One pen i think

Edit: forgot to give a reason
I + XI = X this is the actual, you need to move the one pen of XI to the left, IX means 9, so I + IX = X
If is the correct answer this is the map http://osu.ppy.sh/s/236697
ac8129464363
one pen

move the vertical pen on the plus to make it minus, then put it next to the X to make

I - XI = - X

which is correct :p

if I'm right: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/267699
Adol Christin
one pen.
move the I after the first X to the right hand side of the second X. Then it's: I+X=XI (1+10=11)

Edit: Can I have a ticket rather than a mod for now?
Monstrata
Damn. I know the real answer, but i have no new maps atm. This is a really fun queue btw xD.
ac8129464363
lol tricky wording, let me see if this is right

you need to move two pens.

there's a couple of pens lying around, so you put them both at the end of the equation to make

I + XI = XII

Yes, it's even fun for me, monstrata.

By the way, I hoped that the wording is not too tricky.. The other person has made the equation by using the pens that there were lying around, there aren't any others left.

Random Guess:
The first person choose the first injection because he believe that it's better than the second one and think that it will make him always perfect
So, he take syringe 1 without asking. His accuracy became worse after 8 weeks probably because of the side effect.

The second person choose the second injection because he asked which is better for him.
He remained accurate because the syringe is perfect for him

Really cool answers so far, but none was correct.

One answer war actually really close, so I will give one mod to the one who made it...

First let's discard any magical stuff like "omg u took medicine being a bad person so medicine doesn't help u".

Frist off, being vaccines is already kinda confusing because they're often used to prevent ilness rather than curing them... but I am probably a bit old with my medicine knowledge so lets continue.

Vaccines contain the virus which is causing the ilness, but weakened so the inmune system can make an appropiate response when the real thing comes. Normaly drugs often need to be prepared, mixing them with others the moment the injection will occur. If person A took a syringe without asking, the vaccine was most likely not well prepared or it may have needed another ingredient in order to work properly. It's very likely syringe 1 had a stronger virus, but at the same time not weakened (because of the incorrect preparation): therefore it would make sense that after some time, person A falls ill again. If person B took the proper treatment, it's obvious for they not to become ill again because the drug was properly prepared.

But the 8 weeks thing is kinda intriguing: is there a special reason why it's 8 weeks? I've trying for a while to come up with something to explain the numbers, because I'm pretty sure they're not random.

Well that's my guess. Here's my (standard) map, if you can't mod it, then don't worry, I just wanted to post my theory :P (I have another which I may post later)

Very close, you are going into the right direction. You simply miss out on some information. And yeah, it's actually used to prevent illnesses, correct. Should have been more specific.

However, you will still get a mod!
Adol Christin
I guess syringe 1 is originally has this bad issue (effective in 8 month only). Therefore person 1 (person A) is supposed to become worse.
edit: 8 weeks...... ;)

8 weeks I guess ~

Heya, I'll just have a guess.

When the players are infected, it does not mean that they are immediately suffering from the disease/showing the symptoms of low accuracy.
I suspect these symptoms show up after 8 weeks if a player has not taken the correct vaccination because it takes time for the antibodies vs low accuracy disease to build up.
From this player 2 has built up antibodies vs the disease when it would actually make them ill while player one does not have the antibodies and will start to suffer when the disease actually shows an effect 8 weeks later.
So because person two is not suffering, their accuracy stays the same as it was while the accuracy for player one gets worse.

Edit: Almost overlooked this: as vaccinations are a mild form of the disease, a vaccination will first make someone just a little bit ill. This way both players can "get healthy again" in the time interval between receiving the vaccination and the antibodies building up properly in time for player two before the actual disease would take effect and make player one ill and reduce his accuracy.

I know I'm trying my luck with Shiena Nishizawa - FUBUKI (it's an anime ending and I know you don't like those), but I hope you'll have a short look anyway or just testplay and tell me whether it was fun. It's taiko as well, so I hope my chances are a bit higher with that ^^

Thanks a bunch ^^

In case I understood you correctly, you have come the closest to solving the puzzle. I will give the mod and the star to you.

To clarify what actually happens:

One of the vaccinations is a passive one, the other one is active.

An active vaccination happens like this: Mild, almost dead individuals of the disease are injected into one's body. The body generates antibodies to kill those disease-causing cells. Now, the body has become immune. Person B has chosen the active vaccination and developed no further disease.

