I got the same message as you and i tried downloading a new client and putting it in a different file but it still does not work. Also what do you mean by (.app)?HamsterCurry wrote:
Yeah it's the one from the Download page. Then install the new osu client (.app) in a different file than the one containing your original osu client. Update it. Move files over to the new one from the old one and it should work.
Edit: Don't open the .app directly from the installer. Move it to a different file than the one containing your original osu client then open it to update it.
Edit2: Also when I say move the files over, I meant copy it then paste to the new client. If you try to move it over, you are making a shortcut and that won't work. Copy paste them.
this is exactly what is happening to memockingod wrote:

Before I updated my last one, it opened fine. After I updated it, by clicking the button in game, it gave me an error that was shown in a picture about 8 posts ago. Nothing appears when I redownloaded the new installer though

Download the OS X beta installer - http://m2.ppy.sh/osu!.20130922.dmg
Open the .dmg file and run the Osu app.
To insert the previous songs you already had (as well as skins), Show Package Contents on your old Osu and just replace the 'Song' and 'Skin' folder of the osu you just downloaded.

Yes there is a way! You need to download Synapse version 1.16 or less, I believe. I'm not sure at which version it starts causing the problem (the latest version is 1.18) so if 1.16 doesn't work, download 1.15 instead.m_warsh wrote:

After this my osu! is definitely lagging a little too. It's playable thoughmockingod wrote:
Deleting Razer Synapse seems to have worked. It'll bounce in the dock for a second, then disappear, but then the message that says winebuildersomething.exe has become unresponsive, then a few seconds after, Osu! will open.
However, I find that it is kind of lagging a little more than it usually has. It may just be me, because I haven't played in half a week, but I can notice the visual lag that I've never had.
It's still definitely playable, though.
I agree it's much better to be playing back in the Mac; but Razer Synapse is quite nice. I remember talk of a dedicated Mac version of osu was in the works; hopefully it'll fix this issue.Delosias wrote:

Well I downloaded an older version of Razer Synapse. I believe 1.12 just googled for it and it worked. But I don't know how your mouse will behave with an older version...Metaphalo wrote:

yeah, I would personally recommend this but mine goes all over the place (acting weird) with older versions.Delosias wrote:

I would probably just look up a guide to stream anything to Twitch.tv. There's a lot of guides on youtube. Don't believe there should be a differencesorjaijonmak wrote:
How to livestream osu! to Twitch.tv on mac?
What hotkeys don't work for you? If you are talking about F1, F2, etc. to pick mods or random, then you must press "fn" (which should be to the left of control on the bottom left of your keyboard), while you press the F# keys. Or you can set in system preferences to make it be the other way around, where you have to press "fn" and F# to make your screen brighter/darker etc.Tsuchimikado wrote:
Has anyone found a way around hotkeys and keyboard shortcuts not working?
I had this same error if you were reading the past pages. The suggestion of deleting Razer Syanpse helped me greatly. If you have Razer Synapse, I suggest deleting it from your computer. If you use a Razer mouse to play, maybe downloading a previous version of Razer Synapse will work, but I use my trackpad + Inklet to play rather than my mouse, so I never looked if installing a previous version of Razer Synapse worked.derekocean wrote:

After months of not finding time to fix the remaining problems with the OS X build of osu!, I have decided to make it public in its current state. You may have issues importing songs, but this can usually be fixed by mashing escape or alt-f4.
Please note this is a test release (beta if you like) and there are known bugs. That said, feel free to share your experiences in this thread and try and help each other out until the bugs are ironed out.
http://m1.ppy.sh/osu!.20130922.dmg
http://m2.ppy.sh/osu!.20130922.dmg
Compatible with OS X 10.6~10.9.x
Things to know:Adding Beatmaps:
- The first time you run osu!, it may take up to 5 minutes to start. This is due to X11 (the graphical subsystem) rebuilding a font cache.
- This build will always start the updater when you run it. It will update to newer releases and therefore when the remaining issues are fixed you will automatically receive the fixes.
- Importing songs may get stuck. If this happens, try alt-f4 or esc mashing, or quit osu! and run it again.
- To see the osu! folder, right-click on osu!.app and choose "Show Package Contents" then navigate to Contents/Resources/winePrefix/drive_c/osu/
- Apparently you can load new songs by dragging the .osz file to the osu! icon.
Open the package:
Navigate to the songs folder:
Drag your osz files inside:
Run osu! and goto song selection (or hit F5 if you are already there).
Note that you can make a shortcut to the songs folder on your desktop by dragging the folder while holding command and option. This should make it easier to load new maps for now!

Someone has already come up with a fix for Razer Synapse interfering with osu!. Just find the .dmg for the Razer Synapse 1.12 update and install that instead of the newest update which is 1.18. I can use Synapse just fine.derekocean wrote:

OMG!!! HOW DID YOU KNOW I USE RAZOR SYNAPSE ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??
There isn't a way to do that. Your best hope in being able to run osu better than running it now would be to take the basic steps of making sure osu! is the only application running. Don't download anything while playing because that takes up memory, which can slow down other processes.Novixion wrote:
Is there a way to allow more languages into osu? Only the boxes below have been shown instead of the characters. I've had this problem since I started about 5 months ago. English is my primary language but it feels weird to not be able to see the other languages.
Also, is there a way to allocate more CPU or RAM to osu?

unzip it, then follow instruction below:Chriskillz wrote:

how do I unzip the dmg file? Also I used to have issues when my OSU app kept freezing and I would have to force quit the application. After a while, whenever I would click on the OSU app to open up the game it won't open. It would show in the dock that it's opening then automatically close out. I would click the app multiple times but it would still do the same. I also downloaded wineskin and I tried merging the installer with the wineskin application (OSU application) and it gave me an error open. Also, when I download the .exe file and when I try to extract it, it won't work. Could someone please show me how to download OSU and stop the freezing issues when I play OSU?Kurogamii wrote:

You'll need to erase the previous version of osu entirely. Don't leave in the trash without emptying it. Empty your trash, and THEN, install the new osu.iTeetoLord wrote:
