Peppy can't really do much to fix it if other people don't have the same problem.

If you have Razer Synapse 2.0 installed on your mac, uninstall it and install a previous version. This should fix your problem.

If you don't have Razer Synapse 2.0, then I have no idea what could be the cause of the problem.

I think I already posted this before...

Does anyone know how to get language characters working?

Won't that only change how you read things (-the interface-) versus actually typing in Chinese? I don't think it affects the chat either - though I could be wrong.

Well, I can send characters perfectly fine, however, I can't read messages in chat because of the box issue.

Ah- I totally misunderstood. I have no idea how to help you lol. Your 'boxes' are normal characters for me. Was it always like that when you first downloaded osu? If so, why not re-download osu and try that if you haven't done so.

It has always been this way for some reason. I just re-downloaded, apparently it still has the boxes in place. Completely odd.

In my experience, it doesn't matter if the previous version exists somewhere on your computer. This is because Osu! doesn't keep any files in the application support. It's all inside one .app file.

Hai! I have been having similar problems, even after erasing the previous version of osu, emptying trash and restarting my macbook running 10.9, and redownloading osu, osu refuses to open at all. it pops up momentarily in dock before it just dissapears.

Is this problem continuing?

I'm going to assume you have already tried waiting for 3 minutes for any change. If you have RAZER SYNAPSE 2.0 installed on your Mac, uninstall it and install a previous version.

I recently got osu! on my mac. Osume will open and update, then when i click open osu, nothing happens. Then when i open osume again it says that osu! is already running. What is the problem?

Same as the post right above yours. Give it a few minutes to try and open. If it doesn't open, then check if you have Razer Synapse installed on your computer. If you have Razer Synapse 2.0, downgrade to Synapse 1.2, because apparently there are compatibility issues with the two applications.

Keep trying to open it. Macs have this really weird security thing or something where it wont open unless you've tried to open it 3 times or so(?). If that doesn't work, try right clicking on it and selecting "Open" rather than double clicking it.

Then delete your current version and reinstall an older version of Synapse (version 1.2, I believe.)

@mockingod I'm not sure if you have a mac or not, but there isn't a Razer Synapse available for Mac that is older than 1.2 (after doing a few searches). So what now?

I do use a mac, but I don't use Razer Synapse myself since I used my trackpad acting like a tablet to play, now I recently acquired my tablet, so I have no need for a mouse really.

There are people in this thread who have managed to find previous versions of Synapse for their macs, I believe. You'll have to look hard.

There is a setting inside system preferences that prevents you from opening applications that were not downloaded from the mac app store. Maybe if you turn it off, that shall fix it?

Also, a personal question from me. Some of my friends have claimed that they can change bindings without having to go into the .cfg file. Can anyone else do this? I can't change bindings without doing that.

I believe I still have this setting on, but I can open applications not from the mac app store if I try to open it more than 3 times or right click and select open or something.

hi, my friend is playing osu! on a mac..he has problems creating a new diff for beatmaps/changing song setup settings like OD/CS/AR and saving it as a new diff without overwriting the previous. help anyone? thanks in advance!

As for TequilaWolf, can you elaborate? If I'm understanding correctly, he can't create a new difficulty without overwriting the last difficulty. Is that what you're saying?

We can upload maps, however, the bar at the top is not visible. You have to randomly tap around the top of the empty bar. It'll look like this:

The cursor movement are just... a bit unnatural and glitchy, unlike when you play on windows.
Maybe it's because of the graphic cards? Thanks again~

I used to have it a lot, then I realized it was because I was running took any things at once (too many Safari tabs, apps not napping, background changing every 5 seconds.). I just closed my tabs.
Also, I noticed that while playing in 1280x800 windowed, I do experience a lag spikes every now and then (enough to disrupt gameplay) whereas playing in 1400x900 (borderless) doesn't give me any of the lag. Try running it in the largest resolution it can be for you screen.

I have a similar thing. I sometimes have the approach circles appear a bit jittery/laggier than normal. It doesn't bother me too much, but it is a bit annoying when playing ar9 maps. If I notice it's jittery, I just command-tab to switch applications then switch back and try again. I do this until the approach circles aren't laggy anymore. It only takes maybe twice or three times.

