GUYS!!!!!

I've been searching for a fix for a long time now, but, I found something that has helped me!

Razer synapse is the cause for me.
It does something to the OSU startup compatibility or something.
So if you have it, just uninstall ( i know it could be annoying not to have DPI stuff, but OSU works :D)

So I hope this helps XD

Tested new wrapper version (2.6.1), it works fine. The only thing I noticed is that while playing osu on El Capitan gpu temperature is 10-15 degrees higher (~75C vs ~60C) than on Yosemite, regardless of wine version or engine. (MacBookPro10,1 gpu idle at 40C)

It doesn't work in my Mac :/

Cannot run in El Capitan,Says X11 cannot be opened, then I updated the wrapper and wine engine, this time it shows an invisible application error in the Dock:( Wat should I do ?

Hello, since the Yosemite update Osu has been capped to 60FPS and the cursor is like laggy. However, sometimes, at the start of Osu, it does start at 120FPS which is the value I chosed, but after like 20 seconds, it goes back to 60FPS with the "laggy" cursor. I'm pretty sure the problem is from Yosemite because it's since this update that I got the problem, for info I'm playing on a Macbook pro 15" Retina from late 2013 with Intel Iris Pro Graphics

Have any of you experienced the same problem?

Thanks
Same thing on mine. When I updated to Yosemite, Osu just capped to 60fps all of a sudden. I'm not really sure if Apple is even aware of this issue. I just hope it can be fixed by a client update or something. Maybe a wrapper update? Well, I tried to update mine but it just gives an error and tells me to just do a manual update. I really don't want to mess with anything cuz things might get chaotic.

Sometimes if I'm lucky it does go back to 120fps. But most of the time it's capped.

Thanks for the new mac version.

It is great and I have been waiting for it for years.

My problem is that, it seems not support any Chinese, Japanese or Korean characters.

As a Chinese user, reading kanji is much more easier than speeling romaji hiragana.

So is there any options for me or I have to wait for the next version?

A bit late but...

You have to disable GDIplus in wineskin to see the characters. However, you have to give up some features like the playlist and some other visual things in the game. (Doesn't really affect gameplay tho)

Note the missing icons in the player and options menu.

Note the Outlines around buttons and the boxes. First menu looks better and has more functions than without GDIPlus tho.

I have installed it on 10.9.5, and it will run once after the computer is restarted.

After that, it will only display a blank panel that says, "oh no!"

There is no way to run it until the laptop is restarted again.

Please help.
monkaGreg
hmm, peppy said that fallback wasn't supported anymore, so i guess our only hope is for a new mac client or for someone to make a wrapper for Cutting Edge?

Try running it with a different Wine wrapper or Engine. WS9Wine1.7.24D3DBoost works for me.

the problem maybe that the X11 service had been canceled since the Yosemite ( os x 10.8), so you need to download XQuartzhttp://www.xquartz.org instead if your system is higher.

My mac says that osu (downloaded here) will harm the computer and should be sent to the bin, because the developer hasn't been verified. how can i fix this?

It surely helps as i found this out after a long time
I know your post about disabling v-synch and so on via your (at least your posted program)
Buit it was always strange and unusable, having also some artifacts on the screen... and so on

Luckily i found this command at some el captain forums (works btw for both 10.10 and 10.11)
- you will need xquartz already installed!
______________________
Open Terminal:
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.owserver Compositor -dict deferredUpdates 0
sudo killall Finder

For enabling it (it will disable some part of the implemented v-synch) but not all so the system and graphics aren't unstable ... so giving you a FPS boost and holding your fps at 120 ... and not like beyond some time (some times 70 some times 110 and so on ~ wich maked mania playing pretty impossible)

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.owserver Compositor -dict deferredUpdates 1
sudo killall Finder
- Is for reenabling all functions

~ you must NOT reboot , it will be applied automatically after restarting Finder :)
__________________________________________________________________
PS:
Sry but i left osu a long time ago, just because of this annoying unstable wine "releases" and about 6 months of trying to get this freaking port stable >_>
~ so i'm changing to Malody!
But this should help all OS X Gamers, because it works also on other games, and gives you a overall FPS boost and stability

And also when I download it it close right away or it just take to long, it says there is problem with the X11

So it works for me... but the problem is whenever I'm mapping, there's no toolbar. All it shows is the Apple icon, then "Wine" then "Window". No "File", "Open", etc

There is a way with the new alpha release, however it's unplayable for me. The input lag is unbearable, fullscreen isn't working properly, you get a tremendous lag spike on the first few seconds of every beatmap and framerate is locked to vsync, which is a horror for osu! Unless it gets fixed soon I'm taking a break and waiting patiently for the native version.

Yay, finally osx users have decent osu client.

Screenshot:

Try using wrapper from my fork:
https://github.com/vsnrain/osu-wine

In short:
- Use MacDriver to get less lag but scaled resolution.
- Use staging-1.9.9 engine
- Use Stable40/Beta40/CuttingEdge release streams as they have required fixes.

Getting stuck on this after update and it doesnt run.
I wrote about it in my GH readme. Means that osu updater installed Stable distribution. It is built for dotnet4.0+ (4.5?) but wrapper has only 4.0 installed, and missing important patches. Open osu.config and change release stream for Stable40. Then get compatible osu executable (try this one from stable40, you can use it whenever you need to invoke updater with broken setup http://www.mediafire.com/download/1anmo ... osu%21.exe) and run it, it should download correct distribution. If then it runs but you can only hear sound with black screen, remove some files like osu!ui.dll, osu!gameplay.dll and hope that on the next launch updater will rebuild osu correctly.

unrelated, please don't read
SPOILER
In my stupid opinion, osu updater is a horrible horrible mess. It has mind of it's own and does not give a f about what do you want to do. Either it is badly designed and horribly broken, or made intentional to just piss people off. It would be good to turn off updater/fallback mechanism completely or at least make it do what it is supposed to do - install latest version from release stream configured in osu!.cfg, not decide on itself what's better and automatically change osu!.cfg accordingly. But what do I know.

