Being able to see a users reputation before trying to get a mod off of them would be a very helpful feature. Especially when doing M4Ms. Me, a number of my friends and I'm sure a lot of other users, have had the misfortune of doing M4Ms with people who give; troll mods, low quality mods or flat out don't mod back at all and just ignore your messages even after like 5 months.

I'm not sure what the best way of implementing this would be. I was thinking something like having two buttons on a users profile page where other users can either say if they're "helpful" or "unhelpful". Depending on how people rate the user, a little sentence would appear on their profile page and on any posts they make on the modding queues: "This user has a very good reputation" or if the user is a dick "This user has terrible reputation, think twice before asking for a mod".

Idk, seems like it would be easy to abuse / descend into a "popularity contest" where people would get their friends to bump up their rating or downvote people they didn't like for (potentially) unrelated reasons.

I find that simply reviewing a user's recent kudosu history usually gives you a pretty good idea of what kind of mod you can expect, how frequently they work, what type of songs/maps/etc. they usually work with and so on.

Nothing keeps you from making your own research before agreeing on a M4M.
It would also be subject of abuse so I don't think this would help your issue in any regard.

Hmm
People can just make blacklists in their queues, but an all together blacklist in this case might be better
I have had this happen to me a few times
I can see it happen, but I also understand what ^ and ^^ said

The fear is more than justified. But I'm not saying to rank the users like with kudosu and pp. Users are rated either helpful or unhelpful as the community sees fit. Maybe 3 more categories on the scale for clarity sake like idk "very helpful", "very unhelpful", "fair" (bad examples). And reviewing a user's kudosu history wouldn't be the best indicator of whether their reputation is good or not as it only shows the mods the user has done. The user could be really picky and just do M4Ms he feels like and ignore one's he doesn't.

Again their kudosu history isn't the best indicator for their reputation and I'm not going to go around spending my time asking people if a user fucked them over or not. As for it getting abused, Again the fear's justified, and I do think it would get abused but not to the extend you're thinking of. Nobody's going to deliberately give themselves a reputation they're not capable of handling. A better reputation would attract more people to you who are looking for mods. I doubt many people want to be spammed with that kind of shit.

Why not?
Just click on the latest 3 mods of the person and see how thoroughly the person modded and how well the person explained.

Like just because they're a good modder/mapper doesn't mean they're not a dick.
