gotta love these oppressive governments RUINING our daily lives...
mid 2016: Blue Whale Game ("Blue Whale Challenge") first publicized. It quote, "a social network phenomenon dating from 2016 that is claimed to exist in several countries, despite no cases having been confirmed. The "game" reportedly consists of a series of tasks assigned to players by administrators over a 50-day period". So basically a game on some social media platform done through chat and actions
later 2016: Scattered reports of teens getting hurt, linked back to the Blue Whale Game. Final challenge was to commit suicide. Teens actually go for it and commit suicide. Holy shit if you ever seen the Movie Nerve, this that in a nutshell. To think this is actually a thing is some next level wtf shit.

mid 2017: A new game called "Mariam" is released. It's a horror game where you play as a character who is lost and asks various question to guide her home. The thing is that the questions can get quite personal, and the government fears that it can be a means of phishing.

Following this, I think UAE started fearing these social interaction games. People being able to swear and draw dicks in roblox was enough for them ban it.

I think UAE is over reacting, but the Blue Whales thing is certainly shocking. I prob missed something because it seems like a jump to suddenly block all social interaction games, but that's it in a nutshell.
