Watch it by release order. Bake > Nise > Neko Kuro > Monogatari S2 > Hana > Tsuki. Kizu never.

Ore Monogatari and Katanagatari are not related to Monogatari series just in case although Katanagatari is also made by Nisio Isin.

I recommend you watch 'Cory in the house'. It's not very well known but it's really good. It has breathtaking animation and artistic imagery. Definetely my favourite Anime.

I think that claymore is in my opinion one of the best out there, they had a kinda badish ending, but the anime itself was amazing. However claymore is not really as well know as say FMA, Naruto, Soul Eater, etc.. But those of you out there who like animes like bastard or those types of anime then you will like this, it is a pretty depressing anime at times, but i think that just makes it even better, I hope that anyone who has not tried this anime give it a shot. :DD

Don't forget osu!, EBA and Ouendan were all inspired by the Cory in the House video game for DS, the franchase is amazing on all fronts.

I don't think many experienced fans would agree with you at all. I would probably never recommend any of those even if someone asked for shounen series.

I wouldn't recommend any of those either tbh. If you want to watch shounen, go watch something like Gurren Lagann
PyaKura
I've just finished Aldnoah Zero and... well, the end didn't feel quite right to me. It's as though the studio in charge didn't want to risk anything at the end. The series was entertaining enough though.

So, do you have any good animes in mind that aren't Mahou Shoujo nor mecha nor anything particularly sad (boy I watched Little Busters! last week and I don't feel like watching something as feelsy as this any time soon xD) ? Just a good show. Else I'm just going to pick the monogatari series up again. That or Nichijou.
Kamikaze
Pya, you should totally go for Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai. It's like your typical slice of life stuff, but it's very funny and cute. Definitly a good time-consumer.

Why does everyone hate Mahou Shoujo
PyaKura
Didn't say I hate it. Also it wasn't very clear but I was talking about the genre in general.
Green Platinum
Well you made it pretty apparent you didn't want any "even if they were good". What is your prejudice against Mahou Shoujo? I guess Mecha too but I see that less often.
[Superstar]_old
I wasn't really into Mahou Shoujo either until I watched all the Nanoha stuff. That was a turning point.

[Superstar] wrote:

My issue is rejecting shows purely on their genre alone, if it's a good anime who cares what it's about. Sure you can feel in a specific mood for a type of show but you shouldn't reject Gurren Lagann because you didn't like Gundam because they have the common theme of mecha or rejecting Madoka because they didn't like Moetan or Sailormoon.
I personally think requests should focus on the types of shows you want not the ones you don't.
Probably the only things you can opt out of is violence and sexual content IMO but they aren't genres.

I have nothing against mahou shoujo, nor mecha nor anything else. I just happen to have watched animes of these genres lately and wanted something else. I enjoy most genres. Quit jumping to conclusions so fast. :|

So I decided to give the Fate series (Fate/stay night & Fate/Zero) a shot after considering it for 3 years.

How would I watch the series? Should I watch it chronologically? I've also heard that the studio Deen adaptation was bad.

Yeah don't watch the studio deen adaptation, its shite.
Just watch Fate/Zero first then move onto the Fate/Stay night unlimited blade works series that is still ongoing

I finished watching the Monogatari series and now I have that big hole in my heart and that emptyness, that feeling of lack of reason to live and all that happens when you know that it ended, that you will never watch it again the same way you did the first time...

Anyway, are there any animes that are similarly awesome? Say at least 10% as awesome, since asking for more than that would be unthinkable, of course.

No seriously, anything highly based on dialogues and profound stuff like that?

Katanagatari is by the same writer and is so much better than the overrated monogatari series.

You could try and wait for Kizumonogatari. Which is the prequel movie to the whole Monogatari series.

No, Fate/Stay night is based off of a visual novel and like all visual novels they have multiple routes.
The Studio Deen adaptation animates the "Fate" route but they do it very poorly and that's why it is shit.
The new series being animated by Ufotable adapts the "Unlimited Blade works" route.
The story of Fate/Zero is completely original all together and acts as a prequel to Fate/Stay Night
Green Platinum
I can't even remember why Deen Fate/Stay Night is shit. I only watched it once, ages ago. It did get kinda harem-y.

Green Platinum wrote:

lol yeah, tbh I can't remember either. I just remember it being shit and Shiro saying, "People die when they are killed!"
I think the main reason I didn't like it was that I didn't like Shiro as a main character
Green Platinum
I think I will always prefer Fate/Zero even to the new one. Fate/Stay Night just feels like a galge alot of the time and the competition involved in Fate/Zero feel/are significantly more qualified to fight over the holy grail. Kiritsugu is also more GAR than Archer in F/SN.

I agree with you entirely. Kiritsugu is a great main character compared to Shiro's whiny ass always going on about justice, all the servants are given better development in Fate/Zero while in Fate/Stay Night I could care less about most of them. I give all the credit to Gen Urobuchi for making Fate/Zero shine brighter

People still need to stop treating it as the saddest thing ever.

Despite being my favourite part the series they should have removed the arc with Nagi and replaced it with one with Kaori, as that point is the high point of the whole series since that's the only performance where Arima essentially isn't fighting inner demons and would juxtapose significantly better with the later tragedy since Kaori would be involved. The alternative would be 37 episodes but that length is a turn off point for people.

The series is great I give it ~9/10, shame anime companies don't even try to reach this standard at all.
[Superstar]_old
I think some scenes were too dragged out, and there were a few things repeated over and over.
Furthermore, I dislike the whole character of Tsubaki. Most of the part she is stupidly selfish and annoying.
Despite that it was still a good Anime, but it is definately not overly sad like many people say it is.
Green Platinum
The funny thing is Tsubaki would be popular if she was in a harem anime or any series that doesn't strive to have any kind of quality.
[Superstar]_old
I'm not sure about that. But I agree that her character would fit more into that genre.

Hey don't make me say stuff I didn't say. It's not "up there" feels-wise (After Story takes that spot, followed by Little Busters, still haven't watched Ano Hana and... what was it again... Whatever.), but I definitely got "those" feelings up in my chest. I think I did tear up, but I didn't actually cry like I did for Clannad AS, hell no.

Green Platinum wrote:

I'd give it the same score, but that's purely because I don't believe in perfection, heheh. A friend of mine told me not to talk about the show to anyone except huge anime lovers for "it's one of those rare treasures which make anime what it is". I wish more companies were willing to go that far.

As to Nagi's part, well, I have my own idea as to why they decided to do this part (heck it's more or less explained later by Hiroko) but it's true that their intent was not very clear.
Anyway, the show was well worth my time.

If you want something slowly-paced that's also really emotional and well-written, Haibane Renmei or Mushishi. They're less on the comedy side of things but still really charming.

For something similar to what you listed, Non Non Biyori.

Wants stuff like Girlfriend(Kari) but dropped stuff like Aria... I don't think they will like Haibane Renmei Mogsworth, but everyone should atleast attempt Mushishi imo.

Was the mermaid show you dropped Seto no Hanayome because it is so much better than the stuff like Softenni. Although now I am thinking it's Namiuchugiwa no Muromi-san despite that show being hilarious too.

Try out:
Hidamari Sketch
Azumanga Daioh
Bamboo Blade
Bungaku Shoujo (OVAs+ Movie)
Denpa onna to seishun otoko
Maria-sama ga miteru (tho the art can be repulsive to some)

I don't even think a non-VN/Eroge omnibus anime even exists. Those are always super condensed too.
