@Sakura - I agree with your thoughts on Drezi. One for one in day one seems outright stupid. Though maybe you two are scum and then since you dissolved the idea, people won't think you're scum in case Drezi died and flipped scum. Idk, I'm being paranoid too

Mine and SNB's vote are definitely RVS so he's null just like everyone else.

If I recall correctly, Drezi was parroting on Medical Mafia and just waited for someone to vote the other at the end for easy scum win.

I know yours is, there is literally nothing that can be extracted from your post since it was the very first post.
SNB, while probably nitpicky one could say "Why Ace, why not continue and wagon Drezi for reactions".
And from there you can still deploying a pletora of reasons to start interrogating people and figuring out what they're thinking and discussion starts and RVS ends.
I usually dont put much into account into the early posts, other than "why X instead of Y", but while Drezi's post was amuzing and suspicious, my current pet peeve is why Zexion decided to not question it, heck he even calls me and Drezi a scumteam... then follows it with a "maybe", uncommital, easy to flee if things dont go his way, and not actually trying to read people.

Because the total opposite is still a posibility: The same way you're analyizing his "reads" two posts after the game started, its the same way he just made them up as a silly excuse for RVS. I did care about putting two people in his "town reads", but then again, why would he put me in the "scum" list?

Also reason two pretty much sums it up. It didn't make sense to overthink that list. The part where I confused you was for a silly joke about the number six, and it was definitely a mistake from my part... I don't know which else to say.

Of course it doesn't prevent you, but I would expect more votes in order to make asosiations. When you're missing half the pieces is pretty hard to complete the puzzle, isn't it? My idea there wasn't obviously "You can't think until everyone has posted" but rather "I would like to see how each one interacts before getting my reads".

Because I wouldn't know how to make that assumption this early in the game? You surely don't believe I can make that claim seriously only because two people are voting for me?

My thoughts exactly.
I don't know about SNB. I searched his past game and I found Medical Mafia. The first was an RV on Sonatora and SNB voted him too though there were others before his vote so I can't really refer to that. I'm just going to say his vote here is really just an RV.

While yeah, im missing most of the picture, if i consider your current posts scummy im going to dig deeper into your thoughts, to try to either solidify that scumread or to see if im wrong and you're actually town, you don't seem to be helping much in that regard. There's something wrong in your thought process. You say you dont have a clear scumread on me, and you're voting me out of entirely RVS reasons. That is valid but... are you just going to sit there looking at the sky with your vote parked until every single person decides to do something Non-RVS-like? Like... you don't even seem to try to sort me out, you ask questions that seem like they might be trying to sort what im dong, yet you're drawing no conclusion from them.

Yeah, i know you probably wouldn't know how to make that assumption in the game, but the way you're drawing the conclusion comes from no more than an OMGUS. "Mommy, mommy they are voting me they must be bad people!", i would assume if you're voting me, for RVS or otherwise you intend to interact with me, and strengthen or cancel your scumread, but i still DONT see you doing anything of the sort with any of the things you're asking me. You haven't even tried to figure out a scum motivation for what i'm doing, you're just sitting there doing nothing while im here, and around, and open to answer questions and interact. You don't seem to be interested in actually sorting people, just because some people are missing doesn't mean you can't interact with someone and find their alignment.

Disclaimer: However that's more over my playstyle since i get reads from interaction much more than just reading what people do, while is a starting point, i usually get stronger reads from interaction, and while this is my playstyle, it may not be something you're used to, but i still see you... doing... NOTHING, with the questions you're asking.

I was just explaining how you can generate discussion even from the 2nd post. Of course not many like to do wagons from RVS, while i think they are a good way to get reactions, others may disagree. This is a newbie game and i'm trying to teach while also playing the game.

Basically i see Zexion so far as being... Reactive, even from his RVS post, to him calling the possible scumteam, to his replies to me, which some include questions with barely any follow up or conclusion.

Of course, i do admit that without everyone else here, it's only goint to stay a null-scum read and seeing how he plays with other people interacting with him, but i feel very comfortable with leaving my vote there for the time being.

Isn't that exactly the same vote you made after I voted you? I hardly find that my vote and post sucks so much since you did pretty much the same. Also why the heck are you so worried about having a vote on yourself, afraid we may wagon and lynch you in 5 minutes? Or you must mantain a clean obvtown status with no suspicion around you?

