I still remember the days when things like Nami top weren't competitive and were considered trolling or fun. Nowadays, it's standard... it doesn't feel fun picking unconventional champs anymore, as it's expected of you.

I used to main Ali mid, haven't lost a single game with him there, out of a bit over hundred. I loved how people back then thought I was trolling, but I ended up carrying the match, and found some seriously good friends from exactly those "troll picks".
Nowadays, shit like Blitz mid or Annie support are as frequent as other picks, which pretty much ruined it for me.

I guess that's just the natural progress of every game.

Yup, it's definitely common, and we have the professional players to thank. People love to copy from streams and tournaments.

I still remember my first Blitz and Mao mid games... fun times.
Thing with those two was that even if you somehow lost mid, you still had tonnes of utility for your team, so you were always useful. Oh, and DFG Mao was insanely OP..... the original DFG, not the nerfed shit. :p

I just played a game against an AP Leona mid and we lost. This is what trues shame feels like

So this new report card thing is out on NA for banned players.
They're banning people who have never been chat restricted before, and you can get a 2 week ban for acting up in just one game. It makes this a little interesting.

The goal is to deny the opponent top as much farm as possible early on and punish them if they try to last hit. Of course you aren't going to deal much when they start buying tank items (early sorcs shoes help a lot here), but until then you should be ahead anyway.

The most potent counters to Cass top are high mobility champs who usually sports high damage as well (so basically Riven, and most assassins), as well as long range champs (Jayce comes to mind, and a lot of mages but there aren't many top so yeah).
I meant when I all in. I don't really play Cass top though so normally I wouldn't build that much mana. I don't usually go RoA if I go tear and instead because of having no burst (having 8000 mana is nice though) and I get blue sometimes too

Unlike 95% of the LoL players, I don't aim to be Challenger by the end of the season, and I gave up on trying to be "good" long ago. I'm playing to have fun, and I cannot, for the life of me, understand people who actually get annoyed over the game.

The last match I played yesterday, I was top as Vlad against Cho, raped him to 3-0, had over a 100 more farm than him, roamed to bot (tp) and helped them out a few times, and what does our mid do in the meantime? He feeds their jungler, Rengar, 18 kills. The guy had bloody 407 AD before the 25 minute mark. I absolutely ate the top lane, supported bot as much as I could, but not even the gods could win that game. It was simply lost, as it took 3 of my teammates to kill him, let alone win a 5v5. I ended up with the most damage done and the most farm in the match, but who cares, I had fun.

Just like I had a game where Annie was mid against our Katarina and she had 29 kills by the end (I was like, apart from Warwick with his ultimate, the only one who could do anything 'cause I was playing as Sion and she had hella burst 'cause she was fed), and Kha'zix had 20 kills, and what did our Ashe get? 7/21/8. And she flamed me and Warwick constantly, even going as far as to say she knew everything about the game, from start to finish. EUNE has the best community. /s

Oh right, that's why I transferred to EUW. Back in s2, people claimed EUW was much, much better community-wise than EUNE, so I gave it a shot.

Turns out both are cancerous as fuck, but at least EUNE had friendlier and less cocky people. I miss the people I've left behind there. =(

Considering I've played for 5 seasons now, excluding a rather long break, I think I have the "toxicity problem" under control even without any friends. Yes, playing with friends is going to yield a much better result and a greatly increased factor of enjoyment, but you can deal with a toxic community even without them - granted, you need nerves of steel for the utter stupidity of most people you encounter.

Also, you've stated that ARAM gradually destroys your skills. I beg to differ - it doesn't completely erase them, it just makes it awkward for you to start at level 1, instead of level 3, and skews your perception of when you should go all-in and when not. Apart from that, it teaches you to pay attention to what your team does at EVERY given moment, how to sustain yourself better (as you don't get to recall in ARAM), and most importantly, it teaches you to not take the game too seriously.
The last one is the reason I play it instead of normals nowadays. I have unimaginably good nerves and I'm a couple of thousand leagues away in terms of optimism than most people, but even that is not enough, as people who take the game like they're going to Auschwitz after each death gradually chop down even the largest oak of optimism and mellowness.

It was a normal game, yeah. However, it was a premade of 5, so I would've assumed that the enemy would be like, low Plat at the very least, not mid-Gold, certainly not Silver

Ranked Elo is independant from Normal Elo. You'd be surprised; there a lot of Gold and silver players that are deserving of Diamond and Plat but they just don't play ranked at all, some of my friends are a good example. A friend of mine is Diamond and the other is Silver but I can safely say that my Silver friend is better than my Diamond friend. It just shows that rank in league isn't an accurate portrayal of how good you are; it just shows how much you play the game (ranked). Master and Challenger however, are a different story but even then, the people who rise to the top of the ladders are those who just play the most.

