On the other hand, we found that it was a bit unfair to only let the top 2 ascend, when we have two top seeded teams in each group. This results in frustration for majority of the participants, as they assume that they know already the ascenders of their group, anyways.
We came to the conclusion to consider the groupstage as true-seeding for the knock-out bracket. Even if majority of the group stage may ascend, the position your own group determines your starting position in the double elimination bracket. A raw-pp seeding is not the way to determine that.
Considering that, it seems also fine to kick 2 players per group and let 4 per group ascend, yet knowing that in the knock-out bracket, we will have a 1v4/2v3 setup, as Tasha suggested last year. So even if it is easy to ascend to the knock-outs per se, your position in the group determines the "supposed difficulty of your first knock out encounter".
Sorry for the huge confusion, I decided to go with doing a Round of 16, not cancelling it. Especially since we have evenly sized groups now (yey, 24 teams!), this is acceptable for me now.

So yeah, for this year you can be sure that every upcoming higher-mappool will have at least one of these special maps in HR and HD. Question is just if I'm going to rise the number of maps which are like that. But in any case, there will be always a normal HD / HR pick. And don't forget that there is the NM bracket, too!

The offset needs to be checked, it sounds like 10 or 20ms too early as DarkStoorm pointed it. Tried it with Hidden and this is a bit uncomfortable to play (pretty hard to get a good accuracy if you focus on the song while playing).

Are we gonna have Round of 16 or go straight to the Quarter-Finals? I think having Round of 16 is fair because kicking out 16 countries out of 24 is too much, you should let 4 countries go to the Round of 16 and kick out 2 countries per group.

That was a pleasant surprise. Glad that RO16 is still on! Also using group stage as a prelim seeding is a great idea. Still not too fond of group stage with elimination, but I'll compensate for double elim + seeded brackets.

Just a suggestion for match schedulers, I know this is hard to come up with a proper schedule with so many matches and you did a great job. But next time could you please let a bigger gap between the last match of the night for a team and its first match in the morning ? I mean we finished at midnight yesterday, and we have to play in an hour, which means we have less than 10h gap for sleeping and stuff. I'm awake but I look like a zombie

We had that discussion in 2014. Back then I mainly used such maps since I didn't want people to play in their HD/HR confort zone. Those who demand of beeing HD/HR-Master(or even the TWC Masters) shall show it in the TWC by playing these very maps. And to be honest, I still have that opinion. But back then it was seen as too exeggerated and endagered the fun in the tournament, so we had a consens to have for next year (this year; 2015) a mix of low and high bpm maps in HR and HD, so players are able to choose. But it speaks for itself if a team avoids or bans these maps. Not that I want to expose anyone. That's why we will have a mix this year. But at the end, it's an world cup after all. People should show that they are the best. Beside that, it also gives a new tactical aspects which should make the TWC more interesting.AlexGc96 wrote:

Umm... Ok so I was looking through the MP for Hong Kong VS United states group stage match and I saw a bit of a problem with the MP link
Some of the players would get FCs but the mp wouldn't show FC and no misses, this could cause a problem where a team could win by the skin of their teeth like Odds&Ends where Hong Kong actually won the map but since the score of 1 note was uncounted US won that map.

Maps are supposed to be ready one week before they are picked, it is like using an half-mapped song and saying that you will finish to map it before the macthes lol.OnosakiHito wrote:

The offset needs to be checked, it sounds like 10 or 20ms too early as DarkStoorm pointed it. Tried it with Hidden and this is a bit uncomfortable to play (pretty hard to get a good accuracy if you focus on the song while playing).
"new" as in maps that haven't been in ANY world cup (including OWC/CWC/MWC) or "new" as in maps that haven't been in any TWC?? C:
