Ahem,
Isn't dota2 already out? Why are they still playing league of legends or others of these dota clones?
If riot launches their own mmo, barely any world of warcraft player who has invested tons of time into WoW would shift into another game that just recently entered into the market.
Plus, most of league mobile just borrows materials from Tencent other mobile game.
sunk-cost fallacy or something
it's not a fallacy in this situation where it has effective scenarios. The idea of sunk-cost is not always considered a fallacy.
Citing from my comparison above with league and dota, when dota's largest community forum was shut down and league came up and after years later when dota2 released, league still remains heavily played. And then you see the same scenario when Blizzard entered the scene, they didn't enter much of the competition.
Csgo and valorant is something you can't really be certain for, considering that Riot does not publicly display playtime game stat unlike what SteamCharts does.
If riot attempts to compete with Minecraft, or maybe any other comporate to compete with minecraft, do you assume any of them to beat it?
The same case is with WoW which has been sitting at the throne for more than a decade.
