While all gameplay elements of osu! are and will remain free, a special set of bonuses is offered to those who are willing to make a small contribution to keep osu! running smoothly. The funds raised from this will be used to subsidise server and other costs in an attempt to make osu! sustainable on its own, as well as sponsoring prizes for competitions and taking osu! even further. All donations are used to fund the development and hosting of osu!.

Benefits offered may increase over time, but are currently limited to:

osu!direct (in-game beatmap search engine)
Automatic downloading when multiplaying, spectating or clicking chat links.
Increased beatmap submission limit (up to 8 beatmaps).
The ability to filter the website beatmap listing by played and unplayed maps.
Special text colour in in-game chat.
More lenient bandwidth restrictions in tough times.

Making a donation will instantly update your account status -- it should be done within seconds of confirmation. Simply restart your osu! account (restart osu!) and you should see a "direct" icon on the main menu, signifying your donation has gone through correctly. You will also receive an email!

Please note that you are not paying for extra features. You are donating and any extras that come as a result are not considered to have a monetary value. If the world explodes, I am not going to give you a refund because you can't play osu! (but really, I think if that happens you have more important things to worry about).

Thanks in advance for any support you can give! As I already sink most of my time into improving osu!, it is a slight relief to not have to cover costs myself!