I was going to try it, but I am busy on this week, so I'll do it later. Dotnet45 support in wine is not very good, so I expect same issues that were before (like broken tabs, etc.). And dotnet45 osu builds does not have patches for osx/x11 so I don't see much point in using dotnet45 wrapper now.

It's work on OSX 10.11 ? Because when I launch Osu! :

An error occurred while starting the X11 server: "Failed to activate core devices."
Click Quit to quit X11. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple.

Help! I'm sorta new on the OS X release but for some reason Chinese / Korean / Japanese fonts show up as boxes!
I've 'run' the cjkfonts in the Winetrick under Wineskin Advanced in the Wineskin.app of the Osu! application, but nothing changed.
What is the problem and how can I fix it?

I tried to install cjkfonts through Winetricks by opening the Wineskin app in Osu!.app, but every time I launch Winetrick it crashes. Other than that, the Osu! application runs just fine but Asian fonts are still boxes.

I am running cutting edge version on mac with good results, here is how:

get osu wrapper from here:
https://github.com/vsnrain/osu-wine

get and install xquartz:
https://www.xquartz.org/

osu cutting edge executable:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/54714869/osu%21.exe

optional: wineskin staging engine STG 1.9.12
http://portingteam.com/topic/10055-wine ... e__st__300

Install xquartz and place osu!.exe inside wrapper to folder osu!/
Use wineskin.app inside wrapper to change executable to file we placed inside.

now try to change wrapper settings as following:
screenshots

Using this setup game is running smoothly. However when i try to update osu to Stable it crashes and wont start, perhaps "Stable" is not 4.0 ? Will try update it to beta if it runs.
Also wrapper has option to enable CSMT function inside Tools -> Config Utility to make use of staging, not sure how it works but maybe osu will run better/worse when enabled ? For me its causing visual artefacts and decreased fps and lags.
Sorry, but i am noob when it comes to mac stuff.

Can you explain this in simpler terms? I am confused what things like place osu!.exe inside wrapper to folder osu!/ means.

Thank you for your time.

probably best working wrapper is vsnrain's which was cloned from peppy's github depository and modified, wish i knew what fixes been made there.
sad thing is that regedit and winetricks doesn't work on that wrapper.
i havent been getting results with vsnrains wrapper, i've been using the one you posted 11 days ago and its been working fine
MicroGintama
Generally, the latest OSX build is incredibly smooth and responses swiftly towards my input.

I think one of the probable needs for improvement is the way to click out of the application, a.k.a Wine + Osu itself. Generally, command+tab can cause quite a few problems such as a black screen, and just a loss of audio.

Otherwise, I'm quite happy with the new release!

IIRC there was a comment on somewhere that said that lazer should be compatible with Mac natively, should solve most of our problems. Also hope that it will be out soon.

Side note:
Swapping from Wine Engine 1.7.24D3DBoost (600+ FPS) -> 1.9.15 with only 120-180 FPS was actually a better idea than I originally thought. Although lower FPS, I don't have as many random lack of key hitting responses. Latency ended up a bit lower too. However, am only using ¼ cores for 1.9.15 for some reason.

On stable-fallback though.

Alrighty... Here I am on this official thread thingy...

I haven't been able to run osu! due to admin restrictions (I have a school-issued laptop). Last year, I was able to run osu! by going into the MacOS folder and dragdropping the WineskinLauncher and WineskinX11 exec. files into Terminal and running them that way. For some reason, that was able to bypass the block or something, because it worked every time. This also worked with any other exec. file. That's how I run puush and Colloquy (my IRC client).

This year, though, it doesn't work. I've never really looked at what I was doing when I dragdropped, but I noticed that if I dragdrop only the WineskinLauncher into Terminal, it will show me this: After showing me this, it closes itself and I am left with the default "- bash" window running.

The same exact thing happens when I dragdrop only WineskinX11! It closes itself and leaves me with the default "- bash" window.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

There's something else that's super 4p00ky... If I run Wineskin, (by dragdropping the Wineskin exec. file from the MacOS folder, of course) then open a new Terminal window and dragdrop WineskinLauncher, (from the osu! MacOS folder) I get THIS message from the WineskinLauncher window:
4p00ky 4cr33n4h0t4 ;w;

It shows me that, sits for about 10 seconds, then opens osu! (actually labelled "Wine") and gives me THIS!

This only happens when Wineskin is running. If Wineskin isn't running, it will just do the regular routine (pictured in the first box).

WineskinX11 closes itself as well.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

So I suppose what I'm getting at... How the hell did I run this last night?
No but seriously... When I'm dragdropping all these files, what's really going ion? Why do the processes close themselves? Why doesn't it allow me to run the files? I can run anything else by dragdropping the exec. file from the MacOS folder, so why doesn't it work with osu!/Wine?

What do "WineskinLauncher" and "WineskinX11" actually mean? What are they supposed to do? etc. etc. etc.

Thank you for any information you can give me. I want to be able to play on my Mac again.

My school has ≈150mb/s internet and I want to spam maps with my osu!direct :(
