So it works for me... but the problem is whenever I'm mapping, there's no toolbar. All it shows is the Apple icon, then "Wine" then "Window". No "File", "Open", etc
There is a way with the new alpha release, however it's unplayable for me. The input lag is unbearable, fullscreen isn't working properly, you get a tremendous lag spike on the first few seconds of every beatmap and framerate is locked to vsync, which is a horror for osu! Unless it gets fixed soon I'm taking a break and waiting patiently for the native version.- Kurk - wrote:
Is there a way to get stable latest on a mac yet? Trying to get score v2 on it
yup, at this point the alpha release is unplayable, hope they can find a way around itAgrrox wrote:
tried it and xquartz seems to cause a lot of delay which makes it unplayable

I wrote about it in my GH readme. Means that osu updater installed Stable distribution. It is built for dotnet4.0+ (4.5?) but wrapper has only 4.0 installed, and missing important patches. Open osu.config and change release stream for Stable40. Then get compatible osu executable (try this one from stable40, you can use it whenever you need to invoke updater with broken setup http://www.mediafire.com/download/1anmo ... osu%21.exe) and run it, it should download correct distribution. If then it runs but you can only hear sound with black screen, remove some files like osu!ui.dll, osu!gameplay.dll and hope that on the next launch updater will rebuild osu correctly.Agrrox wrote:

Getting stuck on this after update and it doesnt run.
I'm not completely sure now, but for previous experiments msxml3, gdiplus, and maybe directx was enough.Agrrox wrote:
i will try to make one. do you know what are required dependencies and libraries for osu to install on wine?
im confused on what to do with the contents of the "osu-wine-master" folder still.vsnrain wrote:

Try using wrapper from my fork:
https://github.com/vsnrain/osu-wine
In short:
- Use MacDriver to get less lag but scaled resolution.
- Use staging-1.9.9 engine
- Use Stable40/Beta40/CuttingEdge release streams as they have required fixes.

I tried to install cjkfonts through Winetricks by opening the Wineskin app in Osu!.app, but every time I launch Winetrick it crashes. Other than that, the Osu! application runs just fine but Asian fonts are still boxes.Agrrox wrote:

I am running cutting edge version on mac with good results, here is how:Sorry, but i am noob when it comes to mac stuff.
get osu wrapper from here:
https://github.com/vsnrain/osu-wine
get and install xquartz:
https://www.xquartz.org/
osu cutting edge executable:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/54714869/osu%21.exe
optional: wineskin staging engine STG 1.9.12
http://portingteam.com/topic/10055-wine ... e__st__300
Install xquartz and place osu!.exe inside wrapper to folder osu!/
Use wineskin.app inside wrapper to change executable to file we placed inside.
now try to change wrapper settings as following:
screenshots
Using this setup game is running smoothly. However when i try to update osu to Stable it crashes and wont start, perhaps "Stable" is not 4.0 ? Will try update it to beta if it runs.
Also wrapper has option to enable CSMT function inside Tools -> Config Utility to make use of staging, not sure how it works but maybe osu will run better/worse when enabled ? For me its causing visual artefacts and decreased fps and lags.
i havent been getting results with vsnrains wrapper, i've been using the one you posted 11 days ago and its been working fineAgrrox wrote:
my build is crashing, dont know why...
probably best working wrapper is vsnrain's which was cloned from peppy's github depository and modified, wish i knew what fixes been made there.
sad thing is that regedit and winetricks doesn't work on that wrapper.
I downloaded this and left osu! minimized for about 3 minutes (adding in my skins) and it gave my mac a kernel panic :/Agrrox wrote:

It was an application that I installed which was for some reason making me have unplayable frames. I just made a new login and installed osu and I get 240 fps againAgrrox wrote:
you better limit your fps to avoid frame drop spikes on low end machines especially when on wine. 120 or 240 is fine...

Click in the top left corner above the compose tab and then click create a new difficulty. For some reason the buttons above compose, design, timing and song setup are hidden, but they do still work.-CPR- wrote:

IIRC there was a comment on somewhere that said that lazer should be compatible with Mac natively, should solve most of our problems. Also hope that it will be out soon.Agrrox wrote:

This build works, but its dropping frames inconsistently but sometimes it runs smoothly. Which is frustrating because everytime i was about to FC a song, the game losses frames and input lag etc .Unlike the 1.9.14 Build which was very smooth but glitches a lot (the texture went "weird"(i dont know how to explain it))Agrrox wrote:

After months of not finding time to fix the remaining problems with the OS X build of osu!, I have decided to make it public in its current state. You may have issues importing songs, but this can usually be fixed by mashing escape or alt-f4.
Please note this is a test release (beta if you like) and there are known bugs. That said, feel free to share your experiences in this thread and try and help each other out until the bugs are ironed out.
http://m1.ppy.sh/osu!.20141010.dmg
http://m2.ppy.sh/osu!.20141010.dmg
Compatible with OS X 10.6~10.9.x
Things to know:Adding Beatmaps:
- The first time you run osu!, it may take up to 5 minutes to start. This is due to X11 (the graphical subsystem) rebuilding a font cache.
- This build will always start the updater when you run it. It will update to newer releases and therefore when the remaining issues are fixed you will automatically receive the fixes.
- Importing songs may get stuck. If this happens, try alt-f4 or esc mashing, or quit osu! and run it again.
- To see the osu! folder, right-click on osu!.app and choose "Show Package Contents" then navigate to Contents/Resources/winePrefix/drive_c/osu/
- Apparently you can load new songs by dragging the .osz file to the osu! icon.
Open the package:
Navigate to the songs folder:
Drag your osz files inside:
Run osu! and goto song selection (or hit F5 if you are already there).
Note that you can make a shortcut to the songs folder on your desktop by dragging the folder while holding command and option. This should make it easier to load new maps for now!
Maybe it's just my laptop being underpowered but it doesn't seem to launch on Sierra. I'm using 1.9.14 and it's working just fine (Mid-2012 MacBook Pro)Agrrox wrote:

My personal experience with 1.9.X engines is that they are unstable and osu is constantly crashing while scrolling songs in song select screen.
Engines 1.9.16 and higher were not even able to launch osu for some reason.
I gave 2.0 staging engine a try and it works just fine.
Please share your results. You can copy your osu data from old osu wrapper to this new after first launch. if you don't know how, you can use guide on my profile.
