Make osu!std in-game background dim utilize gamma correction like it does in osu!lazer. Background blur would be very welcomed too.
Actually I've thought about it since I tried playing HDHR for the first time. HD makes circles lose the brightness. I mean if I had totally white (like 255,255,255) circles without mods, with HD the peak circle color in terms of brightness is grayish (like 200,200,200). Playing HDHR with less than 100% background dim is harder and relies on the beatmap bg picture a lot. So I play 100%. And thus playing HDHR gives the eyes unnecessary strain.
Setting the background dim to 80-95% helps. But current dim works like changing opacity of the above layer filled with black color. It makes reading circles much worse. Combine it with the fact that entering kiai section makes your background flash a bit. And some mappers stack kiai sections on top of each other. So it can go from 90% dim to something that feels like 40-60%. This is frustrating. And very demotivating to play HDHR.
Also playing HDHR with night/reading mode is easier for the eyes but that's just silly.
Eventually I tried installing osu!lazer. HDHR was so easy to play with 80% dim, 20% blur and any skin. My eyes were the happiest eyes honestly.
