GAAAH. I'm trying to find a good renderer for the mascot, and thought I'd settle with FinalToon. But I can't find the SP1 version anywhere(Found one link, but NOD32 reported it as a virus). I don't want it to look like a 3D model... ;__;

The general anatomy feels a bit off. I think it would be really beneficial if you used references a la nude models (and let's keep it serious in this thread) as well as human skeletons. ALSO YOUR HANDS LOOK PRETTY DAMN GOOD APART FROM THE THUMB BEING TOO PULLED BACK/SMALL MAYBE. Proportions feel good but the torso is far too flat.

Lowered the breasts, increased the thumb size, and made the body a bit more curvy. Here's a picture.

It would help if you drew a picture like that with a front view, and one with a left view, as I could use them while modeling. :/
It makes me sound a bit dodgy but slimmer legs and a bigger butt would probably work better :P

Yeah, it's just that when you're drawing for a model you have to make absolutely sure that the proportions are the same down to the finest details in both directions, otherwise problems start cropping up for the modeler. It takes a bit, which is why I'm waiting ^_^;;awp wrote:

Their outfits are very reminiscent of cheer outfits used in Japanese/Korean school. They are currently nameless but I like the name "Asami" for the female. Just throwin' this out there~

Anywayz, here's a pic I drew in MS Paint for an MMO idea sometime back. Ignore the first two, but the third character was to be used as the example character for the Cheerleaders Club, she is also a character of mine that I have used in other projects.

Ahhh.. nothing like a relaxing art break. This is based roughly off awp's rendition of the mascot, but I've made some changes.

I don't exactly like the long hair, but other than that, I like some elements of the design. The legs, specifically. I like this new design, Sarumaru. I like the legwarmers in theory, but I can't help but think they make her look more like a Gundam, lol. I do like that we now seem to have some decent artists and I like that the designs are starting to converge into a solid idea. Keep tennis-ing the design back and forth until we all agree on something, that's what I say

That is looking quite nice. The cartoon shader feels a bit overdone to me though...is it possible for the effects to be milder, so the model doesn't look as flat? I almost prefer the top-screen version.

I've thought about two things we might want to start thinking about for the mascot: A name and a voice. My first ideas are that we could name her after one of the Ouendan cheerleaders or Elite Beat Divas as homage, and I know several message boards where people do amateur voice acting for free. We'd need the usual countdown, a miss clip, and maybe some shouts at certain points as an extra whistle/finish.

There are 2 more details I'll have to add when I'm home again: The skirt, and the hair. I tried to create a skirt, but I can't simulate that newly-ironed look(I know what to do, it simply won't work), so is a more round-looking skirt OK?

Also Some1 should make a guy mascot so we have a male gender version for our male players? Have twin mascots or something.
I think the male one should have like a blue Osu! themed outfit and also the girl's fingers should have been more sharp to be more anime girl like.

Am I the only one who thinks that the cleavage is a bit much? It could easily be fixed by making the star one solid color.
A - it was originally designed for someone around the age of 17, where this sort of thing would be expected

The recording is actually fairly clean, I thought. Also, I think the voice is possible, but needs re-recording.
My stance on it is, the voice could be a tad higher-sounding. Tighten the vocal chords a bit more. And the actual reading of the lines lacks the right emotion, it sounds a bit rushed, and the emphasis falls on the wrong places.
Applause is just a straight-up "we-did-it" and doesn't really feel excited or energetic. I picture Pippi jumping when she says this. Either stretch the We out (Weeeee~ DID IT!) or hook the "did" more (We DID it!)
combobreak's not too bad, I think maybe hook the No a bit more. Sound a bit more desperate, maybe.
Ready, counts, go - it almost sounds like it's in the reverse order. There's a real drop in the "One" - it sounds like the end of the sentence, when there's still "Go!" to go. Ready sounds more like a statement to me than a question, and I can't really pick up any distinct emphasis. Try saying "Are you ready?" and bob your head down at the "rea" (of ready) and back up at "dy" to see if you can feel the movement of it. Also, it might help to record the entire "Are you ready? Three, two, one, go!" all at once - it really sounds like each sound file was its own take, and feels a bit broken/jumbled.

-Highlight a 'silent' part of the line
-Choose Noise Removal from the Effect Tab
-Click Get Noise Profile.
-Highlight the whole sound.
-Choose Noise Removal again.
-Click Remove Noise. Voila!
I say take all this advice and have Tina do another round of recordings, but since the window is open for others, here's a list of demos for amateur voice actresses that do stuff like this, Flash animations, and fandubs for free. I think that Rina-chan and Mippa have good voices for the character.

The voice could work, but the pronunciation needs some work. Tina also seems to have a problem with high tones, although I mainly base this on the LOLs. Warming up for a minute or two by doing weird sounds with varied pitches, and using exaggerated mouth movements when recording the lines should help. The "Are you ready?" is way to quick and the 1, 2 and 3 in the countdown should all have the same pitch. Also, personally, I think the ending thing is a bad idea. And air problems aside, the quality is fine.