Lag in general has gotten better for me, but I find that if I have a livestream open in the background (not as active tab), my game lags significantly. If I have Facebook open as the active tab on my web browser, my game will lag occasionally. (I think this is because of the live feed on the right side for facebook).

try to disable video, set background dim to 100%
if still laggy try to disable all effect
set fps limiter to 60 fps

It's just me or the Mac version is getting REALLY unstable lately?

It is crashing a lot, and i'm getting this about 3 or 4 times before it actually opens

No crashes at all in the past three days except for after I closed the application. I played probably played over 18 hours total in the past three days too.

Today I did notice that my game was really 'laggy' and I kept having spikes to ~15 fps and it was impossible to play, but I just restarted my computer and it was fixed.

I only crash if I keep it open for over a day or click too many links in game too quickly. I reduced the lag by increasing my frame limiter from 60 to 300 (your comp. might heat up though). I also noticed a VERY,VERY small difference in computer cursor and in game cursor in some rare instances.

I reinstall it but nothing has changed, keeps crashing very frequently.

I saw something similar once when some of my songs did not register even tho unpackaged by the unarchiver, never caused me a crash though.
It might be related to you having a beatmap not registering properly. Check your beatmaps and see if any are unloaded.

All the maps are loaded, but i will do a complete rescan of them, maybe that helps.

I've been having a problem playing CTB for the Mac recently. Whenever I load into a song, the catcher disappears from the screen. So I can't catch the fruits because the character you control is invisible. I don't really know why this happened. It just randomly stopped working about a week ago.

Is there anyone who figured out the problem with Razer Synapse yet?
I just bought a Razer Naga 2014 which required an update of Razer Synapse so I had to update... now at version 1.14 osu won't open anymore

No idea. As far as I know, Osu on windows is compatible with Razer Synapse. I don't have the interest of debugging the error since I use a tablet for playing osu on my mac.

Im having problems with either my mac or Osu!, every time i play for an unknown period of time, it'll keep running, but the second i close osu!, it'll dim the screen and tell me to restart my mac, is it just me and is there a way to stop this?

Are you running it off the disk image file it came in? Are you running Osu! off your flash drive?

If you're running it off your flash drive, make sure everything is closed before you pull it out. If you are dragging the disk image to 'safe eject' your flash drive, make sure that it fully disappears from your desktop before you pull it out of your computer. The same message happened to me on multiple occasions because I was impatient.

If you're running it off the disk image file, I can only assume you need to close Osu!.app fully before you eject it. I haven't run it off the disk image file before.

If it's anything else, then I really don't know.

oh ok because i dlwd it on my mac, not on a flash drive i think im overheating my mac, is there a way to avoid/check?
EDIT: it crashes my whole Mac, so it either has something to do with Osu.app or my mac not being able to handle it, if you want my specs i can give it.

Is osu! causing your mac to heat up more then usual after the last couple of updates? I noticed my fan is on more frequently even though I'm running the same settings as before.

Do I really need to have the older version of razer synapse? because i have uninstalled it and now I have tried opening my osu and it the application is not responding. I have no razer mouse or keyboard. if anyways i will try the older version of synapse. to see if its still not responding.

If you don't have a razer mouse or keyboard, just completely uninstall razer synapse and don't worry about it.

The application not responding is a first. Maybe try wait it out a bit before force quitting the application or something.

I have tried waiting just now for about 6 hours leaving the application open and still no response. What I am trying to do now is using it with mavericks or playing it from an external unit (flash drive).

It helps but it will still heat up. i have zero other applications open, a minimal window for osu and on OpenGL but will still heat up quickly

U can buy cooling pad for laptops too.

And also its because of wineskin. When you run a Windows application through Wine the game's code is first taken to Wine, then X11, then OS X and then finally to the hardware. which is kinda resource intensive and can cause lags and delays. This may vary from game to game how much lag and delays you get.
I personally use 300 FPS limiter.
OpenGL might be your problem, OpenGL is more resource intensive. I use DirectX mainly because I can't run in OpenGL (my Osu! is super bugged for some reason).