A passive vaccination is technically an active vaccination used on another body to gain antibodies which are then extracted and injected into the patient. They protect immediately, but the antibodies are not renewable. That's why that person will not be immune. Person A had no idea on this being the case and simply grabbed the passive vaccination. He/she became healthy, but not immune. Guess Person B simply was lucky.

So.. People that won a mod:

Oops I forgot a reason.
because BC are years counting down to the 0 and AD is numbers counting up, so Don Don would be in BC because he grew 5 years older in 5 years later in BC.
Lol I cant explain well

You may not ask for a ticket now. Only answer when you have a beatmap ready to be modded.

30 minutes. I guess. :) haha.

because from here "If there are no branches on the trailway" so It may mean that Peppington has several branches(Donton, Ruruki Town and Katberg). Also for the other stations. The Fact that this is supported by you don't need 30 minutes to get from Peppington to Katberg. ;)

If I'm right(don't know) :D , Here's my map: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/290401

~ The Puzzle ~

It takes 15 minutes to travel from Peppington, the first Station of four on a trailway, to Donton. You need 5 minutes to get from Donton to Ruruki Town and 10 minutes to get to Katberg, coming from Ruruki Town. However, you don't need 30 minutes to get from Peppington to Katberg! If there are no branches on the trailway and the trails are straight, how long would it take to get from Peppington to Katberg by train?
Ok if i draw that trailway there are 2 solutions:
-If Ruruki Town is between Peppington and Donton, then it takes 20 minutes from Peppington to Katberg.
Else
-if Ruruki Town is not between Peppington and Donton, then it takes 10 minutes from Peppington to Katberg (this time Katberg is between Peppington and Donton). Another solution would be 0, which means Katberg is Peppington but i assume it's not possible.
I can show this with a paint draw or idk if you want but then it could help the others if i am right, so as you want'

In case i guessed correctly, here is the map i need some help on : https://osu.ppy.sh/s/296842

The egg
Why can't Dinosaurs have eggs?
Everybody forget about the other animals whic have eggs
Poor old (extinct) animals
And if Dinosaurs haven't laid eggs, then there are more animals which lay eggs, it's like the chicken is the first one, right? RIGHT???

AsakuraNe
The egg because many many millenia ago. There was chicken-like bird that was called a proto-chicken. :3 Then the mother chicken laid an egg and the father chicken fertilized it. The genes of both were combined but in a different way, they created a mutation that accidentally made the baby different from its parents. So in short, two birds that weren’t really chickens created a chicken egg. :P

You guys are amazing.

My intentional solution was that the egg came first, simply because I specified which should have come first, but didn't specify which animal has laid the egg. I am very sure that there were birds before chicken and they have also most likely laid eggs.

This would mean that baraatje123 is correct.

monstrata expected some weird trick coming into my mind due to several previous puzzle's meanings I have presented.
giantzarz would be right if I specified the egg as a chicken egg. Close enough.
AsakuraNe explained themself really nicely and made it very clear how I meant to express my solution.
-Kanzaki didn't really solve it himself. But I have seen this video before and based my solution on it.

Therefore, all mentioned users will receive a mod, congrats.

Reminder: I am not the quickest, be patient please.

goddamnit, the answer HAD to be the chicking 'coming' first, thus producing the egg..why was I late ;A;

Hi~ Just hoping that this is the right answer lol

Dondons: Wouldn't there be none? Since likes there's
a Dondon
emphasis on a but I dunno, they could be asexually reproducing organisms (this could be the case considering that the Dondon lifespan only is 3 days, maybe hinting that there is lack of gene flow (is there even more populations of Dondons though? Or is it that this certain population is geologically isolated to the point where it was no longer called the other population due to both species being unable to sexually reproduce with each other, since the post also says "new" species). Thus, making it reasonable for no mutations such as a longer lifespan or something like that to occur, since the puzzle implies that "they" as a species all die within three days of being born (in this case it's really more likely that they are going to die from one disease if anything .3.)), in that case then I'm wrong lol.

If it was right this is my map: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/315529
Topic Starter
Zetera
Absolutely correct. They are not self-reproducing, thus a single Dondon cannot do anything but die lonely. There will be none of them here after 20 days.
