I don't know when I actually learned that anime was a thing. But when I was younger I read Naruto and discovered by a friend that Naruto had an anime as well, so I watched it.

Um... I was extremely young and my mom enjoyed all of the Hayao Miyazaki movies and we would watch them as a family.
When I realized anime wasn't "fully" accepted, my mom bought me manga in the name of "to get this kid to actually read and enjoy reading". For a while, I snubbed the haters comments and continued to enjoy myself in the world of anime and manga. Now there's no escape...

While I was ~4 I tried watching Pokemon since I liked it, but my brother always turned the tv off and I didn't know what anime really was. Later I found out, when I was around 10, that you could watch it with internet and what it really was. And I still watch it now.

I was forced to watch TV when i used to be in elementary school because my parents both worked fulltime, and then it started with Animes like Digimon and Card Captor Sakura, and today, Card Captor Sakura is still one of my favorites ♥ Then i didn't watch it for years but when I woke up, i remembered it and rewatched everything and now i'm totally addicted to animes and mangas :D

I've been introduced to anime since i was a kid, when doraemon still shows up on the tv xD

but how do i discover anime? I got curious by One-Punch Man and ask my otaku friend about it, he then let me streaming a few episode in his house, and i watched the rest episode in my home. and...................here i am, a shut-in who likes watching anime and reading manga :lol:

I grew up with the Fire Emblem game series since my uncle is a collector of those games, and I watched the OVA anime based on the first game. After that, I ventured off to shows like Princess Tutu and Baccano, and I wound up where I am today, constantly adding to my list of animes to watch.

My cousin introduce me to Naruto when i was like 9 or 10, liked it enough to watch it through, after i catched up with manga i read untill the last chapter and then i found out it was still ongoing at that point. Was really tired of waiting for the next one so i found Bleach, then One Piece, then FMA, Death Note...

Started watching in 2011. Watched some about 150 TVs. Every year I watched less and less titles until I completely stopped.
I think I got tired of seeing such love and such friendship that will never happen to be irl. Also the anime girls' cuteness makes me sick by now - every time I remember the real girls, which I don't even want to talk about. Bleakness of the real world is unbearable - but the world of anime only intensifies the despair I feel. Anime is a very fragile shelter for people who couldn't find a place under the sun.

In the past when I was a kid, I would watch some anime with my mother. I never really understood it from how young I was, but I still enjoyed it. Then years later, at the end of middle school (around June 2014), I was looking for songs to listen to. I came across a cool looking AMV, and I really liked the song. I knew it was anime from my past experiences, so i decided to try and find that anime to watch. After watching Black Rock Shooter, it became my first anime when I decided to really get into watching, and enjoying anime.

A few years before my best friend found out that she was going to move to Japan because her dad was going to do his PhD there, she began to research and learn Japanese and all those stuffs, and kinda dragged me along with it. At first I only love Japanese culture and language, but then we discovered anime and it was a sad anime (can't remember what it's called) so I kinda got emotionally attached to it :')

I was too innocent before i discovered anime. I was just scrolling through Facebook and found a lewd anime scene, I was curious so i did some research and started watching that anime xD. And after than happen more and more lewd anime stuff appear on my Facebook. Curiosity probably helped me discover anime :v

When I was 5, my friend happened to have the entire Inuyasha anime series and we would watch even with our parents around
they didn't really care tho :ooo

as a kid my father actually always watched dragonball with me and my brother. thus we started watching more anime on local tv as kids. a few years without anime went by and suddenly my brother started watching this new show, naruto. i thought it was a ga* kids show and didn't bother much but since my brother always urged me to, one day i gave it another chance. since i'm posting in this forum, you can probably imagine the rest of the story

I heard a friend talking about some tipe of 'Titans being killed by soldiers' and I was like WTF, then he told me that it was anime, and the anime that he was talking about was 'Shingeki no Kyojin' or 'Attack on Titan'. While I was dealing with depression, I would watch Youtube a lot. I found a recommended video on YouTube that was a funny moments for some anime called Trinity Seven and after watching it I decided to watch the whole anime because it looked funny. After watching it I looked on MyAnimeList and found different recommended ones that were like Trinity Seven. That's when I got into anime.

I was exposed to anime before I even knew it was anime: Pokemon, Digimon, SonicX

It was in my first year of highschool I started noticing that there is a specific style of animation that is much different from western cartoons. But I didn't know what to call that style, so it was hard to find. Enter my second year of highschool, and my sister comes to me with a recommendation from her friend to watch Fullmetal Alchemist. The rest is history.

Used to watch Pokemon on TV, I can't really say this is where it started though, I didn't even know it was anime.


About 3 years ago a friend of mine told me about Sword Art Online. I watched it and instantly fell in love. I was a little let down on pretty much everything after the events of Sword Art Online in the story, but I love this show for introducing me into a world which I will never forget.

I used to watch Dragonball and Shaman King on a TV channel I found when I was like... 7? maybe 8?

I was always a huge pokémon fan growing up and would wake up at 6 every Saturday to catch the new episode. Then I got a friend that was hooked on DBZ, pretty weeb dude, but cool nonetheless.
We played around with various storymaking and eventually we watched some anime. Done deal, weeb ever since

So I started to play this game called "osu" pretty weeb game and I found a song that I really like after further investigation I found out if was from a show called "Z/X something" aaaand I watched it. thats basically how I found out about anime (childhood animes don't count btw) after that my life was ruined but I have 2d waifus now so I call it worth btw the show was pretty shitty lmao

When you're Asian, you grow up with it, watching stuff like Doraemon, Crayola Shin-chan, and the like. It just kind of happened after I saw my sister watch Shugo Chara! and a few years later, I discovered To Love Ru and I got hooked on anime afterwards.

My brothers were watching Parasyte one day on TV back in 2016ish & I just happened to pass by right when there was an epic fight scene, so I asked them what show it was and the rest is history. XD

When I was little I used to go to West Virginia to visit my great grandparents and my cousin used to live with them and his room was full of anime and manga. Every time I visited them I would go straight to his room and read the Shonen Jump magazines. When he left to live on his own he left the Shonen Jump magazines (and a few hentai mangas on accident). I decided to take them home and they are with me to this day. Except the hentai, those were confiscated :(

I heard about it from my group of friends, they always keep talking about one piece or bleach, they would recognize masks or some stupid stuff and I kinda felt left out.
So I asked one of them if he could recommend me a few beginner anime, not some heavy stuff and long like one piece or other long anime.
Technically Death Note was the first anime I watched fully, but the one that actually got me into watching anime daily was Elfen Lied, which I watched like half a year later after Death Note.
Then I proceeded to watching more triple A titles like Shingeki no Kyojin, Clannad, Swort Art Online, etc..
Up to this day, which has been like 2.6 years, I managed to watch about 150 anime series. Im a little over the half in One Piece and I finished Bleach long time ago. :)
As I started watching more and more anime, I started to develop my own taste which is basically Romance + comedy or action + comedy.
