When i attempt to open Osu the icon just bounces on the dock once, the light comes up, and then Osu closes right away. What do i do???? :'

The easiest way to back up your stuff is to Right click osu!, open the contents and copy everything

actually the new one works fine in full screen without annoying dock

I had this same error if you were reading the past pages. The suggestion of deleting Razer Syanpse helped me greatly. If you have Razer Synapse, I suggest deleting it from your computer. If you use a Razer mouse to play, maybe downloading a previous version of Razer Synapse will work, but I use my trackpad + Inklet to play rather than my mouse, so I never looked if installing a previous version of Razer Synapse worked.[/quote]

Someone has already come up with a fix for Razer Synapse interfering with osu!. Just find the .dmg for the Razer Synapse 1.12 update and install that instead of the newest update which is 1.18. I can use Synapse just fine.

There isn't a way to do that. Your best hope in being able to run osu better than running it now would be to take the basic steps of making sure osu! is the only application running. Don't download anything while playing because that takes up memory, which can slow down other processes.

I have a pseudo-fix for hotkeys (Q,W,E,1,2,Spacebar,etc.). All you need to do is change the engine of osu!.

Warning! This is only recommended for tablet players and mappers. Personally, I wouldn't even recommend this for playing because of the slight cursor lag compared to the Wine engine 1.7.8.

First, go to Spotlight search and type in Wineskin Winery. Open Wineskin Winery and click on the small plus icon.


Scroll down until you find the "WS9WineCX12.1.2" OR "WS9WineCX12.1.2AMDSpeedHack" (both worked for me).
Download and install it.

Go into the package contents of osu! by right clicking the osu!.app and click Show Package Contents.

Open the Wineskin app.

When prompted, click on Advanced, then under Wrapper tools, click on Change Engine Used and find the engine you just downloaded.

It'll go through a little process to change the engine, so don't open osu! while it's doing this. It will finish and return to the Advanced option window.

Just repeat the steps to go back to the old engine (which i believe is WS9Wine1.7.2. You can download the latest version, 1.7.8, from Wineskin Winery if you like), but instead click on the other engine to switch over.

If you have Razer Synapse 2.0 installed on your computer, using a previous version than that will work, according to others in this thread.

I'm having problems..... Soo when I'm playing OSU, the app would automatically freeze mid game and I would have to exit out. After having the game for some while, I cannot open the app. Every time when I click on the app it won't open still. Am I suppose to uninstall razor synapse because I have it installed on my mac?

okay I guess thats not my problem. Here's my problem. After some form of update my osu won't open. It keeps opening the wineskin menu... What am I supposed to do.

Yes. You install it by opening up the package contents of Osu.app then navigating to the skins folder.

Find drive_c in one of the folders, then open the folder named osu, then skins should be there. If you still have trouble, I believe you can zip the file up, and rename the extension to osk then just drag it to your osu! game window.

how do I unzip the dmg file? Also I used to have issues when my OSU app kept freezing and I would have to force quit the application. After a while, whenever I would click on the OSU app to open up the game it won't open. It would show in the dock that it's opening then automatically close out. I would click the app multiple times but it would still do the same. I also downloaded wineskin and I tried merging the installer with the wineskin application (OSU application) and it gave me an error open. Also, when I download the .exe file and when I try to extract it, it won't work. Could someone please show me how to download OSU and stop the freezing issues when I play OSU?

I don't know about the freezing issues, but:

1. You don't unzip dmg files. You can open them normally like folders. They are disk image files which usually all applications on mac that are downloaded appear as. (I don't know why they don't use zip, but I don't really care for the technical side of things)

2. If you can't open it at all, then delete Razer Synapse off your computer. We told you in a previous post to, but you didn't reply back. Razer Synapse 2.0 is the cause of the crashing at startup. If you want to use your razer mouse still on your mac, then you will have to install a previous version, Synapse 1.2 or something. I haven't had the need to install it because the default movement speed with acceleration disabled is fine for me. (I don't use the mouse much anyways)

Did you force quit Osu? Or did you leave it like that still? (to force quit an application just hold Command+Alt+Esc and select from the window)

I recently downloaded a high definition skin which made loading beatmaps really long and sometimes crashed into a black screen too... are you using any complicated skin?