Sure, if you want me to talk and do something about the game then have a look at Navizel: all his posts have been "yeah I agree with Sakura in this and this" and you're not saying anything about that. (Save the part when he looked for Sonatora's and Drezi earlyplay, but that was because I mentioned Medical Mafia)

SNB I can't seriously read anything with a single post.

Drezi made up that list. I see no reason for me being on scum and you and SNB being town, heck, I would have believed it more if it was Navizel and SNB because those two posted before him. You being on his "town-reads" leads me to believe it was pure randomness.

BTW, I concede and agree I should leave this passive play and make my own moves.

Yes, I made an OMGUS vote, then you turned around and OMGUS'd Drezi too, with again as mentioned before an uncommital read. Your vote doesnt scare me, i'm just wondering why the fuck you're doing nothing with it, because my view of a town person would be trying to decipher is if im town or not, not just sit there and do nothing and hope the world falls on me.

Since you bring up Navizel, one thing i've noticed is that he's... playing differently from what I remember, Instead of resorting to one-liners he seems to be actually trying to express his thoughts. This is entirely different from what I remember from either alignment of Navizel and im just thinking it might be an improvement in playstyle.
The "Yeah I agree" comes backed up, so i didnt pay it much mind, do you disagree? if so why?.

The SNB thing was just an example of how you can generate discussion even from the 2nd post of the thread u.u

It's still kinda early to call something like that parroting, besides he directly quoted my post and said that it was his thoughts exactly, parroting is different, unless you think you shouldn't agree with what other player says?
Parroting is when you contribute nothing to the thread other than what's already been said by someone else, but in this case, do you think there was something else he could've contributed to it? OH SUPRISE! he did, he talked about Jess, so no, it's not parroting, he agrees with my stance re-you.

If it's an irrelevant line, in addition to your assesment of Navi's "parroting" what does that tell you about his alignment?

1) Why did you think it was relevant to say that Jess was posting in forum games, but not here? Do you think she's purposefully dodging the thread when the day only started a few hours ago?
2) If you agree with my stance re-zexion what do you think of his later posting and his explanation of his uncommital scumteam post? We've been discussing for a while, if you agree with me, you certainly have something to comment in everything that's been said, yet you didn't say anything.

Calling for Jess just means I want her to post and contribute something to the game. I didn't call on everyone else because I checked their history and they weren't online when the game started. However, Jess was.

OH WHAT A GREAT CONTRIBUTION TO THE IDEA. I can see a big way to contribute with this: by voting. But yet he didn't. The other lines are about the earlyplays I commented before.

The other contribution to the idea he'd agreed on was pretty meh. Stating the obvious and seriously, how could I have /confirmed/ a scumteam by just two people voting me? (But we talked about this)

I don't expect magic. I expect conversation, reactions and overall contributing to the game.

I think we all can agree lurking is more like a scum-tell. But Navizel simply stated something a player should do. As I said before, its a game irrelevant line: he could have done the same without saying it.

I think it's when there weren't any posts that I decided to check everyone's post history and see if there are people who were online but didn't post anything to this thread. Then I saw her posted something in forum games. I didn't really see her online the exact time she posted. So basically I called her during the game and after she posted something.

- She's scum avoiding the thread <- Very unlikely imo, what motivation would there be for a scum to avoid the thread at this point, besides any newb scum would've beetlejuiced by now.

Hmmm... That's the same quick conclusion I got from the list. But I guess that's the reason Drezi didn't include him in his "town reads". You didn't say anything about me yet so there was no way to agree on something.

That's also possible, if you look at her post history, she was actively posting at 10 hours ago, which is also when she confirmed, then just made a short post saying aru~ in a random forum game, and she's no longer online. So it's quite likely she didn't want to bother or didn't even check the mafia forum. Forgot about that.

Oh yeah, i was arguing with Zexion back then so it slipped my mind, you see, this is a 2 scum game, and you sacrificing yourself just to get 1 mislynch wouldnt add up putting up your partner against a whole playerlist. Besides i'd like to think that you and me are probs the most experienced here, so the most experienced scum with whoever you'd be, would be quite a loss and would probably spend doom.
Secondary reason i thought Zexion was scum at the time and i didnt think you were busing him (which would defeat the purpose of a sacrificial scum to get a mislynch).

tl;dr: I'd understand if scum-you would be a hindrance for the team, to try and do that, but i think that any possible partner in this playerlist you'd have, you'd probably be the mastermind, so it'd be a too risky situation for the scum team for you to sacrifice yourself for a single mislynch, ergo, that post wasn't trying to buddy me or tie me up with you.

