yea i'm working on it, i mostly put random notes past 04:00:201 - just to have the general idea of the streams on how i wanted them to look they arn't asesthetically pleasing just yet but it will be fixed soon.

yo a friend asked me to mod this so I'm just gonna give my quick thoughts

  • for timing: is ridiculously off basically everywhere in the map, the section of the map is basically completely untimed and needlessly complicated, the entire beginning should just be a 224 bpm point at 289-290 offset

    02:21:742 (1) - this part should just be 109 bpm until 02:39:363 (1) - here where it turns into 108, the other timing points, while helping the guitar riff 02:23:962 (1,2,1,2) - here are still roughly snapped to 109 bpm so it doesn't cause much of an issue taking these out anyways

    the buildup before the guitar solo 03:19:362 (1) - here is 218 bpm constant, so 03:21:584 (1) - this timing point isn't needed

    as for the guitar solo, 03:23:765 (1) - should just be 224 bpm, the solo isn't a sporadic bpm and 03:26:969 (1,1,1,1,1,1,1) - these are just roughly 1/6 snappings at 224 bpm lol

    basically all of this timing was taken just at a glance from an already-existing mapset of the same song from a well-known mapper, so take it as you will, but basically my point is the beginning and the solo are 100% off-timed and should be fixed; the 108-109 bpm section doesn't really matter too much imo, I think it's fine as it is personally but it's better to keep it simple rather than all over the place

    for tags: "7th seventh album" is unnecessary, no one is going to be arsed to search up "dragonforce seventh album" to find a song from the seventh album, also who the hell is going to know this song came from the seventh album unless you literally are the biggest fan of DragonForce known to mankind; tags like powermetal and speedmetal should be there for the genre, though

    as for the rest of the map, just glancing over it:
  1. 00:05:420 (7,8,1) - not really sure what you're trying to follow here, are you trying to follow guitar or drums? if the former then the slider should start on the white tick instead of where it is right now; if it's the latter then why ignore the downbeat? the rhythm you chose, while covering all the instruments the song is offering (for the most part) makes it really confusing to both play and just look at from a modding perspective, since you're basically emphasizing two different things in one pattern
  2. 00:07:686 (1,2,3) - rhythm choice here is heavily discouraged from a playability perspective, you should basically never have kicksliders on blue ticks unless it's a special rhythm (this isn't one), a standard 4 note stream filling these kicksliders does the job more than well enough, not to mention the spacing between 00:07:686 (1,2) - and 00:08:020 (3,4) - make the gap between 3 and 4 seem shorter than it actually is
  3. 00:13:153 (1) - this stream would be fine if you were following the drums before the stream started, but 00:12:086 (1,2,3,4,5) - this objectively follows the guitar; playability-wise this is fine, but rhythm consistency is really important and it would make a lot more sense to emphasize the guitar pitch changes here since it's the main instrument, which means 00:13:423 (5,5) - these two should be 4-streams with different spacing
  4. 00:15:582 (2) - vocals are the most potent instrument here so it'd make more sense to emphasize those over the drums in the background here, no?
  5. 00:19:332 (1) - this slowdown is pretty unnecessary imo, even then it'd probably be better to just have this be a 1/1 gap with circles so the emphasis on the downbeat isn't lost plus having the gap 00:19:332 (1,1) - here is really stupid considering the guitar is playing during that gap lol)
  6. 00:23:886 (1) - this is inconsistent with the rhythm that started this section to begin with 00:15:315 (1) - here