^ This is common. Anyone crashing/freezing - check if you're computer can handle it (your skin that is).

Forcequit is your best friend guys. I've used it so many times I've lost count lol - not complaining; bugs will always be here and there.

Thanks for the help. Sorry that I didn't see your other post before. I have deleted Razer Synapse and OSU has started to run smoother. I get up to 300+ FPS and the game doesn't freeze automatically anymore.

If anyone has a link to an old Razer Synapse such has 1.2 could you please link me? That would be great thanks!

I absolutely love osu!, and I cannot play it. On my mac whenever I try to play, any song that has sliders lags me down to 1 fps. I have tried to download osu over and over, restart and do everything possible. I wish it worked D:

Okay for some reason, osu won't launch anymore. I deleted my current and downloaded a new one and the problem persists. None of this Razer Synapse stuff is breaking anything because i'm using an old version that worked before.

Hm. Maybe try deleting the old Razer Synapse too?

I don't know how long you are waiting when opening Osu!, but if you just started up your computer, try waiting at least 3 minutes for it to open.

Thanks, no snaking sliders made it lag a lot less, but it still lags. I use the DirectX renderer.

So lately, osu has been freezing my entire computer..... I don't know whats going on but, its either after i launch osu, or just at random points. It will literally freeze out the whole computer where i have to restart my mac again...... Does anyone has the same problem?

I've had the problem in the past, but only when clicking links. I just occasionally closed and reopened the client, prevented random freezes or crashes.

P.S. Once in a million, there will be frame skips in the middle of songs, problem was also fixed by occasionally closing and reopening the client.

I encountered serious problem with my Osu! client. Osu! causes a immediate shutdown, but it only occurs in multiplayer mode. I already tried to do a clean installation, but unfortunately it didn't solve the problem. Any idea what I could do ?

I am going to post all my specifications and required files, if necessary. But I wonder if there is an easy way to fix this, by the way I am running OS X 10.9 Mavericks.

Peppy can't really do much to fix it if other people don't have the same problem.

If you have Razer Synapse 2.0 installed on your mac, uninstall it and install a previous version. This should fix your problem.

If you don't have Razer Synapse 2.0, then I have no idea what could be the cause of the problem.

Won't that only change how you read things (-the interface-) versus actually typing in Chinese? I don't think it affects the chat either - though I could be wrong.

Ah- I totally misunderstood. I have no idea how to help you lol. Your 'boxes' are normal characters for me. Was it always like that when you first downloaded osu? If so, why not re-download osu and try that if you haven't done so.

In my experience, it doesn't matter if the previous version exists somewhere on your computer. This is because Osu! doesn't keep any files in the application support. It's all inside one .app file.

Hai! I have been having similar problems, even after erasing the previous version of osu, emptying trash and restarting my macbook running 10.9, and redownloading osu, osu refuses to open at all. it pops up momentarily in dock before it just dissapears.

Is this problem continuing?

I'm going to assume you have already tried waiting for 3 minutes for any change. If you have RAZER SYNAPSE 2.0 installed on your Mac, uninstall it and install a previous version.

I recently got osu! on my mac. Osume will open and update, then when i click open osu, nothing happens. Then when i open osume again it says that osu! is already running. What is the problem?

Same as the post right above yours. Give it a few minutes to try and open. If it doesn't open, then check if you have Razer Synapse installed on your computer. If you have Razer Synapse 2.0, downgrade to Synapse 1.2, because apparently there are compatibility issues with the two applications.

Keep trying to open it. Macs have this really weird security thing or something where it wont open unless you've tried to open it 3 times or so(?). If that doesn't work, try right clicking on it and selecting "Open" rather than double clicking it.

@mockingod I'm not sure if you have a mac or not, but there isn't a Razer Synapse available for Mac that is older than 1.2 (after doing a few searches). So what now?

I do use a mac, but I don't use Razer Synapse myself since I used my trackpad acting like a tablet to play, now I recently acquired my tablet, so I have no need for a mouse really.

There are people in this thread who have managed to find previous versions of Synapse for their macs, I believe. You'll have to look hard.

I believe I still have this setting on, but I can open applications not from the mac app store if I try to open it more than 3 times or right click and select open or something.

hi, my friend is playing osu! on a mac..he has problems creating a new diff for beatmaps/changing song setup settings like OD/CS/AR and saving it as a new diff without overwriting the previous. help anyone? thanks in advance!