Yeah but this is the part I don't get, I didn't misread it, I simply understand the hypothetical case you mention this way: "Oh look Drezi turned out to be scum, and he put Sakura as town, let's lynch Sakura" -> "Why? Because scum put her as town! Why does it mean she's scum then? Because scum wanted us to think she's town! Wait she isn't? No scum wanted us to think the other scum is town!"

And this just doesn't seem feasible as I said in my last post, or why else do you think town would decide to lynch you if I flipped scum after putting you as town?

You could still vote someone. Even though I'm trying to steer away from it we're still in Random Voting Stage, you can just vote someone because you don't like their name or something silly to get things going. You can just change your vote later anyway.

Scum tactics/bussing gone wrong. I don't think a single read list, especially an RVS jokelist, would be enough to prove anything, though.

Sure if we say Navi's fencesitting, semi-silent agreeing to Sakura's posts and the paranoiac post pointing out the Drezi/Sakura scumteam (which was in fact a really bad post since it could feed confusion and the possibility to a mislynch) are scummy, sure, he's questionable and worth keeping an eye on. Can't see a pure scum move of any kind there. I'm still eager to see more material, though. Sorry for underestimating the RVS content, guess I'm learning new things game by game.

Huh. How did you know I am town. I would understand if it says "if you are town" but you said when. And then there's your vote one me which you say that I am scum. It's very contradictory.
Jumping on a wagon might seem beneficial for town because the one who started it is experienced but imo it's more beneficial to scum especially when your reasoning is just a "newbie action." I believe just hopping on a wagon is a newbie scum action, especially with a reasoning like that. Your reasoning for voting me is very weak and might only make town lose.

On that Wiki you can also find a lot about Mafia theory and ways to play. I learned a lot by reading it and playing but still have much to go.

Why did you decide to try mafia? What got your attention about this game?

Also about the "scumslip"... that doesn't seem like definitve proof. As a non-native english speaker, that sentence would have made perfect sense in my language. I don't know anything about german but it may have had sense on that language too... I'll give it the benefit of doubt and just say it was bad-worded, but it still bothers me.

In German, "If you are a scum" means "Wenn du ein Scum(Abschaum) bist". Translating "Wenn" to "When" is a common mistake (even though it's a bit embarrassing for me to make such a mistake). This might sound like a bad excusion therefor, but that's how it happened.

But as this isn't really convincingly, I will just let that stay like it is.


I still think it's strange how Navizel stood in the background, despite others suspecting him, but as soon as I suspect him, he starts to accuse me of being scum.

First, thanks for the nice welcoming. I already took a quick look at the wiki, but I am definitly reading a lot more there after you suggestion.

Yesterday, when I was browsing through the Osu-Forums, I found the Mafia section. After reading some in it, I noticed that it reminded me of a game my "religious education" - teacher used to play with us for one or two times, named "Die Werwölfe von Düsterwald" which is also about some people being werewolf and knowing each other and being able to kill the villagers in the night while these vote for a execution on days end.

That's what made me really interested in trying this out. And even though I seem to be terrible and I barely know how to contribute to the discussion, it's a lot of fun for me.

I can read, I have two eyes, and what it seemed like, to me at least" was a bunch of pointless bickering. It's not like I can disregard it though. You guys ended it on your own terms. Me, however? I have just started to read the thread and will not take things like that lightly, especially if I see walls and walls of text in the beginning of D1.

It is helpful for me so I can keep note of what I am doing and so everyone will know my opinion. You mentioned this earlier on in the game, correct? You mentioned that it would be nice to get the opinion of everyone before being too hasty.

Well.. werewolf is very similar to mafia. I think the only difference is the name of the roles.

I can read, I have two eyes, and what it seemed like, to me at least" was a bunch of pointless bickering. It's not like I can disregard it though. You guys ended it on your own terms. Me, however? I have just started to read the thread and will not take things like that lightly, especially if I see walls and walls of text in the beginning of D1.