    yeah, you can basically see where I'm going with most of this mod, a lot of the rhythms you chose I disagree with mostly because they're so inconsistent in the same sections of the song that they should be consistent in; sometimes you follow the guitar, sometimes you follow the drums, there's no coherent rhythm choice throughout the map and that throws everything off
  7. 00:32:189 (6) - spacing should reduce here since the drums aren't as potent as they are before
  8. 00:33:529 (1) - why is this finish here?
  9. 00:35:672 (1,2,3,4) - this is 1/4 blue tick snapping, not 1/3, it's easy to get these mixed up though so I don't blame you
  10. 00:39:288 (6,7) - please don't change the rhythm of this in the middle of the pattern, this screws everything up so badly while playing, there's no difference in the drums in this entire section to warrant a rhythm change like this either; would be best to make this consistent
  11. 00:51:743 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11) - see above
  12. 00:53:886 (1) - this is the only slider that extends to the 1/4 blue tick, would be better to make it consistent and end on the red tick especially considering this is slider tick rate 2 so sliderbreaking on this is a real possibility if you misread it as a 1/2 slider
  13. 00:56:029 (1,2,3,4,5) - these are literally two different rhythms that express the same thing back-to-back, why? as I said before consistency is key to make a map enjoyable to play
  14. 00:58:172 (1) - to 01:00:047 (1) - this is literally just overmapping, you actually can't justify the usage of 1/4 in this, and even if you tried really hard to the inconsistencies of the rhythm (00:59:243 (1,2,3) - has a completely different rhythm than the start for no reason) make it pointless to anyways
  15. 01:05:672 (1,2,3,4) - this has no spacing compared to previous patterns and I'm not really sure why considering the jumps before it were pretty decently spaced
  16. 01:06:743 (1) - if you're going to do a long stream here, would make more sense to have this as a note on the white tick and start the stream on the red tick since that's where it actually starts
  17. 01:09:221 (6) - personal preference more than anything but PLEASE please please make your streams change direction every 5th or 9th note instead of doing this
  18. 01:19:868 (2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) - this has completely different rhythm than the entire kiai which makes this contrast heavily with this section for no real reason,
    would be better to be consistent
  19. 01:29:243 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12) - can you just not do this at all preferably because this plays horribly at anything higher than 175 bpm, there's a reason cut streams in songs like Cry Thunder are shaped like this and not with horizontal angles
  20. 01:30:047 (1) - important downbeat is basically ignored by putting this on a sliderend zz
  21. 01:34:332 (1) - red tick is really potent as a guitar hit here, which is what you seem to be following in this section, no real reason to leave it silenced lol
  22. 01:43:172 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - also overmapped since the guitar doesn't play 1/4 here at all (plus you didn't continue this rhythm for the exact same section 01:44:243 (1) - here)

  24. 01:57:100 (1,2,3,4) - you can do so much more with this rhythm than just repeat sliders, even the hitsounds give you a general idea of what the rhythm here could be, this just looks and plays bland
  25. 02:20:672 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - streams that collapse in on themselves especially during intense parts like this make no sense whatsoever and play terribly to boot, why not just make this like the other streams instead of having overlaps like this that make no sense?

    yeah you can basically just apply this entire mod to most of the map, really, almost all of these points are repeated constantly throughout the map
basically my main point is you're not required to map literally every single triple in the map, it becomes REALLY repetitive from a rhythm and playability standpoint because no one wants to play a map where you have a triple every 3 notes, that's why most ranked DragonForce maps don't use everything in the song given to them

for example this map, you can see during the slow parts of the map i.e. 01:29:412 (6) - here for example, where the vocals are more potent than the rest of the instruments, I neglect to map triples, while during sections like 02:22:643 (1) - this I map basically every triple since the drums and guitars are more emphasized than the vocals in this section (I still don't map triples sometimes in those sections though, 02:33:720 (1) - here for example)

it's not just exclusive to my map either, on this map 01:16:996 (1,2,3,4) - here where the triple at 01:17:296 (3,4) - is ignored for emphasis on the vocals, or practically any old DragonForce Lesjuh-style map like this (00:03:169 (3,1) - emphasis on the acoustic guitar, plus a lot of other emphasis on vocals during 01:37:069 (1,2,3,1,2) - basically the entire kiai section, obviously this isn't a modern map but you get the point) and this (05:07:233 (1,2,1,2,3,4) - constant 1/4 drum beat is ignored here in favor of vocals)

obviously you could just excuse it as "it's my style" and no one would bat an eye, but almost every map has differentiation in its rhythm to make it less boring to play and mod; not extreme differentiations mind you, but enough to make it so it's not the most repetitive thing on the planet, which is clearly something a lot of people have issues with in the map

basically my main point is you're not required to map literally every single triple in the map, it becomes REALLY repetitive from a rhythm and playability standpoint because no one wants to play a map where you have a triple every 3 notes, that's why most ranked DragonForce maps don't use everything in the song given to them i'm not changing how i mapped every triple, the entire gimmick of the map was to make an impossibly difficult dragonforce map that still played good. i get its super repetitive and monotone, but the entire song has pretty poor vocals to map because in this marc just sung super fast and in verses while your examples he sung in a harmonic way to the song

00:05:319 (7,8,1) - For those patterns i would increase the SV since it feels kinda awkward to play high spaced jumps into slow SV slider
-> you could also remove the sliders and add jumps if u wanna follow the drums c:

00:07:596 (1,2,3,4) - I'd advice u to make those symmetrical

00:29:560 (4) - avoid letting sliders end on strong beats it just feels awkward -> i wont point out every slider that applies to this just look over urself

00:38:801 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,1) - that pattern looks kinda random

01:18:444 (1,2,3,4,5) - why use a slider here when u did not for the same patterns before?

01:20:051 (6,7,8,9) - try keeping visual spacing to make those patterns more appealing

01:43:087 (1,2,3,4) - ^ same as above

01:57:016 (1,2,3,4) - you could map this better in another way cause theres alot going on with the drums reverse slider seem boring to me

02:41:496 (1,2,1,2) - why stack those? applies to the following aswell idk those are different drum sounds i just dont get why u would stack those :D