As for TequilaWolf, can you elaborate? If I'm understanding correctly, he can't create a new difficulty without overwriting the last difficulty. Is that what you're saying?

We can upload maps, however, the bar at the top is not visible. You have to randomly tap around the top of the empty bar. It'll look like this:

Another question.... I'm having... a bit feeling of lagg or something when playing osu!std...
The cursor movement are just... a bit unnatural and glitchy, unlike when you play on windows.
Maybe it's because of the graphic cards? Thanks again~

I used to have it a lot, then I realized it was because I was running took any things at once (too many Safari tabs, apps not napping, background changing every 5 seconds.). I just closed my tabs.
Also, I noticed that while playing in 1280x800 windowed, I do experience a lag spikes every now and then (enough to disrupt gameplay) whereas playing in 1400x900 (borderless) doesn't give me any of the lag. Try running it in the largest resolution it can be for you screen.

I have a similar thing. I sometimes have the approach circles appear a bit jittery/laggier than normal. It doesn't bother me too much, but it is a bit annoying when playing ar9 maps. If I notice it's jittery, I just command-tab to switch applications then switch back and try again. I do this until the approach circles aren't laggy anymore. It only takes maybe twice or three times.

Lag in general has gotten better for me, but I find that if I have a livestream open in the background (not as active tab), my game lags significantly. If I have Facebook open as the active tab on my web browser, my game will lag occasionally. (I think this is because of the live feed on the right side for facebook).

try to disable video, set background dim to 100%
if still laggy try to disable all effect
set fps limiter to 60 fps

also i'd like to know about your mac's specs

It's just me or the Mac version is getting REALLY unstable lately?

It is crashing a lot, and i'm getting this about 3 or 4 times before it actually opens

No crashes at all in the past three days except for after I closed the application. I played probably played over 18 hours total in the past three days too.

Today I did notice that my game was really 'laggy' and I kept having spikes to ~15 fps and it was impossible to play, but I just restarted my computer and it was fixed.

I only crash if I keep it open for over a day or click too many links in game too quickly. I reduced the lag by increasing my frame limiter from 60 to 300 (your comp. might heat up though). I also noticed a VERY,VERY small difference in computer cursor and in game cursor in some rare instances.

I reinstall it but nothing has changed, keeps crashing very frequently.

I saw something similar once when some of my songs did not register even tho unpackaged by the unarchiver, never caused me a crash though.
It might be related to you having a beatmap not registering properly. Check your beatmaps and see if any are unloaded.

All the maps are loaded, but i will do a complete rescan of them, maybe that helps.

I've been having a problem playing CTB for the Mac recently. Whenever I load into a song, the catcher disappears from the screen. So I can't catch the fruits because the character you control is invisible. I don't really know why this happened. It just randomly stopped working about a week ago.

Is there anyone who figured out the problem with Razer Synapse yet?
I just bought a Razer Naga 2014 which required an update of Razer Synapse so I had to update... now at version 1.14 osu won't open anymore

No idea. As far as I know, Osu on windows is compatible with Razer Synapse. I don't have the interest of debugging the error since I use a tablet for playing osu on my mac.

Im having problems with either my mac or Osu!, every time i play for an unknown period of time, it'll keep running, but the second i close osu!, it'll dim the screen and tell me to restart my mac, is it just me and is there a way to stop this?

Are you running it off the disk image file it came in? Are you running Osu! off your flash drive?

If you're running it off your flash drive, make sure everything is closed before you pull it out. If you are dragging the disk image to 'safe eject' your flash drive, make sure that it fully disappears from your desktop before you pull it out of your computer. The same message happened to me on multiple occasions because I was impatient.

If you're running it off the disk image file, I can only assume you need to close Osu!.app fully before you eject it. I haven't run it off the disk image file before.

If it's anything else, then I really don't know.

oh ok because i dlwd it on my mac, not on a flash drive i think im overheating my mac, is there a way to avoid/check?
EDIT: it crashes my whole Mac, so it either has something to do with Osu.app or my mac not being able to handle it, if you want my specs i can give it.

Is osu! causing your mac to heat up more then usual after the last couple of updates? I noticed my fan is on more frequently even though I'm running the same settings as before.