^ This. Although The thing about Katarina is, she's one of those champions that stomps on low elo players. You don't have to win lane and it doesn't matter how much CC the enemy has; her clean-up is so good she just has to be in the right place at the right time and BAM she's suddenly fed.

Well, if you have some very hard cc and you support a katarina with a planned gank, you could possibly get her a free triple even if she's something like 2/5/1, which is insane. I've done it before, it's possible if you can execute the cc properly.

Slightly off-topic but relevant, Nidalee seems to be one of those champs who stomps on low Elo players like me; although that's probably 'cause I'm bad :P
Seriously, her spear does like ridiculous amounts of damage from what I see; since I normally play squishy champs as soon as I'm hit with that spear at ANY POINT in the game, it's normally near full range so I lose 20-40% HP.

That is probably due to poor positioning and warding; I used to main Nidalee before her rework and it was so easy to take advantage of people due to this. The thing is, in order for a nidalee to take advantage of this she has to put herself in a poor position so as long as warding is done right you can shut her down pretty easily.

Yeah, that sounds about right, thing is though people can't ward or position as well as those in higher levels so she can be extremely annoying if you're unable to shut her down

I don't get that many pinks throughout the game despite maining support. Only like, 2 or 3 most of the time, and nobody else thinks to upgrade their trinket/buy pinks, which, of course, leads to poor vision control and thus lots of deaths that could've been prevented

Always have a pink in your inventory even if you already have one placed down; also leave one inventory space dedicated for pinks. Don't be afraid to place your pink down wherever. It's a small difference but it's the small differences that make you win the game e.g. Pushing botlane lvl 1 for an earlier lvl 2 can win you the lane is another good example.

I've noticed that playing defensively is generally the best way to assassinate people. As Rengar I played a game where I focused exclusively on counterganks and overextended enemies instead of trying to make #bigplays and it got my fed really easily.

What about the enemy Vayne? I'm PRETTY sure she couldn't have disconnected, judging by the amount of times she died, which is EXACTLY why she had such pathetic farm alongside Ashe (who most likely did DC).

Then again, it is a normal match - not ranked... people there are trying out champions for the first time instead of going into custom games, so that might explain everything.

Thing is, ADCs are in my opinion the most difficult role to play when your team is utter shit. Just think of it - you NEED them to act like a living shield for you, so you can deal damage without the slightest possibility of being damaged, but most of the time every moron goes for whatever he wants, and not what the team needs, so you're left there with 1500 HP against all those assassins and mages who deal a k damage on their ults alone, so yeah, have fun being left to rot by your own team - your greatest enemies.

In a ranked, I always viewed my teammates as my enemies as well. I need to suck their ego dick so they can be happy and not rage quit, I need to give them the feeling that they're the ones carrying the match AND keep tabs on their personality, so I know who to block immediately.
Your opponents are much easier to control, so the true victory lies in whether or not you can satisfy your own team full of wannabe animu heroes who think their life matters the most.

Either that or just skip everything I wrote if you're Challenger and completely eat their faces off without giving a single fuck about your team, because you don't even need them.

That's something I tell everyone; it's the hardest role to carry. My most hated role but contains some of my most favourite champs. Because of that, I mained mid for a few years since it was the most fun/easiest role to carry but the recent mid meta right now just isn't to my liking so I've been forced to main ADC again. Vayne still remains my most favourite champ since she's just that kind of ADC that can do anything by herself in the right hands: Kiting, self-peel, out-duel, damage.

I actually came back to League not even a month ago and met up with an old friend, played a few ranked matches with her, and she was amazed to hear that I absolutely HATE ADCs now. I used to be a Diamond-level player back in s1 with my ADCs, and now? Oh I don't even want to know how low I am on the skill ladder nowadays when it comes to that role - simply because I start hating my life every time I pick it up and have an incompetent support. If he lacks lane presence, you might as well be fucking 1v2 bot, seriously.

I'm confident, however, that my best role currently is top (my once most hated one), with mid and support being right after it - and I damn used to adore mid and only mid, due to Scarra's streams back in the day.

I still miss s2, though - the time when I genuinely had fun playing League. =(

I don't know... the last 10 champions were not all op (Vel'Koz not op, Gnar was not op before buffs, Azir was completly bugged, Bard was... really bad) but gotta agree a lot of them were completly broken (Jinx, Yasuo, Ekko, Rek'Sai, Braum, Kalista...)

It's exactly because of everyone whining about balance and reworks that they made the game so goddamn generic and meh in terms of quality.

EVERY champion back in the day used to be OP in one way or another (except Urgot, because fuck Urgot), and starting s3, when LoL became a giant, all the casual fucks started searching for EVERY flaw that might make a champion "OP" and spam Riot to nerf it.