It is helpful for me so I can keep note of what I am doing and so everyone will know my opinion. You mentioned this earlier on in the game, correct? You mentioned that it would be nice to get the opinion of everyone before being too hasty.

If you're not going to take what me and Sakura posted lightly and don't agree with our conclussions, how about you post what you don't agree with instead of looking for an excuse to say something like "hey, I'm doing something to find scum, but I won't tell you!".

Where am I being hasty? Hastly would be voting for any of the newcomers without talking properly with them. I merely stated that in your post you didn't come with new points to work with, just pointed the obvious and proved you didn't read properly the first pages.

Yeah but this is the part I don't get, I didn't misread it, I simply understand the hypothetical case you mention this way: "Oh look Drezi turned out to be scum, and he put Sakura as town, let's lynch Sakura" -> "Why? Because scum put her as town! Why does it mean she's scum then? Because scum wanted us to think she's town! Wait she isn't? No scum wanted us to think the other scum is town!"

And this just doesn't seem feasible as I said in my last post, or why else do you think town would decide to lynch you if I flipped scum after putting you as town?
I guess it might be paranoia, but you're right that there's not much to go off and think something like that, it's related to stuff i can't talk about atm, so it'll have to wait.

From the latest pages i saw how people were talking about Slaini's scumslip, yet no one voted him, the only person that actually did vote him was Hika, which means to me that at least hika's actions match her words, so for now i'll put Hika on the leaning town pile. Slaini's explained himself that it wasn't a scumslip but rather a mistake in english typing, not sure how legit it is, but i dont think he'd lie about it, since anyone can just confirm it, specially if they have friends that know german.

Navizel's deflecting suspicion onto the first thing he could latch onto and needs to be lynched with fire.

Oh yeah, i was also wondering about SNB not voitng anyone but deciding to not vote Slaini.

You see, at this point there's very low information and people >usually< vote the first thing that pings them (at least that's how i was raised in mafia), so i have a hard time understanding people that are conservative about their votes, and i saw you reply to something like this saying that you want to scumhunt first, so here's my question, if you're scumhunting, why, aren't you using your vote which is our weapon, to actually scumhunt, put pressure onto someone, etc, and get reactions.

I'm mostly asking because i know there are people whose playstyles are like that... not voting until they find their biggest scumread, etc. But see, that also escapes possible Vote Count Analysis (Also known as VCA), because they just kept themselves most of the game without voting... or at least most of D1, and from personal experience there'll be at least one player that as scum likes to hide among the non voters, since they are harder to analyse.

What are your current top 3 scumreads?
Are you townreading anyone?

As for slaini I don't think it was a scumslip, on the other hand the way he pointed at the "heh." from Navi specifically as a reason for voting, I find it a bit weird.

Not exactly a personality/playstyle thing, just me letting him know that he fucked up by giving me the reaction I was looking for, however, it is invalid because he is right about me reading incorrectly in the dialog between him and Sakura. You didn't imply it, I stated it myself. Also, sure there is plenty of material to read and discuss, but from more specifically, Navizel and SNB, not exactly anyone else atm. So it's not plenty in the sense that everyone is involved.

It's just you said something about considering the whole town's opinion before getting too hasty. That is something that I don't agree with here because that can either mean that you're not understanding the whole point of RVS (in a serious sense) or you're taking things lightly yourself. I mean it's okay, you don't have to mind it, but I won't discuss this anymore here because according to you, if it has been settled, it doesn't need to come back up.

I'm just gonna assume it was pointless. But that one line touches me the wrong way.

Read above, I meant generally being too hasty. You're not doing anything wrong. However, I don't have to share or to come in with new points if I feel that it is a wrong time. I want to see more people post here in a serious sense too. I am not voting based on RVS concluding this post, however.

You did not scumslip, that is why I was confused. I just meant sLaiNi's scumslip as in the way he/she worded in the quote about knowing someone was scum. There's not much to analyze that because he/she caught out their own mistake. It was also a mistake on my part for not realizing they are German and I could understand the language barrier. Need me to elaborate more here or what?

One of my main pet peeves with Zexion early on was that he seemed like he wanted to test the waters before fully commiting somewhere, which is something scum like to do, although after discussing with him i found his explanation plausible and figured i might have been wrong.

What do you think of Navizel?
