Apprently once someone changes names, the old one IS grabbable.
Example: http://osu.ppy.sh/u/gladiool (Gladi before)
And now theres: http://osu.ppy.sh/u/gladi as of yesterday.
Just pointing it out.

For the time being the old username will be obtainable by others. If you are worried about this being a problem, then don't change your username yet. I may look at the possibility of reserving the old one at some point. I think most people who want to change their names won't be that attached to the old name (they shouldn't be if they are changing it) so apart from obvious impersonation attempts (which can be dealt with on an individual basis) I don't see there being too much harm the way it is.

You should probably make the currently not-huge parts of that sentence also large, currently it interrupts the flow too much. Maybe have the sentence go from big to bigger to biggestpeppy wrote:

For pendings, you can use your edit to change the creator without doing a full download again.CDFA wrote:

He changed it because the name change system was intended to be used for things like Beuchi-chan becoming Beuchi, and stuff like that. Therefore, he kicked some ass and rolled back names that didn't follow this original intention.DataCirno wrote:
Well were those usernames listed above/below that got their username changed back requested by the user or did you just decide to change it for no reason?
At least I could still recognize you. Most people went too far in a random directionarien666 wrote:

I was away from August 1st til August 10th, this feature was introduced one day after my departure, I've been asking for it a while ago, and now it's gone again? Are you kidding me?
I joined osu! more than a year ago because someone showed it to me, but I didn't think about my username very long because I didn't play it that much and thought I'd never write something anyway.
But after about half a year I downloaded it again and now I love it, but I also hate my old username, it's stupid.
Please, give me and maybe others a chance!I promise I won't regret changing my name and I won't ask to change it back. PLEEEAAASE!

Actually I was able to change to this name even though the former user logged on recently, he didn't have any plays though.FurukawaPan wrote:
The peppy-quote above are conditions for someone *else* to essentially take over some inactive user's name. They must have not played the game significantly (less than 100 plays requirement), and must not have logged in for nearly 2 years.

Dude, wait it out for bit, see how things go. You don't get a tattoo with your girlfriends name on it a week after you start dating. You never know if this relationship's going to last, in a month you could be sick of her and all up in some other touhou chick.lothos wrote:

can I change my name to whatever I want, then?peppy wrote:
And yet some people still don't get it.
The next well-known player to change their name to an unrecognizable one will force me to rollback all similar cases and block further name changes for these users.
