I mean, if he wanted to attention whore he could have simply made a top 10 based on pp video where he could guarantee he didn't get outvoted and post it to reddit.

Considering that he has only recently made a huge climb in the rankings there is actually a fair chance that people vote for more established less active mouse players instead (ex. BD placing mouseasy so high and momiji placing Mizuki so high).

I mean, if you really want to create a bunch of drama over this, my popcorn maker is itching for some use.

What a joke. Smoothie World has never made one of these videos, and as soon as he get a bunch of ranks he decides to make a "Winter 2016" Top 10 Mouse Player. And you decide to call someone out who sees this correlation. If you can't see the coincidences then you are blind.

No shit pp =/= skill, but pp is a loose representation of skill and what does a loose representation of skill do? It brings popularity to a person because realistically, most people only care about/pay attention to good scores (usually scores valued high in pp) and base it as their first impression of the player.

The term I used, "drastic improvement", was directly referring to sw's rise in rank over the past few months (more specifically the past week). This is why I bothered to question the "spurious correlations".

You're looking at this situation with values in true skill ( I like that ) but you're missing the point that I am trying to make. Like what poncho said about the correlations why would sw bother making a Winter 2016 poll instead of best mouse players of 2015? A winter 2016 poll would center the focus on sw's recent scores.

Those are the reasons why I brought this up and at first it was just an innocent question with no intentions of starting shit and to be honest, no one would've questioned about it except for me because no one wants to be that guy that acts differently among the crowd.

Your ass decided to be the one to call me out for my doubts on the timing of this poll while including unnecessary sarcastic remarks. Maybe you're the drama queen here so shut the fuck up.

It's like people who are on facebook that say "I'm not racist, but.... <insert racist remark here>"

If anything, you could have just pm'd Smoothie World and explained there.

Plus, I can make the same accusation that you made on Smoothie by saying "You only care because Smoothie just passed you and you're not gonna get the rank on this you want." or "You only care because you're a mouse player.". Which are just two drama starting statements that would fit better in a private message.

Some people don't want to hide their opinions and when someone is blatantly doing something for attention people will share their opinions. And this isn't just between Ritz and Smoothie World.

Also, you seem to have been unnecessarily aggressive and "awfully agitated" yourself when you decided to start something from what Ritzeh said (which, by the way was not in an aggressive tone at all). Why are you pointing out his "awfully agitated" response like he should be acting all civil and nice to you when out of nowhere you decide to be sarcastic and attack him? You calling Ritzeh a drama queen off the bat when he just asked for Smoothie World's reasons for creating this poll is honestly a bit ridiculous considering his message wasn't agitative (again, the tone wasn't and he also clarified that in his post). Please think before you write on the internet.

Anyways, the idea that Smoothie World wanted to make this poll to get an idea for where the community ranks the mouse players is fine, but it probably would have been wiser for him to not make it given he showed some impressive scores recently. For the third party, the idea that he did it for attention to his recent scores is honestly a viable one regardless of whether it was the intention or not. (Again, not saying that it is the case or that the poll should cease to exist or anything like that)

I've seen various standard players go out of their way to post in content related to mania here, so I feel it necessary to intervene here as a mania player on the outside looking in:

What is the point about getting so riled up about this? Those of you who think that Smoothie World doesn't deserve the attention can simply opt out of giving him any sort of votes. Those of you that do can continue to support him. At the end of the day, he is the one taking the time to go out of his way and compile this video; by posting a thread like this, he is committing himself to actually doing the work to make this compilation, even under the potential chance that he doesn't end up on it in the first place. I'm not a regular standard player, but there has definitely been an incredible increase in overall skill by mouse players, and I think this compilation can bring that attention somewhere that it's really deserved.

Additionally, there is nothing wrong with being prideful with your overall ability in something. At the level that the players in this group are in, they all have things to be proud of.

I mean, for fuck's sake - he's even talked about not even including himself in the video at all:
