There's a believe here that dogs do that when they see ghosts.
Maybe he just got tired of saying woof woof
probably because it is too noisy.

This is why cats are superior
i have a small dog that yaps at everything outside but a big dog that only barks when there's a person or a car or something coming up to the house, it can be annoying but i've never tried to stop the big one from barking, because although annoying, it's worth the peace of mind that there's no way someone is going to sneak in here or something without me knowing. im not exactly paranoid but im not stupid enough to trust a built-in security system either.
