they didn't crush EG or C9. DK had a terrible day. ViCi only had one strat and it was really embarassing to watch them fail like that in the finals.

also, na`vi is still saving strats. just wait next year.

It was already confirmed long ago that Techies will be added after TI4 ends (valve time) when the secret goal was reached (6.4mil $)

After a longer break I started with Dota again.
I am still not high level, so pretty much in any game there's at least one leaver and a few flamer including no teamwork... Still I go through this in hope it might end when I get a higher level :(

i don't mean to disappoint you, but the teamwork generally doesn't get much better lol...

But well, in -cm mode I had to play with 4 people who were 1000 MMR lower than me and I guess it's kinda worse? But not by a big margin
The best method is still to get a high impact hero yourself if you want to reach a higher level/MMR. Those include Wraith King, DOOM, Zeus, Lich, Axe (if you can play him) or simply your favorite/best heroes (I should rephrase my sentece: The best method is to get a hero where you can easily make a high impact with, which are most probably your favorite heroes or really easy/simple strong heroes like Lich).
As a support, make sure to buy smoke. I'm pretty sure that 90% of the people don't have much map awareness in early game, so smoke gang (maybe with a tp top if you're bot lane and vice versa // or simply going mid) can make a big difference.

When picking a hero, do make sure that your hero isn't immediately countered by the opponents though. I usually wait 'til the last second to pick my hero (not on 0:00 mark or you'll get lags and lose 5-10 gold) to ensure that I don't get countered.
OR I counter them myself. Most often with DOTABUFF.com lol. Just look who the opponent's core hero is. Go on DOTABUFF and look that hero up and see where his highest disadvantage is against.

I once picked safelane-Ursa just to counter Invoker-Ember-Void because I rememberd the advantage-disadvantage-stats and it worked wonders

Try heroes like Juggernaut, Lich, Vengeful Spirit, Dragon Knight or any heroes that have basic mechanics


Learn to properly last hit creeps since you' get a gold advantage
Denying creeps is a MUST since you need to deny the enemy with XP

As for builds, go at the suggested items and you're good to go

There is in-game skill and item build for every hero, so no worries about that.
Also, get ready to rage at those towers. They are ridiculous to every LoL player and you will see what I mean. The best way to get used to it is getting hit by that tower a lot so you can kinda have a feeling when and when he won't attack you :D

I started Dota without any guide and I maybe had 5-6 Bot games before I went over into public games *hides*

Yeah I played my very first DotA game at a LAN party. I chose Crystal Maiden because I knew her from the campaign (Jaina Proudmoore) and started feeding endlessly. My friends had no mercy.

Second game was with Techies and my words afterwards were "this hero is stupid, all he can do is suicide".

Yeah lol, I'm just a 2k scrub. Playing non-ranked mainly since I hate teaming up with random people that don't speak English in ranked, and the people on my friendlist rarely even touch ranked.

I'd much rather wait than see people ragequitting pubs just because someone else picked Techies before they did. That, and the huge amount of people picking Techies even if they don't know how to play them (see for reference: Arteezy during Allstar Match). September's gonna be a tough month for regular players. >_>

Techies along with Pudge (and probably sniper?) are the core of DotA. Techies not being in it would be a disgrace. Next to that, it will open a lot of new possibilities which will be fun to witness. And yes it will fuck up your public matches, but cmon it's public. You can't expect a good game when solo queueing to begin with in dota. That's either wishful thinking or pure ignorance.

I also can't wait for these new custom maps to unfold. Omni Party (Uther Party), Vampirism, Sheep Tag, Tree Tag etc. etc. I've played all these games SO many times in Warcraft 3. And I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for an Escape Gay Heaven maze game. Those were hiliarious.

Puck set's cool and all, with all the mastery gems and whatnot, but it's definitely not what I'd spend all that money for. All in all, that particular chest is definitely overpriced, and the sets themselves will drop in price pretty soon anyway (as they already are starting to drop).

The problem for me is with the two new chests. The pre-TI4 chests, also appearing in pairs, priced the same, contained much more interesting sets. But the ones now are... just a no-no. The Dark Seer one looks pretty cool, same with Batrider, the Rubick one is kinda overdone but I still like it. Which I can't say about the other sets. The Puck set is barely noticable, Furion's is so minimalistic I don't know why they even bothered adding it (especially after what the last set for Furion looked like, this one is just nowhere near), the rest are all purely uninteresting.

so ive played dota 2 for around 50 games. today was a good day.

I got called a smurf
Someone gave me a FULL set to wear for my hero for free
lost 3 games in a row because 2+ of my teammates left [they were funny games]



This character is hands down the funnest ive ever played.
5-1 overall on it

if anyone wants to play with a new scrub with a barely positive win/loss add me up. i ended up going from 28-24 to 28-27 because of the 3 games in a row with leavers, and no it wasn't in low priority queue just bad luck...

Get used to it, ragequitters can be found pretty often at this day and age. And it will only increase when Goblin Techies are added (which is announced to happen in the next 2 weeks).
I just hope the balance patch hits the game soon. Deathball push strats are way too powerful... and abused because of that.

@Nwolf that's a pretty good point. They pretty much exhausted the options for that hero, all the sets coming for that hero from now on will one way or the other resemble the old ones, which will get really boring. And if they finally kill Treasure Keys, like they are trying to do for some time now, people are going to be pissed if in some of those chests that are yet to come, a totally unoriginal and therefore cheap Furion set is what they get for, say, $2. I'd much rather see some sets for Terror, Brew, Enigma etc.

Not confirmed yet. It's a rumor, yes, considered true thanks to gosugamers, but it's not confirmed. To tell the truth, I'd much rather have Bulldog leave Alliance, since the team is too heavily depending on him and rat dota strats. Which is not likely to change even if the 'new Alliance roster' comes true (with MiSeRy and fng or Wagamama replacing s4 and EGM).

So apparently SF won't get a remodel, and even though Void is getting one, they still will release a new set for him prior to it.
I still wonder what's the point of Arcana showdown if PA, the winner, isn't the only one to get it - SF, Kunkka and Techies are going to get their arcanas as well.
Speaking of which, Techies are going to get released in the upcoming week - they already did in the test client. About time to take a break from Dota. >-> Especially since there's no signs of any balance patch coming...

kinda let down there's no allah akbar scream when using the Suicide Squad! Attack skill

so apparently Techies works as a nice counter for Huskar, throw 2-3 barrels around you and when Huskar uses Life Break (for example out of the jungle, apparently Huskar players love doing it) to get to you just detonate them, free kills <3

Too many people claiming they know how to play techies, when really, all they know how to do is plant mines near the secret shops.

For days like these I'm happy I reached 5k+ where everybody tryhards enough to not pick Techies.

I know one guy who had all his frontpage matches with Techies and not once has the team with Techies won. They need to watch some good old Ritter DotA to see how2play Techies (in the Phillipines)

That is the case.

Except there were some ranked games (I think there were 3 this day) were people picked techies and then continue to suck horse balls right after.
I'm at 3.9k mmr BTW.

Edit: okay in retrospect, 3.9k mmr is still a pretty shitty hole.

techies is pretty much spirit breaker in reverse in terms of my reaction to him being on my team or the enemy team.

this seems like a bad april fools joke, are they going to remove him when they release the full patch? hes useless for anything but turtling out a losing game and maybe winning if you have better late game heroes and the enemy supports havent farmed the entire map to 6 items while you were doing it.