If you think current champions are broken, you should've seen AP Yi's laning phase. Still, it wasn't hard to kill him at all with proper plays and CC. People just declare every champion as OP when they find it too much of a bother to actually THINK of a way to counter them and put some effort into killing them.

Of all the recently released champions, Kalista is the only SERIOUSLY broken as fuck one.

What, do you mean you'd prefer the return of stuff like AP Yi over what they have been doing over the past 2 years ? Yeah because Nida throwing spears from 2 miles away and chunking down 90% of your health was OP and perfectly balanced as well.

And no not every champion was OP, so far I think they've done great with the changes compared to what it was like at that time. Yeah because look, they've made outdated champs viable again, added counterplay to stuff like Nidalee and Yi (!!! Oh noes counterplay what do we do they're not OP anymore QQ) and fixed flawed mechanics to prevent abuse.

OF COURSE they have done many stupid changes over time, but honestly I prefer how the game is now, with a couple champions being actually OP because of the changes they're trying to make (I'd say why not) than over a dozen being OP because they were poorly designed from the beginning.
K only thing I actually dislike is how their changes turned the meta into a dps tank fest but I can live with that.

Everyone has their own opinion, and I'm no different. The reasons I mentioned above is why I'll love s1-s2 above all the other seasons, not only because it was more fun to play champions that weren't sterile, generic fucks, but because the community was also more warm and welcoming than it is today, sadly.

What do you mean she can't kill tanks? She can kite virtually anyone in the game and stack those spears to infinity, and suddenly you wonder where 90% of your HP went.

Well she can, but in teamfights it renders her useless since her rend does no damage to tanks; it literally does no damage. In order for her to kill tanks, she has to go for a crit build sacrificing the runaan's which is something only Korean players do. That being said, I do highly prefer going for a crit build with Kalista, she just feels so much stronger and it's a lot easier to carry; no idea why people still go for runaan's, BT, BOTRK.

That's true, yes, but before all the teamfights come around the 25th minute mark, she can eat her lane opponents alive, and hopefully get ahead enough so as to not have THAT much of a problem with tanks later on.

It entirely depends, really.

Currently Plat V since my provisionals went 2-8; previously P1 with average game MMR of D3-- pretty annoying, but I'm not really playing ranked anywhere enough to get out of it anymore after my hands got injured

Suddenly, every Bronze, Silver and Gold player looks at you in disgust as they reflect on the Hell they went through and are currently going through. :p

I know for a fact that every tier can be annoying as fuck, but up there it's not even close to what you'd experience in lower ones, like Silver, where most people reside.
That's the whole reason I only go through my provisionals to see where I'd randomly end up in, and then wait until the next seasons' provisionals to do the same. I just find ranked too frustrating, not because of my own personality (I hardly EVER get down from someone else being a moron - I rather enjoy it and laugh at it), but because of the sheer stupidity most people there are displaying.

I hope you get into Diamond before the end of the season, though. :p

On-topic: People claim they go through Hell to climb one tier but to be honest that can be traced back to them and how they performed, at least, in my opinion. I wouldn't say it's terribly difficult to climb from, say, Silver to Gold, but failing promos a whole bunch is the absolute worst :c

I know of one dude who failed their Silver 2 -> 1 promos like, 10 times, and then there's me who only failed their Gold 4 -> 3 promos like once...and that dude is still in Silver 2 ;_;

I used to be in Silver, I know the struggles - despite that, Plat feels like the worst, considering people always have the "potential" to do something but keep disappointing you so extremely direly every single time.

Bronze, Silver and Gold you can just assume everyone's gonna feed and suck at mechanics, in Platinum it's a somewhat mixed bag so it really hits you meanly x:

Yes, I can agree with that.
In Plat, from experience, people tend to (just like you said) have the potential to make incredible plays, but not only do they constantly fail to live up to your expectations, they also think they're entitled to at least high Diamond, not Plat, so they behave like total goddamn assholes.

Silver is worse, but in a different way. People there feel demoralised from the mere fact that they're Silver, and not Gold (something a lot of Silver-ranked people dream about every night), so they give no fucks about whether or not their mechanics are equal to those of a guy without arms, or if they'll feed and quit. They just lack the fucks to give about the game itself, mostly out of self-pity or on the other extreme end - complete self-centered behaviour, even more so than those Plats.

Plats are the worst; filled with tryhards that think they're good when they don't even deserve any better. Once you start getting high Diamond games start getting more and more chill.

Bronze are, in my opinion, one of the most laid-back and kindest people on ranked. Yes, they might be terrible game-wise, but not many actually rage and feed deliberately, unlike virtually every other tier up to Diamond.
