On-topic: Yeah, his main attraction is that 1-turn solar beam. It's a bit crazy since you have both fire and grass moves. Great coverage. But then again that Tyranitar might be a reaaaaally smart counter.
Charizard can learn Focus Blast which is guaranteed OHKO any Tyranitar set except 252/252 Careful + Assault Vest.
But that accuracy ;_;If he switches in to Solar Beam and you have Stealth Rock + 3 layer Spikes support then it's guaranteed OHKO against Tyranitar without HP/SpD invested:
252+ SpA Mega Charizard Y Solar Beam vs. +1 4 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar: 224-264 (65.4 - 77.1%)
Timid nature = ~30% chance T-Tar won't die to Solar Beam + Rocks + 3 Spikes:
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Solar Beam vs. +1 4 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar: 204-240 (59.6 - 70.1%)
However if you switch Charizard into Tyranitar you can likely OHKO it with Solar Beam since it loses it's +1 from Sand:
252+ SpA Mega Charizard Y Solar Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar: 334-394 (97.6 - 115.2%) Guaranteed OHKO with Rocks or Spikes.
Carry Focus Blast or run hazards and most Tyranitars shouldn't be a problem.
