Can someone please explain the hype of RWBY to me? I just don't get it. From the bad writing to the horrendous animation and limited fight choreography, I just...don't get it. Just would like to hear a counter-argument that isn't just "ITS AWESOME'.

EDIT: I'm not really trying to be combative, just would like to understand the hype from the perspective of someone who enjoys it.

Well it's more like we are excited for roosterteeth's new thing. Roosterteeth never did animation, So we are excited to see how it turns out.

Anyway, I suppose you could say a significant part of the hype is the fact that it's a Roosterteeth production and also an almost full-3D anime-esque show which most of Roosterteeth's audience have never seen before. It's simply fresh and interesting for them and they're hyped to see how it progresses.

And I don't see anything particularly bad about the fight scenes, though I don't know another 3D show to compare with which brings me back to the above point

I think i've watched the one where they choose the outfit for velvet, I think it was a community contest other than that no, but now I know what im gonna do for the next 15-20 minutes. ;)

i quite like the new outfit for Velvet. kinda cool the community got to pick the outfit. i wonder if they do more things like that in the future

I found it interesting how it originally was blue in contrast to all the other brows submissions (didn't quite like it for that reason, actually), then Monty changed it to brown anyway

I'm so excited for RWBY. It's probably one of my favorite animes. Season 2 can't come soon enough! :D

Can't wait ~ Been looking forward to it for a while now.

From the looks of the trailer, second season seems like it'll have a much more darker theme and plot. And of course let's not forget more action ^_^

I watched around 3/4 of the first season?

IMO, it sucks, bad. it's a cartoon and doesn't deserve to be called an anime or be in the Otaku Culture subforum.

I don't see how what I said was elitist. What I implied is that cartoons are aimed at children, and have simple plot and characters, while anime are more for adults and have a more intelligent plot and interesting characters.

Depends, many Animes are aimed at small kids and have a simple plot. Vice versa theres cartoons aiming for mature audience like South Park and Family Guy.
Animes ARE cartoons, but they usually have a more detailed art style and are usually produced in japan.

Thats about it in the broad view.

If you watch the first season the episodes are 5-10 minutes long, so it wont take much of your time to give it a try to see if you like it.

Best episode ever, amazing fight scene and also : Sun and Neptune chilling at the ramen restaurent "They are probably fine right? Probably." That made me laugh so hard.
