Little backstory:
This has been bothering me for a while now.
Osu! doesn't have a score cap but Osu!Mania does.
This only limits you (Literally), so why is this even a thing?
I've been trying to think of a good reason why this feature should exists and i can't think of one.
Which is why i'm making this post:

Combos are an essential part of the game.
But it's nearly pointless in Osu!Mania.
For example: The map "Team Grimoire - C18H27NO3(extend)" (4740 Notes).
Guy number 1 achieved 992,326 points with no misses and a combo of 4728.
Guy number 2 achieved 992,203 points with 1 miss and a combo of 2958.
I think we can all agree that this is a bit stupid.
Because of the score cap combos are basically nothing.
So why not just remove the score cap to add another layer of depth to the score system?
Removing the score cap will give these benefits:
-Combos will matter.
-Ladders won't be as close as they are now (Rank 1-20 are basically the same score on most maps).
-More points=More fun. ;)
-Mods can have score multipliers like in Osu!.

It shouldn't be that difficult to get this done either.
It's a simple matter of calculating the new scores based on replays (How many 300's they got/combo count etc.).
Osu! doesn't have a score cap, so why should Osu!Mania have it?

mania games have a much higher focus on accuracy than osu! standard does. Most of them use the same system (maximum score obtained by getting the highest judgement possible on each note).

There are also significantly more hitobjects to deal with in mania (for the most part). This is one of the reasons why combo based scoring would not be a good idea.

The example that you have used is a very good example of how accuracy based scoring works. Getting more 300g or MAX's (the maximum judgement in osu!mania) than regular 300s, is a very big factor in score and what players consider to be accuracy. The game does not change accuracy based on players ratio of 300g to 300 but the players themselves know that having more 300g means that they were more accurate. This includes beating scores of those who have lower ratios but higher combos or lower ratios but less 200s etc.

Another problem is that it can be very easy to cheese combo maps on osu!mania with playing harder patterns in a certain way. You could get 50's (lowest judgement besides a miss) throughout an entire section of a map but still beat people in score if the system were to use combo based scoring.

Also, the closer scores on leaderboards makes it significantly easier to compare players on their scores and accuracy on a map.

That's actually a good point. I never thought about that.
Thanks for taking your time to reply. ;)

I don't think it's reasonable to ask for a complete overhaul of a certain gamemode
Even smaller things got rejected because of this
