I would give a similar advice. Life is about much more than this game.MrStevie123 wrote:

All things have pros and cons, and on the internet, you can find many who hold strong emotions towards osu! as much as how much I love Cantonese food. However, if your friend truely hates osu! nobody but himself can change that no matter how many times you tell him "this game is not just about pp" or smth Ideas change with time, so wait for a bit and he might change his opinions.I would give a similar advice. And don't forget, it is (most likely) imposiible to find anyone in the world that have exactly the same interests as you do. If there are one or a few things (like playing the same instrument, love the same topics or games, listens to the same band etc.) it's already great.
If your friend cares about you and doesn't use you only when they need something, they are people worth knowing. Having people you can be silly with, or talk to are priceless imo.Now onto why he probably hates it (you prob didn't ask but I'll write it anyways)I would generalize it into two things he probably hate: the community, or the game itself.Community
The community has been notorious imo for the overwhelming weeabos. Weeb ≠ Anime enjoyers, however sometimes people mix them up. the stereotypical "weebs" in my head are people who have Rem body pillows probably, Have random Japanese they think are cool to say in their daily conversdation that no one really understands, claims to speak Japanese but only knows お前はもう死んでいる or 気持ちいい AND says stuff like "I totally want to live in Japan it's the best country in the world~~" not realizing the cruel reality of the Japanese society and (maybe) unaware of the beautiful cultures of their own.
This gives the impression that many osu! players are unrealistic children.
And the fact that some people care about ranking/pp/skill so much they stopped caring about other things like enjoying the game.
Also the trend of young gamers dominating the player base, as young adults are the leading market and consumers of games like osu!. (this is probably bs) This results in the huge player base of osu!, 20k-40k players online everyday, which consequently have a mixed quality of the players.Game Mechanics
I highly doubt the gameplay is what he dislikes: osu!standard being the special one, where few other rhythm games have the same style where you CLICK THE CIRCLES TO THE BEAT (self explanatory);
osu!catch I would like to call reverse touhou (since shift speeds up in ctb but is slow mode in touhou, and you collect the objects instead of dodging them like in touhou) (I never played ctb please don't flame me ;;);
osu!taiko, a game originating from Japan (as early as 2001 I believe);
osu!mania, a popular gamemode also used in many rhythm games (long before osu! was there like in BMS, stepmania, etc.), where keys fall from the top and you click at the right time interval.If your friend just doesn't dig osu! game mechanics, it's fine. Unless he purposefully come to you and give hate speeches about osu! hoping that you will have the same opinion as him. If your friend is like this (hopefully not) maybe it's time to reconsider life choices Just like how some people don't like Cantonese food although they probably missed the best 叉燒 they would every have in their lives.

I'd love to try my hand at Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan sometime. I'd get a good feeling for that one in no time (Although in the USA, it's called Elite Beat Angels. | 「おす!」で頑張りたい! タタカエ! Ouendan(オウンダン) アメリカでは「エリート・ビート・エンジェルズ」という名で、その1つに良い気持ちをもらいます。OsuWCF20 wrote:
No offense, but some Japanese people doesn't like osu! because almost people known the game from Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan and very very different original atmosphere to them. Even whole songs from Japan but not classic, its get disappointed because of electronic noisy things or some kind strange sounds. More ahead to pursue it, this kinds of music feel messing up of Japanese Traditional Music Cultures.
