From the Productive Mod Team's QueueNice song for taiko. Lots of potential due to the other oriental instruments. It's been done before in osu!, but who cares when Only My Railgun has been ranked eight separate times.
(#) Always means the combo number of the note BEFORE any of my edits are applied. If you remove (56), no notes after that note lose a combo number.
(d) A normal
don(D) A large
don(k) A regular
kat(K) A large
katKantan00:02:482 ~ Consider removing (3) and (5) to lower difficulty.
00:08:482 - 00:26:482 ~ Because it seems like you are following the vocals for this part here, considering the pitch will make the small amount of notes in the difficulty count. To be general, when the voice's pitch rises drastically, place a kat. When it lowers back down, place a don. Same applies for other sections, but this is the best place to bring it up.
00:17:857 ~ The pattern starting at (15) is a little too long for a kantan difficulty, so removing (20) here will help shorten the pattern and make it easier for players.
00:22:732 ~ Either remove (28) here or add a note between (29) and (30). The same thing is happening in the vocals for both spots, so it's weird that the taiko isn't doing the same thing.
All my other problems can be fixed via applying the second suggestion over the rest of the song.
Futsuugeh you use new combo orz
00:11:857 ~ It's odd that while the same thing is happening in the song at 00:10:732 as it is here, yet this one has zero notes being placed over the vocals when the other one has the 'hard' pattern for Futsuu players. It feels like I should be playing here, so adding a (d) or a (k) should do good.
00:14:857 ~ Another pause where I feel as if I should be playing.
If you remove the awkward pause here, the song might get too hard. To compensate, you might want to remove notes like 00:09:232 and 00:12:232 to compensate. These sound and play better than the pauses you have.
00:16:732 ~ Having another 1/2 pattern here right after the first one might be too hard, especially when you are reversing direction. Removing the middle note to turn the pattern from (k)(d)(d) to (k)_(d) should be a good fix. It also sounds good with the song.
00:21:232 ~ Feels like this should be (k) to fit with the song.
00:23:669 ~ Even though the vocals are doing the same thing here, this might be too hard to do in succession. I suggest removing this note here.
00:24:419 ~ You can place a (d) here to replace the one you removed. It helps give the player a pattern to follow as well.
00:42:607 ~ I had a few taiko newbie friends try this pattern and barely anyone could hit it, despite knowing the song. You could replace it with (k)_(d)_(d)(d)(d)_(k) to make it Futsuu player friendly.
00:51:607 ~ Switching this from a (K) to a (k) will help make the next note really stand out, plus it helps with difficulty.
00:53:482 ~ This kinda feels weird to play as a (k). Try making it a (d) and see which one feels better to play.
01:15:982 ~ (D)(D)(D) at 1/2 is too hard for futsuu players. (d)(d)(D) or (D)_(D) would be an acceptable pattern here.
01:17:482 ~ Same as above
01:21:982 ~ and here
01:23:482 ~ and here
01:25:357 ~ Because this is the end of the song, you can keep this in on one condition (dundundun). Put a (k) at 01:25:919
01:27:607 ~ This can be a (K) if you want.
More awkward pauses... 00:22:357 ~ 00:59:857
MuzukashiiI'm going to be a lot less picky here because as difficulty rises, more stuff is acceptable. My main problem here is that many patterns are just steady streams of 1/2, when you can be more creative.
00:08:482 ~ The pattern starting here goes on for 18 hitobjects. The 1/4 at the start is OK, but remove some dons in this pattern to give the player a bit of breathing room.
00:12:419 ~ Remove this kat to create a sequence of (k)(k)(d) that plays and sounds good.
00:15:794 ~ Remove the hitobject here to avoid run-on, and separate the different vocal phrases.
00:16:544 ~ Same as above.
00:23:294 ~ Give the player a small break after the 1/4's to recoup by removing this note here.
00:24:044 ~ Same as above.
00:42:044 ~ Either remove this note, or remove the second note in the 1/4 stream for difficulty reasons.
00:45:232 ~ Move this forward one red tick to start a pattern with the vocals.
00:45:982 ~ Move this back a red tick to finish the pattern above
Repeat this pattern when it happens again next bar.
00:52:544 ~ If you plan to use 1/4 like that, remove this note to balance out the difficulty.
Repeat this edit whenever it is seen.
01:00:607 ~ The pattern here is 20 hitobjects long. You should cut it up a bit.
01:15:982 ~ Another modder MIGHT bring up using (D)(D)(D) in Muzukashii. I'm fine with it because it's close to the end of the song.
OniI don't have much to say about this difficulty. It might be because I am tired when playing this, but something feels really off about the 1/4 streams. It's fine that the 1/4 streams are there, but it feels like the alternating of (d) and (k) should be simplified a bit. It just doesn't feel 'natural' to play, something Oni's should have. Outside of the streams, the map feels really nice. I'll point out a bit of things I found, but it won't be as intensive as my other mods here. Most of my suggestions will be "This would sound really awesome" instead of "fix this or it's not getting ranked".
00:39:419 ~ Feel free to put a don here, and every other time you hear it. The vocals are playing here just like every other note, so it fits.
00:39:607 ~ If you are familiar with musical theory and devices, you might notice that making this note a (D) instead of a (k) will make a Call//Response style pattern that feels really natural for the player. You might need to build a bit around it, but imagine that there are two taiko drummers that are taking turns playing, sort of playing to each other.
00:41:107 ~ Make this a (K) please. It sounds really nice, and you put one at the next instance of it.
01:15:982 ~ More of the call and response here. To really show the appearance of multiple singers (and multiple taiko drum players), you should drop the SV back down to normal for everything other than the (D)(D)(D) pattern.
Thanks for posting in our modding queue! I'm really glad to see more taiko maps being pushed toward ranking. I will not be offended if you decide not to make an edit I posted here, they are simply suggestions I make to make it feel better and more fun to play.
