submit.

And I fixed the purple color on hard, even though I never use it...

This is nicely made! Not a big fan of the quiet hitsounds (makes me feel like I'm missing when I'm not) but maybe that's intentional when keeping the source material in mind, I don't know.

I hope to see this in the approved section someday.

I believe you must have a approach circle. This is osu! You can't just turn it into another game. Unrankable stuff dude... >.< You see, people can't just go in and edit the beatmap and take away the skin by hand.. That's just way to hard for everyone who wants to play it normally.. It's an awesome beatmap, but this can't be rankable unless you do something about this.

Um, MATs and BATs have said it's all fine. This is osu!, but this beatmap isn't based on it.
BUT IT CAN'T BE POSSIBLE! They're blinded by the awesomeness and can't see that this in reality.. Can't happen here on osu! We all have guide-lines to follow when mapping.. This creates a separate style of playing! What we're used to, is now different! Hardrock won't work and hidden is just the same! ;__; Shall we show this to peppy and see what he has to say? I have no idea what will happen with this beatmap. People will find this in beatmaps, when it's not really the osu! they're used to play.

How can anyone play hidden?

Also, playing with an approach circle is hard as hell unless you know the song (one more reason approach rate is so low). Unfortunately for me, I've played it so much I know it backwards and forwards so I just ignore them if I turn them on.

NB rangers returns got approved in the past. Even though the ranking criteria has changed significantly, it was clearly not rankable/approvable then, and was approved for its sheer awesomeness. Unfortunately nobody has tried to recreate this until I made this (I found one other example, but I think they gave up on it). I think if they had, we would have more technika styled maps. I certainly plan on making more. Next up will probably be shoreline.

And because this beatmap is missing this and we're only to rely on the SB which most people are completely unfamiliar with!! CRAZY!!!


Also.. WHAAAAAAAAT. That's strange.. I didn't know such beatmap existed and could be ranked before.. But that's an old beatmap. It still doesn't make any sense that it should be allowed. THIS IS OSU! GODDAMMIT ;____;

If you're good enough to play it with the approach circle, you're good enough to learn how to play it with the approach bar.

yes. But the whole point of kiai is that the stars are annoying. I do it because it helps keep the beat and because it's authentic.

My only problem is that the notes tend to skip a lot up and down the loading track. This wouldn't be a problem if the beats were skipped on occasions where a traditional jump would be acceptable, but in most cases, it isn't.

Otherwise, the map has a problem leading players to the opposite track for the next wave. Having to follow that bar is downright confusing at first, and if you led them downward with the combo that ends the top bar, and vice-versa, it would mean a lot to the overall quality of play

Lastly, It would do you HEAPS of good to SB in a beat divider, What I mean by a beat divider is 4 solid and 4 dotted lines running down the screen that land on where the beat lands, so players can see what beat or half-beat (or in between) that the note lands on

Just like this:

that run up and down the page (I hope you get what I mean by this, I can't show you any other way cause I suck at SB)

That would make the timing system easily a great heap more effective and probably more passable for BAT's

Just my three cents. Star and not 100% about KDst yet. Probably will anyway

The vertical placement of notes has nothing to do with the rhythm, but the pitch of whatever part was being mapped there, though there are a number of places where I ignored that and led the player down instead so the jump from top to bottom was not so hard. If you have specific places where it's far too hard, I can take a look at it, but there's a lot of places where I can't do anything better because the placement is too perfect, like at 01:06:833 (1,2,3,4,5) - on maniac.

I will admit I used lines in the background to map this from the video I had, but unfortunately Technika has no helper lines, so I'm not going to put them in.

Next map won't be placed on the grid though. I'm going to edit it so that the top is slightly to the right and the bottom is slightly to the left. The problem with doing that now is that I have to move all the storyboarded objects too, and it's too tedious to fix after they are all in. Adding the storyboard overlay was just as bad.

This isn't Techinka, this is Osu!

Without approach circles, one who is playing offbeat can hardly tell so, and yes, the Bar should help SOMEWHAT, but the speed the bar is going tells us nothing about the overall speed of the map, because you can space the notes just a little bit farther apart, and oh look, a new tempo.

If this should be Approved, guiding lines SHOULD be placed on the background, atop the video. You don't need Technika to have them for you to make them.

Otherwise, you'd need time after time of constant practice just to get down the speed of the map, before you can even worry about the notes.

My two cents.

Also, good reason for the "other map" only being approved. If they had come up with bar lines for timing help, it might have even been ranked, you never know.

The tempo never changes. It's always 180 BPM. If you're hitting late, you've got hitbursts telling you, the hitsound will be off, and I can honestly say I can use the approach bar better than approach circles to see when to hit.

Ok, time to get serious about this one.
I tried my best searching for possible mistakes in this awesome experiment (i even tried comparing original gameplay videos but i see some stuff that's impossible to implement so i guess you didn't go for 100% authenticity and i gave up comparing everything) aaaand there's only one little thing i found:

[Maniac]: 01:45:583 - the hold line is cutted. Very hard to notice in editor, easy to see while playing.

Other questions i wanted to ask (like KIAI) were answered by watching some gameplays, so i have nothing else to say about this.
I'm gonna ask around because i want to see this approved.

Yeah 2 notes at the same time, some huge jumps. Those things were omitted, or I took some liberties. It's best not to try for authenticity here, but for playability and obvious errors (like miu pointed out earlier).

But it's been so long that I don't remember. I've extended it out to fill in, the jump's now a bit harder at 2.5x.

blissful is supposed to be modding it at some point in time.

that's because hard has more difficult rhythms. Maniac is one long stream.