I've had this problem for awhile but hadn't really thought of posting it. The problem starts after a few games played (without exiting/restarting osu).
Fixing it is no problem - simple forcequit and run it again but... still a problem.

I got a friend to spectate onto when I 'reached' this point

Edit: The problem - Sliders began to 'disappear' or lightly flash.

Currently, what frustrates me is that, when you play four or five songs, by that time, frame rate starts to drop. When frame rate drops, it doesn't read spins as fast, slider breaks occur more often, and accuracy is lowered because the cursor can't move fast enough. Anyone else experience this?

I dont experience that, but I do notice that I get a lot of random lag spikes. They don't occur enough for me to get mad at them, but they have made me lose new records I get on my songs. Sometimes when I use DT on some maps like Crayon Pop - Saturday Night (Hard), the approach circles appear laggy, but switching applications with command-tab and then switching back a few times will magically make it stop happening. (Or maybe it's just that restarting the map fixes it after doing so a few times).

I only really get the bad lag Tsuchi is talking about when something pops up with Mac's stupid application update message. Sometimes Mac's message 'loads' but doesn't appear for a few seconds, so I'm left wondering what is making my game lag. I open activity monitor, and see the update task and then I just end it, and the mac update message appears for a split second before just disappearing, and then my game is not as laggy anymore.

There needs to be either a native mac client or the editor to be fixed. Right now, there is no way to go into the menus of the editor (file, edit, etc at the top). So you can't save beatmap as new difficulty or do new difficulties for a map. Or maybe I'm overlooking something?

Were there any solutions for the mentioned delay? i am still needing to use -200 universal offset with effects turned off. what could be causing this? and does that inply there could be huge lag on my system even outside osu?

Adding onto^
Make sure to stop your desktop background image from changing every X amount of time (if you have this on).
Also I noticed I tend to have frame skips and lag strikes more often when running osu! in a window that is not as large as the screen. Set your resolution to 1440x900 (I presume is your max resolution available).

My game wont load anymore for some reason. I have tried re-installing it but had no luck. I dont know how this happened or how to fix it. Please help

I actually have the same problem, although i'm running an old mac. I think it has something to do with a delay on the keyboard-input.
I'm not sure though. Would appreciate any help.

I've tried running only osu! and a black background (not automatically changing). Didn't help. ._.

My specs
Processor: Intel Core Duo @2,4GHz
RAM: 8GB 1067MHz DDR3
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce 320M 256MB
OS: Lion 10.7.5

Actually, yes. I noticed that it hasnt been working since i installed Razer Synapse but then again I havent played osu for a while long before I installed it so i assumed the game was simply not up-to-date. Does Razer Synapse interfere with the game?

It's only bouncing on the dock then disappearing as if the app opens then immediately closes on its own.

That's like mine, and yeah it's because of Razer Synapse being installed. Is there a way of playing osu with out Synapse being removed?

Yes, apparently there is something in Razer Synapse 2.0 that interferes with Osu! on your mac. It seems to be Osu!'s fault, as it used to work before with Razer Synapse a long time ago (I used Synapse too).

Unfortunately there has been no solution for it posted since it started happening. I have no idea what the problem is myself. It's been suggested that you find an older version of synapse for your mac (1.2 or something). People said that still works.

Sorry, can't help you there. I started using my trackpad as a tablet before Synapse stopped working, then just uninstalled synapse and kept playing. I now own a tablet and haven't used my Razer Mouse for Osu in well over 5 months.

I recall someone has found an earlier version, though. I can try googling in my free time later.

I'm not sure if anyone post this here yet, but some mouse like the deathadder 2013 has onboard memory. You can install synapse 2.0, set the dpi, polling rate, and the acceleration that you want, unplug the mouse, uninstall synapse, restart your mac, and plug the mouse back in. The settings should be saved so you can play Osu on the settings you want without using synapse 2.0. The only problem is that you would be stuck on that setting for all other applications unless you reinstall synapse again. Look up if your mouse has onboard memory before you do this.

actually i don't have any razer things, and apple's trackpad is more than enough for everyday use and playing some game
