My life story...
I've loved singing ever since I was little, but I've never gotten any lessons. I always auditioned for the school musicals in elementary, I remember singing "Copacabana" for one of them haha. I never got any big parts though. I continued with performing arts in grade 7 and 8, landing a role with a solo in the grade 8 musical "Honk! jr." It was so much fun! I did choral in grade 9, and I loved the class, but I felt like my singing really wasn't very good at that point. I had auditioned for the musical, and there were only a few other guys that did too, and I got this tiny useless part with barely any lines. I know I really shouldn't have felt bad, but I did...

Anyways, in Grade 10 I dropped choral because it became Triple Threat. I can't dance for my life, and it was a full year course, so I decided against it. I started taking drama and I love it so much. I had the highest mark in drama last year <3 But yeah, I always thought my singing wasn't good enough because I never got any large roles in the musicals. I guess I assumed it was my singing because I got the lead for drama last year.

Sorry that was so long.

tl;dr My only background in singing is my performing arts classes in school. I can't play any instruments.

I agree with KoromoAmae, Powerdrone is very excellent at singing and a possible final round competitor.

I know I'm not very good at singing. I've noticed that I lack control in my singing. Pronunciation and notes are
messy and all over the place. If I manage to control my singing more I might have a chance too...maybe.

(Also, I finally found my song~ I won't say what it is...but just know I'm preparing to practice the song a bit first)

I'll step back, sorry.

Main reason is that my microphone is not working properly and (by example) everytime I hold a note it seems that my voice fades away when I'm actually trying to sing louder. Well, that and much more microphone shit. I tried to get another one but failed, so yeah, sorry.

I wish I had more free time to practice more...I just went with a decent recording which I saved in case I couldn't practice enough of what I originally planned.

I wouldn't let a terrible microphone deter me from recording. My submission for this round sounds awful. About half of that is due to the state I need to be in to actually use a gritty voice, but the other half is the ridiculously bad headset I have.

The whole point is to have fun, so don't let bad equipment hold you back. Just enjoy singing the song and send it in.

I use my laptop mic and my quality isn't very good either... it sounds really messed up whenever I sing really loud notes (but some of you probably already know that xD)

Yeh umm. If I live to the next round, I'll see if I can't hang around in the office till 8pm or so, so I can sing full voice. Because these quiet ones really aren't working...

Same issue I'm running into; mostly singing too quietly so it's hard to hold a note without wavering. :o

Judging done. Powerdrone, Neo@lex, Jarby, MetalMario201 and Mashley sadly have to leave this round.

For this round, the voting was the same as in osu!Idol 1 as to make things more balanced. Well, that was a failed try.
Also, the results are kinda hilarious. I think by now we should accept that this contest just isn't meant to be taken seriously. =p

EDIT: waitaminute MB and Neo@lex have the same amount of points. Uh. Alright, since it wouldn't be fair to throw out another person after it was officially announced that that person would get to go on, I'll give both of them one more chance.

EDIT2: Oh, and yeah, Ephemeral is too sick to judge.

I am also surprised I did decent... I was kinda hyper when I sung the song and wasn't sure if I did a good job... I only realized after I was a bit slow on the main part 687-5309 and I was worried I was going to be eliminated. :D

I still don't see how I did better than Haneii and some other people... :?

I'm liking some of these entries though a lot (especially Lanttu she sounds great)! And yeah, the judging is still kinda all over the place xD

Woot, passed even with a 2 and a 3 vote (somehow).
Kinda wish there was commentary behind the votes, but I'm sure they'll be there for the later rounds.

Ya, agree, I really think you performed well this time, and imo, doesn't warrant the low scores... Maybe yours was too loud ?

I'd also like to know how the hell I got to the next round with a terrible submission like that.

But I shouldn't be this negative. I'm kinda lucky I made it to the next round even with exams going on. Well, I'll be waiting for the next theme and hope to do better than all the submissions so far.

electronica? BT, armin van buuren, frankmusik, hell any type of music which places its emphasis on the 'electronic' sounds (phase vocoding, sample stuttering, flangers etc)

Finding a song in an electronic music genre should be really, really easy:

Click through some of them. I recommend looking at Synthpop, Eurobeat, and Happy Hardcore (jun loves that one).

I think most of the issue is judging bias for song obfustication, though at this point everyones voices can probably be easily picked out anyway.

I am having a lot of trouble finding a song...

I don't know many 'electronic songs' unless the genre is really as broad as I think, and a lot of the ones I DO know have little/no words (stupid house music!). :(

I will keep looking and try to have something in by Friday... :|

That does help and those are good song/artist suggestions... it's just I have never heard of any of them before and I don't know if I can sing them either...

A lot of them sound pretty interesting though, thanks animask and Ephemeral for helping me discover new music :D

Exactly that. Larto thought everyone had lost interest because almost no one was submitting entries. When I told him that many contestants didn't know what an electronic music genre was... It wasn't pretty He went, "Oh. Okay."

EDIT: And synthpop like Owl City and LaRoux aren't that hard to sing, are they?

Electronic is such a fucking huge category, the excuse "I couldn't find a song" is COMPLETELY unnaceptable.

Also, if a song isn't in your key, just change the fucking pitch in audacity. <333

Well, maybe there's also that reason that I mainly like sing songs I'm already familiar with. I don't like to search up a completely new song, specially not from such a fucking huge category, then try to memorize it somehow and do some fail singing-wannabe-entry after that. I'm sorry don't hate me. ;_;

But yeah.

Honestly, I would really love to see this competition to be continued... Please don't cancel and give up on the competition Larto... So, guys, we need to be more motivating ! go go go !

I practically checked this thread twice per day (once after I back from university, and once before bed). I am really looking forward to this competition, even though I dont' sing very well. It's also fun listening to other people singing and recording. Cause for the record, among all my friends, I am the only weird one who has this hobby of "recording songs". It's kinda nice seeing other people shares the same interest as me. xD
